A useful fit for

A wired team printing within 5,000–50,000 recommended monthly pages that needs automatic back sides and confidential PIN release.

The main tradeoff

Finishing, paper expansion, wireless and hard-disk features require optional hardware; the 55-ppm declaration is specifically one-sided Letter.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can a wired team combine Legal duplex, 650 included sheets, PIN release and 45,000 monthly pages?

Yes with compatible computer software and ordinary paper. Load 550 Legal sheets in the drawer plus 100 in the feeder, set matching size/type and use MP Cassette mode for linking. The recommended monthly maximum is 50,000 pages.

Can USB provide A4 duplex plus occasional envelope jobs at a 55-ppm Letter minimum?

Yes. A4 fits the automatic-duplex path; envelopes follow a separate one-sided MP routine. The 55-ppm threshold checks the one-sided Letter declaration, not A4 or duplex speed.

Does its 300,000-page maximum support a 60,000-page recommended monthly requirement?

No. Its separate recommended range ends at 50,000 pages/month; maximum duty cannot replace that recurring-workload measure.

A larger workload with automatic back sides

The Lexmark T654dn is a monochrome laser printer with included Ethernet, USB and an internal automatic-duplex unit. US part 30G0300 fits a document team working within the maker's 5,000–50,000 recommended monthly pages. It declares up to 55 one-sided Letter pages per minute and separately 37 Letter sides per minute for automatic duplex.

The supplied paper arrangement combines a 550-sheet drawer and 100-sheet multipurpose feeder. Its output bin holds up to 550 sheets, a separate figure from the 650-sheet input. Finishing, additional drawers, wireless interfaces and hard-disk features remain optional, so inspect the actual equipment rather than judging it by a fully expanded family illustration.

Keep capacity tied to the loaded paper

The original media tables support Letter, Legal and A4 in both ordinary input paths and the duplex unit. Standard capacities use the 20-pound or 75-gsm paper basis. Adjust the guides and match size and type in the panel and driver, respecting the maximum fill lines.

For a linked 650-sheet run, use matching stock in the 550-sheet drawer and 100-sheet feeder. The guide requires Cassette mode to include the multipurpose feeder in tray linking. Its paper size needs deliberate configuration. If it instead carries letterhead or another special stock, give that load appropriate settings so ordinary jobs do not draw from it unexpectedly.

Suitable envelopes use the multipurpose feeder as a separate one-sided routine, with Envelope type and the correct size and flap orientation. They replace the ordinary-paper load rather than adding another capacity. A dedicated envelope feeder and the 4,300-sheet input maximum require separate optional hardware.

Check duplex settings before a long report

The guide explicitly identifies an internal duplex unit in the T654dn. Select one-sided or two-sided output in compatible computer software, with long-edge or short-edge binding as appropriate. Letter, Legal and A4 automatic duplex are established, but envelope handling is not a duplex workflow.

Check a representative document and any preprinted letterhead for orientation before a longer run. Loading can differ when an optional finisher is installed. The 55-ppm one-sided Letter figure and 37-sides-per-minute Letter duplex figure should remain separate; neither is an A4, Legal or measured whole-job promise.

Use the right port and release confidential output locally

The USB Type-B port connects a computer. Ethernet provides the included wired network route; print the setup page and verify Connected status and the IP address before configuring queues. The exact specification also lists front and rear Type-A host ports, but the guide supports flash drives only in the front port. Do not treat those host sockets as interchangeable computer interfaces.

Compatible Windows Print and Hold or Macintosh Job Routing software can submit a confidential job with a four-digit PIN. Select it from Held Jobs and enter the PIN at the keypad to release the pages. These jobs use printer memory and can be deleted when more memory is required. This is distinct from optional-disk encryption or Job Waiting.

The four-line grayscale panel supplies local guidance and settings, while the embedded web server provides network status and reports. Check software for the actual computers; historical compatibility lists do not establish current support. AirPrint and Mopria are unestablished here, and the printer has no scanning, copying or fax hardware.

Choose supplies and maintenance for this variant

The exact US supplied Return Program cartridge declares 10,000 pages. Standard T650A11A or T650A21A replacements declare 7,000, high-yield T650H11A or T650H21A cartridges 25,000, and T654X11A or T654X21A extra-high yields 36,000 under ISO/IEC 19752. The extra-high option is specifically restricted to T654 models in the guide.

Confirm the supply region, program conditions, maintenance-kit status and installed fuser type and voltage. The 300,000-page maximum monthly duty figure does not replace the 50,000-page recommended ceiling. Lexmark marks this 51.6-pound model discontinued. Check its electrical label, proper cord, physical condition and working clearance. Compare a documented multifunction or wireless model if those capabilities would remove extra equipment from the routine.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

Maker maximum 55 one-sided Letter pages per minute, separately 37 Letter sides per minute in automatic duplex. These are distinct declared modes, not a complete-job timing or A4/Legal rate.

Paper handling

Included 550-sheet drawer plus 100-sheet multipurpose feeder total 650 ordinary sheets at 20 lb/75 gsm. Letter, Legal and A4 fit both sources and automatic duplex. Link the MP in Cassette mode with matching size/type. Envelopes replace its ordinary-paper load for separate one-sided jobs. Output is separately 550 sheets; maximum 4,300 input needs optional hardware.

Scanning arrangement

Monochrome print-only laser hardware has no scanner glass, document-capture feeder, copying or fax. Multipurpose paper feeding and a front flash-drive port do not capture originals.

Computer and mobile connections

Included USB Type-B computer port and 10/100 Ethernet, plus front and rear Type-A host ports. The guide supports flash drives only in the front port. Wireless, gigabit, parallel and serial interfaces are optional equipment; network setup requires appropriate compatible computer software.

Supplies and declared yields

Exact US supplied Return Program cartridge declares 10,000 pages. US/Canada T650A11A/A21A standard replacements declare 7,000; T650H11A/H21A high yields 25,000; T654X11A/X21A extra-high yields 36,000 under ISO/IEC 19752. Extra-high cartridges are T654-specific. Match region, program conditions, maintenance fuser type and voltage.

Software and support

Compatible Windows Print and Hold or Mac Job Routing software can submit a confidential job with a four-digit PIN, then release it from Held Jobs using the panel keypad. Jobs occupy printer memory and may be deleted under memory pressure. Disk encryption and Job Waiting need the separately optional hard disk. Current OS, AirPrint and Mopria compatibility are unestablished.

Electrical edition and setup

Nominal mains input is unestablished despite exact US part identity; inspect actual electrical label and proper cord. The 51.6 lb body needs operating clearance and appropriate handling. Expansion trays, output accessories and finishing can require suitable furniture; check installed options and driver settings.
