A useful fit for

A wired small office needing ordinary Legal print duplex, one-sided document capture and analog fax within 6,000 recommended monthly pages.

The main tradeoff

Wireless is absent, the feeder is simplex and Legal originals do not fit the documented glass route.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can Ethernet combine fax, Legal feeder scans and Legal print duplex with 350-sheet input for 5,000 monthly pages?

Yes for one-sided originals, compatible network scanning and a suitable separately connected phone line. Both included print inputs support Legal.

Can a wired network offer both AirPrint and Mopria for compatible mobile devices?

Yes on suitable shared networking. AirPrint is in the exact US specification and the scoped original guide supplies both named protocol routines.

Can the dn package satisfy a Wi-Fi scanning requirement?

No. The exact US record says Wireless No and lists no optional network port; a common wireless chapter is not an included radio.

A wired document station with a simple feeder

The Lexmark MX321adn brings monochrome printing, copying, color scanning and analog fax to a conventional wired office. US part 36S0620 includes gigabit Ethernet, USB Type-B and 350 sheets of combined input. Its 2.4-inch color LCD has buttons rather than touchscreen controls, and the color display does not mean that printed output is color.

The main tradeoff is document handling: the 50-sheet feeder scans one side at a time. Automatic print duplex is included, but automatic two-sided scanning is not. Lexmark recommends 500–6,000 pages per month, a more useful planning range than the separate 50,000-page maximum duty cycle. The exact page marks the printer discontinued.

Keep originals and output paper separate

Letter, Legal and A4 fit the feeder. Load suitable originals faceup, align their leading edges and adjust the guides. The glass supports Letter and A4, while the original routed size table marks Legal unsupported on the glass. Use that surface for books, photos, small items and fragile originals that should not go through rollers.

A one-sided Legal form therefore has a documented feeder route. A fragile full-length Legal original or a recurring stack of two-sided contracts calls for different scanner hardware. General common-guide references to two-sided originals do not override the exact product's simplex feeder specification.

The maker declares Letter simplex scanning separately up to 45 black or 22 color sides per minute. Those are scan modes, not the printer's output rate or measured complete processing times. Color capture remains available even though copies and printed documents use a monochrome engine.

Computer networking without an assumed radio

The exact US configuration says Wireless No and lists no optional network port. Plan around gigabit Ethernet or USB Type-B rather than a shared guide's wireless chapter. The separate Direct USB No entry does not remove the computer connection; it concerns a different facility from workstation attachment.

Computer scan destinations are explicitly listed for USB or network attachment. The guide describes ScanBack profiles, Windows Fax and Scan, and Mac Image Capture workflows. Check that the required current print and scanner software works on the intended system and that destination permissions are configured. A successful print installation alone does not establish a complete scan routine.

AirPrint is included in the exact US specification, while the scoped original guide gives both AirPrint and Mopria printing instructions. Compatible mobile devices can use suitable shared networking to reach the wired printer. This does not make a wireless radio standard inside the printer.

If PIN release is essential, confirm the full supported submission and local-release procedure on the intended software. Confidential settings in a menu are not, by themselves, a complete documented user workflow. The ordinary arrangement here does not promise that unverified requirement.

Included paper and conventional fax

The 250-sheet drawer plus 100-sheet multipurpose feeder totals 350 sheets on the stated 20-pound or 75-gsm basis. Letter, Legal and A4 fit both inputs and automatic print duplex. Set guides, size and type to match the load. Suitable envelopes use a separate one-sided feeder routine. The 900-sheet maximum requires an optional drawer.

Printing is declared at up to 38 one-sided Letter pages per minute, with duplex separately 19 Letter sides per minute. These specifications are not measured results for a mixed business file. The analog modem also needs station information and a suitable separate telephone-line arrangement; Ethernet is not the ordinary fax transport.

Use the exact replacement table

The original US starter declares 2,500 pages. The exact replacement list gives 56F1000 at 6,000 and 56F1H00 or 56F0HA0 at 15,000 under ISO/IEC 19752. A broader marketing paragraph mentions 20,000, but that figure is not adopted for this exact cartridge list. The separate 60,000-page imaging unit has its own job and coverage basis.

Match regional and Return Program conditions. Inspect the actual electrical label, available software and condition, and leave loading, scanner-cover and service space around the 42.8-pound body. A positively documented wireless or duplex-scanning package is the alternative when either capability is central to the job.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

Manufacturer maximum 38 one-sided Letter pages/minute; automatic print duplex separately 19 Letter sides/minute. Letter simplex scans separately 45 black/22 color sides/minute; not measured end-to-end results.

Paper handling

Included 250-sheet drawer plus 100-sheet MPF: 350 sheets at 20 lb/75 gsm. Letter/Legal/A4 fit both inputs and ordinary-paper automatic duplex. Maximum 900 requires an optional drawer. Suitable envelopes use the instructed MPF simplex routine.

Scanning arrangement

Exact US specification: 50-sheet simplex ADF, not automatic duplex. Original 21–22 supports Letter/Legal/A4 through feeder and Letter/A4 on glass; Legal glass is marked unsupported. USB/network computer scan destinations and ScanBack/Windows/Mac workflows are documented.

Computer and mobile connections

Included gigabit Ethernet and USB Type-B. Wireless explicitly No; optional network ports N/A. USB/network computer scanning is explicit. Direct USB No does not remove Type-B attachment. AirPrint is exact US positive; scoped guide also supplies Mopria instructions. No Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi Direct plan.

Supplies and declared yields

US original Return Program toner 2,500 pages. Exact replacements 56F1000 6,000 and 56F1H00/56F0HA0 15,000 under ISO/IEC 19752; generic 20,000-page marketing text is not adopted. Separate 56F0Z00/56F0ZA0 imaging unit 60,000 uses a different job/coverage basis.

Software and support

Original 25–26 gives unqualified scoped Mopria and AirPrint shared-network routines. Confirm current print/scan software. Confidential menu entries do not establish a complete supported PIN submission/release routine here; that requirement remains unknown.

Electrical edition and setup

Analog fax needs station details and a suitable separate phone-line/adapter arrangement, not Ethernet transport. Nominal mains input remains unestablished; inspect the actual electrical label and allow scanner-cover, loading and service room.
