Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can Ethernet computer printing combine Legal duplex, PIN release, 650 included sheets and 16,000 monthly pages?
Yes with earlier references enabled and compatible protected-job software. The named guide and exact 650-sheet configuration establish that arrangement.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the maximum 2,300-sheet headline supply 1,000 sheets in this included package?
No. Included input is 550 plus 100, or 650; additional drawers are optional.
Explore this need in the finder →Can the color control display provide printed color or color scanning?
No. The exact hardware classification is print-only black-and-white laser.

The Lexmark MS617dn is an earlier workgroup printer with automatic duplex and a 550-sheet main drawer already included. Exact US part 35SC400 adds a 100-sheet multipurpose feeder, gigabit Ethernet, USB Type-B and a front flash-drive interface. Its 650-sheet ordinary-paper input and 3,000–16,000-page recommended monthly range can fit a group whose queue is larger than a basic desktop printer's.
Lexmark marks the model discontinued. Check the real offered unit, regional supplies, installed options and usable software. The 2.4-inch color LCD and keypad are operating controls, not color-printing or scanning hardware. Officially this is a print-only black-and-white laser printer.
Paper capacity depends on the actual installed configuration
Standard input totals 650 sheets on the stated 20-pound or 75-gsm basis: 550 in the drawer and 100 in the multipurpose feeder. Letter, Legal and A4 fit both ordinary inputs and the automatic-duplex path. Set the guides and paper size/type to match the load, especially when using both sources for the same ordinary stock.
Legal loading extends the drawer's length guide beyond the base. Allow more operating depth than the closed body alone suggests. Matching source settings control tray linking, while separate settings can prevent unwanted substitution of special stock. Suitable envelopes use a one-sided multipurpose-feeder routine, rather than the main drawer or automatic duplex.
The 2,300-sheet maximum requires additional optional drawers. It is not the supplied capacity, and the physical unit and driver settings should agree before any expansion is relied upon. Output is separately 250 sheets. Even a large input stack does not eliminate the need to collect finished work during a long queue.
Protected output and separate USB roles
The named user-guide chapter documents compatible Print and Hold computer jobs, a computer-set four-digit PIN and local release. Held-job expiration and memory conditions apply; ordinary documented confidential jobs do not require a hard disk. Check the exact driver and application routine rather than assuming every print command submits a protected job.
The USB Type-B interface connects a computer. The front Type-A host supports the documented flash-drive routine, with FAT-format, file-type and permission conditions. That front facility is explicitly included on this model, unlike the MS517's different direct-USB specification. Keep computer attachment and flash storage roles distinct.
Exact mobile protocols need their own confirmation
Gigabit Ethernet is standard, while Wi-Fi needs an optional MarkNet adapter. The exact US page names Lexmark Mobile Print. The common manual discusses other mobile services but states that mobile printing and AirPrint apply only to some models. Those general instructions do not positively establish every protocol on the MS617.
If AirPrint or Mopria is essential, verify the intended device and firmware arrangement before purchase. Optional wireless also does not establish a Wi-Fi Direct routine. A conventional USB or Ethernet computer setup is clearly documented and should be evaluated as the actual arrangement being used.
Use mode-specific speed and the exact 51B supply range
Maximum one-sided Letter output is declared at 50 pages per minute, with duplex separately 22 Letter sides per minute. Neither is a measured application-task result. Recommended monthly volume reaches 16,000 pages, while maximum duty is separately 175,000. The larger number does not extend the ordinary recommendation.
The original US starter toner declares 5,000 pages. Exact 51B replacements include 2,500-, 8,500- and 20,000-page options under ISO/IEC 19752, with a separate 60,000-page imaging unit and its own conditions. Do not borrow the MS610's 50F supplies or 6,000-page starter. Match cartridge region and Return Program terms. The body is 15.7 inches wide, 15.0 deep and 12.1 high at 34.6 pounds; inspect the electrical label and allow working access.

Paper, software and setup details
Print-rate conditions
Manufacturer maximum 50 one-sided Letter pages/minute; automatic duplex separately 22 Letter sides/minute. Declared modes, not article measurements.
Paper handling
Included 550-sheet main drawer and 100-sheet multipurpose feeder total 650 at 20 lb/75 gsm. Letter, Legal and A4 fit both ordinary inputs and automatic duplex. Match guides and size/type; Legal loading extends beyond the body. Suitable envelopes use a separate one-sided multipurpose routine. 2,300 maximum requires additional optional drawers.
Scanning arrangement
Print-only monochrome laser hardware, without document scanning, copying, fax or an ADF. A color display or mobile software does not add those functions.
Computer and mobile connections
Included gigabit Ethernet, USB Type-B computer and front Type-A flash-drive host. Original front flash routine has FAT/file/permission conditions. Wi-Fi requires optional MarkNet N8352 hardware. Lexmark Mobile Print is exact-model positive; AirPrint/Mopria and Wi-Fi Direct configuration remain unestablished.
Supplies and declared yields
US supplied Return Program toner 5,000 pages. Exact 51B1000 replacement 2,500; 51B1H00 8,500; 51B1X00/51B0XA0 20,000 under ISO/IEC 19752. Separate 50F0Z00/50F0ZA0 imaging unit 60,000 uses its own job/coverage basis. Match regional restriction and Return Program terms; not MS610 50F supplies or 6,000-page starter.
Software and support
2.4-inch non-touch color LCD and keypad. Named original guide documents compatible Print and Hold jobs, a computer-set four-digit PIN and panel release, with expiration and memory-resource conditions. Ordinary protected jobs do not require a disk. Confirm current driver/application support; mobile printing is not automatically PIN submission.
Electrical edition and setup
Exact US configuration is separately established. Nominal mains input remains unestablished in the read sources; inspect the actual rating label and correct cord. Body dimensions exclude extended Legal guides, loading and service clearance.
