Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can built-in Wi-Fi computer printing combine Legal duplex, PIN release, 350 sheets and 7,000 monthly pages?
Yes with compatible protected-job software and the proper active wireless setup. Exact model and original paper/PIN sections support that arrangement.
Explore this need in the finder →Can the suitable shared wireless network support confirmed AirPrint and Mopria printing?
Yes. Both are explicitly named for the exact model; device compatibility, discovery and network conditions still apply.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the included package hold 500 Legal sheets because maximum input is 900?
No. Included ordinary input is 350; the extra 550-sheet drawer is optional.

The Lexmark MS431dw combines built-in Wi-Fi, automatic duplex and 350 sheets of supplied input in a compact monochrome printer. Exact US part 29S0100 also includes USB Type-B and 10/100BaseTX Ethernet. It can suit an 800–8,000-page recommended monthly routine when a suitable wireless network and supported protected computer jobs are useful.
The read US page has no discontinued banner. This is a current manufacturer reference, not a promise of stock, price or a new generation. Check the actual offered unit, regional supplies and intended software. The official classification remains print-only black and white; generic AirScan and Mopria Scan wording does not provide physical scanning hardware.
Read the dw connection specification separately
Built-in wireless is positively established by the exact model's Wireless Yes entry and its Wi-Fi description, even though the abbreviated standard-port list names the wired interfaces. Conversely, the dw Ethernet entry is 10/100BaseTX. Do not borrow the MS431dn's separately listed gigabit interface simply because the two models share a guide.
The original wireless setup requires the Ethernet cable to be disconnected and the active adapter configured appropriately. Treat wired and wireless networking as alternative arrangements, not a promise of simultaneous operation. USB Type-B remains a conventional computer connection and is separate from a direct flash-drive facility.
AirPrint and Mopria are explicitly supported for suitable shared networking. Confirm compatible devices, firmware and discovery on the actual network. The guide's Wi-Fi Direct instructions apply only to some family members, so exact peer-to-peer support needs its own confirmation. Built-in Wi-Fi alone should not silently become every wireless protocol.
Protected output has a concrete submission path
The original guide documents Windows Print and Hold and Mac AirPrint PIN Printing or the appropriate confidential-job driver option. A four-digit PIN controls local release at the two-line panel. Confirm the intended application and firmware expose the required job controls before relying on protected output.
Job expiration and storage settings apply, and an ordinary mobile print button may not submit the same protected job. The useful routine is a compatible computer submission followed by local release, rather than a vague claim that every network job is confidential merely because the printer has a security menu.
Keep the included paper load and optional expansion distinct
The 250-sheet drawer and 100-sheet multipurpose feeder total 350 sheets on the stated 20-pound or 75-gsm basis. Letter, Legal and A4 fit both sources and automatic duplex in the original table. Match the guides and paper size/type to the media, and use matching settings when linking ordinary-paper loads.
Suitable envelopes use the multipurpose feeder on one side. They are not main-drawer or automatic-duplex stock. One optional 550-sheet drawer raises maximum input to 900, but is not part of the supplied base configuration. The separate output bin holds 150 sheets, which can still require collection during a longer queue.
Maximum one-sided Letter output is declared at 42 pages per minute, with duplex separately 18 Letter sides per minute. These are manufacturer modes rather than measured application results. Maximum duty of 80,000 pages is separate from the 8,000-page recommended monthly ceiling.
Specific toner and room to use the printer
The original US starter declares 3,000 pages. Listed 55B replacements include 3,000-, 15,000- and 20,000-page options under ISO/IEC 19752, with a separate 40,000-page imaging unit and its own conditions. Match cartridge region and Return Program terms rather than assuming yield establishes a present ownership cost.
The body measures 14.5 inches wide, 14.3 deep and 8.7 high at 20.6 pounds. Allow loading and service access, inspect the electrical label and verify usable software. Choose different hardware when scanning, copying, fax or printed color is required.

Paper, software and setup details
Print-rate conditions
Manufacturer maximum 42 one-sided Letter pages/minute; automatic duplex separately 18 Letter sides/minute. Declared modes, not measured application results.
Paper handling
Included 250-sheet drawer and 100-sheet multipurpose feeder total 350 at 20 lb/75 gsm. Letter, Legal and A4 fit both ordinary sources and automatic duplex. Match guides and size/type. Suitable envelopes use a separate one-sided multipurpose routine. One optional 550-sheet drawer raises maximum to 900 and is not included.
Scanning arrangement
Official hardware classification is print-only monochrome laser. Generic AirScan, Mopria Scan and scan/fax driver text do not add a scanner, copier, fax or ADF.
Computer and mobile connections
Included USB Type-B computer, 10/100BaseTX Ethernet and built-in Wi-Fi. Exact dw page establishes radio despite shortened wired standard-port list; do not borrow dn gigabit specification. Use one active network arrangement; guide wireless setup requires disconnecting Ethernet. AirPrint/Mopria use suitable shared networking. Exact Wi-Fi Direct support remains unestablished by conditional family instructions.
Supplies and declared yields
US supplied Return Program toner 3,000 pages. Exact 55B1000 replacement 3,000; 55B1H00 15,000; 55B1X00/55B0XA0 20,000 under ISO/IEC 19752. Separate 55B0ZA0 imaging unit 40,000 uses its own job/coverage basis. Match regional restrictions and Return Program terms; no B3442 B34 supplies borrowed.
Software and support
Two-line monochrome LCD with buttons. Original guide documents Windows Print and Hold plus Mac AirPrint PIN Printing or compatible driver confidential jobs, with four-digit PIN and panel release. Confirm actual software/firmware and job controls; not every mobile print button submits a protected job. Exact AirPrint/Mopria protocol listings and shared-network conditions apply.
Electrical edition and setup
Exact US model and unit-body dimensions established. Nominal mains input remains unestablished in the read sources; inspect actual rating label and correct cord. Allow paper loading, output and service access beyond the closed body.
