Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can Ethernet combine PIN-held Legal printing, 600-sheet input and 28,000 monthly pages?
Yes with compatible confidential-job software. Legal fits both included paper sources, and the recommended monthly maximum is 30,000 pages.
Explore this need in the finder →Can USB provide A4 monochrome printing and occasional MPF envelopes?
Yes through the supported ordinary inputs and separate one-sided envelope routine with suitable media and settings.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the high-volume n configuration include automatic duplex?
No. The matching 500-sheet duplex unit remains optional. A different package’s installed unit is not part of this exact base arrangement.
Explore this need in the finder →A larger regular queue with wired sharing
The Lexmark T644n pairs monochrome laser printing with Fast Ethernet and a recommended monthly range of 5,000–30,000 pages. Exact US part 20G0350 includes a 500-sheet drawer and 100-sheet multipurpose feeder. It suits a wired workgroup that needs a larger regular workload allowance, local confidential-job release and the T644 cartridge range.
The n suffix does not supply automatic duplex. A matching duplex unit is listed separately, just as extra paper and finishing devices are options. Verify installed hardware on the actual offered machine. Lexmark marks this model discontinued, so its surviving specification is a reference for the configuration rather than a stock or condition promise.
Build the shared queue and the protected-job routine
The supplied network connection is 10/100BaseTX Ethernet, with Type-B USB available for a directly attached computer. Parallel and internal card slots provide other documented interfaces or expansion possibilities. Optional wireless and gigabit equipment should not be counted as included hardware.
The original guide checks the network's connected status and IP settings before installing queues on computers. Use compatible printing software and match source, size and media settings to the load. Historical Windows and Mac procedures do not guarantee support for every later operating system.
For confidential output, compatible Windows software uses Print and Hold. The Mac procedure uses Job Routing and Confidential Print. Submit a user name and four-digit PIN using digits 0–9, then select the user and confidential job at the printer to release it with the matching code. Printed confidential jobs are deleted from printer memory.
This is different from optional hard-disk encryption. Verify, Reserve and Repeat held jobs also have their own behavior and do not all require a PIN. Choose the actual confidential routine when protected release is essential, and confirm that the intended software exposes it.
The base load is 600 sheets, not the expanded maximum
The 500-sheet drawer and 100-sheet MPF total 600 sheets on the stated 20-pound or 75-gsm basis. Letter, Legal and A4 fit both ordinary sources. Adjust guides, respect load lines and match size/type settings at the panel and in the driver. Matching sources can be linked under the documented routine.
The optional duplex unit must match the 500-sheet standard-tray configuration. It mounts beneath the printer and does not add another input drawer merely because its name includes a sheet count. Check the installed unit, driver recognition, physical space and support arrangement before relying on automatic two-sided output.
Suitable envelopes use a separate one-sided MPF routine, with up to ten under the guide's conditions. Select Envelope and the correct size, avoiding stamps, windows, clasps, exposed adhesive and damaged stock. The optional 85-envelope feeder is another device. Specialized label work also needs the stated cartridge and fuser-cleaner arrangement.
Front PDFs and finishing remain distinct functions
The front USB Direct interface prints supported PDFs from suitable FAT-formatted storage. The original guide excludes NTFS, encrypted files and files without printing permission. Select the document and quantity at the panel, and leave the device connected until the job finishes. This is separate from the computer's Type-B USB connection.
Maximum input of 4,100 sheets, larger output capacity and finishing require optional hardware. Base output holds 500 sheets. Inspect the actual configuration and follow furniture requirements for larger floor-mounted combinations. None of these paper devices provides scanning, copying or fax to this print-only machine.
Use the T644 supply range and regular-volume rating
Lexmark declares up to 50 one-sided Letter pages per minute. That figure is not a duplex throughput or measured application result. The 250,000-page maximum duty rating remains separate from the recommended monthly ceiling.
The exact US package declares a 21,000-page supplied High Yield Return Program cartridge. Americas replacement choices include 6,000, 21,000 and 32,000 pages under ISO/IEC 19752; the largest is a documented T644 option rather than a shared T640 capability. Match region and cartridge terms.
Inspect maintenance condition and the electrical label, and allow service access around the 51-pound body. Compare an explicitly duplex-equipped package when two-sided output is essential, or an MFP when the queue also includes original capture.

Paper, software and setup details
Print-rate conditions
Manufacturer maximum 50 one-sided Letter pages/minute. A matching 500-sheet duplex unit is optional; no automatic duplex rate or included duplex capability is borrowed from a dtn package.
Paper handling
Included 500-sheet drawer plus 100-sheet MPF totals 600 at 20 lb/75 gsm. Letter/Legal/A4 fit both ordinary sources. Suitable envelopes use MPF simplex, up to 10 under guide conditions. Maximum 4,100 input, an 85-envelope feeder and extra output/finishing need options; base output is 500.
Scanning arrangement
Print-only monochrome hardware has no glass, document feeder, copying or fax. Optional paper-handling devices do not add scanning.
Computer and mobile connections
Included 10/100BaseTX Ethernet, USB Type-B, front USB Direct, parallel and two internal card slots. Wireless and gigabit options are separate. No included Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct or verified mobile-protocol arrangement is qualified.
Supplies and declared yields
Exact US supplied High Yield Return Program cartridge 21,000 pages, independently confirmed by original US catalog. Americas replacements 64015SA/64035SA 6,000; 64015HA/64035HA 21,000; 64415XA/64435XA 32,000 under ISO/IEC 19752. Label-specific cartridges/fuser cleaners and maintenance parts have separate conditions.
Software and support
Original guide 40–41 gives compatible Windows Print and Hold and Mac Job Routing/Confidential Print with a four-digit PIN using 0–9 and local release. Jobs are held in printer memory; optional hard-disk encryption is a separate feature. Front USB PDF printing requires FAT storage and excludes encrypted files or files without printing permission. Verify current software compatibility.
Electrical edition and setup
Inspect actual installed options, maintenance condition, electrical label and correct cord. Allow loading, ventilation, output access and service clearance beyond body dimensions. Larger floor-mounted option stacks need the specified support furniture.
