Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can a compatible USB Windows PCL setup combine Legal automatic duplex, 350 suitable Legal positions and panel password release?
Yes. The exact manual supports those functions in the same PCL route, with appropriate60–120 gsm stock, correct settings and enough internal job memory.
Explore this need in the finder →Can a native AirPrint job use the Windows PCL password-release feature?
No. Native AirPrint is documented separately and does not inherit that driver-specific authentication workflow.
Explore this need in the finder →Does ordinary B412dn include printer Wi-Fi because it supports AirPrint?
No. The printer can use native AirPrint while wired to the same infrastructure network, and its wireless module is optional.

The OKI B412dn is an earlier monochrome LED printer with included USB, Ethernet and automatic duplex. Its compact Letter-paper body measurement is useful, but the original outline chapter gives greater depth with A4 and still more with Legal 14. A Legal-heavy installation therefore needs a different clearance check from a nearby Letter-only desk.
The exact US support record establishes the model identity. The original operating manual also separates low- and high-voltage versions, so check the physical rating plate rather than treating a European specification sheet as proof of US electrical compatibility.
The exact manual confirms both ordinary paper sources
The included cassette holds 250 suitable sheets and the multipurpose input 100 at the stated ordinary-paper condition. The model-specific HTML manual confirms that arrangement, rather than relying solely on a regional brochure. Letter, Legal and A4 are supported in both sources.
A 350-sheet same-size reserve assumes that the sources are allocated to the selected stock. If the multipurpose tray holds envelopes or another paper, those positions cannot also be credited to a Legal packet. The additional 530-sheet cassette is an option, with physical installation and software settings to verify separately.
The duplex chapter supports these ordinary sizes at 60–120gsm and requires face-down output. The heavier multipurpose simplex rating does not apply to two-sided jobs. Envelopes, labels and long banner paper also have their own restrictions.
Choose PCL for the documented password-release route
The shared manual contains PS instructions, but expressly excludes B412 from that driver and emulation. Its positive confidential-release workflow is available through the compatible Windows PCL driver: set Secure Print, name the job, supply a password and send it into the printer's internal memory.
The job is held until the operator enters the password at the panel and selects printing. If internal memory lacks space, the job is not executed. This is an actual document-release process, distinct from a general administrator password.
The guide excludes Windows XPS and Mac drivers from that authentication function. A printer that works normally from one of those systems should not be assumed to provide the same confidential controls. Establish the exact driver and release behavior before making it part of a recurring workflow.
AirPrint uses a separate network arrangement
The model-specific native instructions positively support AirPrint through infrastructure networking. The printer may connect by Ethernet to the same router or access point serving the mobile device; optional printer Wi-Fi is a different hardware choice.
The native plan does not inherit Windows PCL authentication. Specific mobile size and duplex selections are also left separate from the desktop evidence here. Check the options exposed by the intended application when a particular document format or finishing behavior is required.
Restore ordinary settings after a special job
Paper type, weight and source choices in a driver can override corresponding panel settings. After using envelopes or heavier stock, inspect the next document's preferences. Correct physical paper alone does not resolve an old application setting.
Use suitable heat-compatible materials and the specified output path. Windowed envelopes, exposed label backing and unsuitable coatings are not validated simply because their dimensions fit the multipurpose input.
Keep regional and service assumptions visible
The European sheet's recommended monthly interval is not assigned as a US recommendation. The operating manual's average-use assumption and service-life quantity are different measures. Its engine table also uses copy-mode wording without establishing a physical copier; this remains print-only hardware.
The included starter has a smaller declaration than replacement toner. The guide gives a specific starter-first installation instruction, while regional supply identifiers need their own compatibility check. Inspect the actual consumables and condition rather than treating published replacement yields as the supplies present in an individual unit.

Paper, software and setup details
Print-rate conditions
The exact operating table gives B41235 ppm Letter and 33 A4 in copy-mode engine conditions. It does not establish integrated copying or explicit simplex test conditions, so a verified Letter-simplex rate remains unknown. The European sheet lists 60000 maximum and 250–3000 recommended monthly; its recommendation is not assigned as a US interval. The guide’s3000 average-use and 200000 sheet/five-year life are separate assumptions.
Paper handling
The exact original HTML manual confirms250 suitable80 gsm sheets in tray 1 and 100 in the multipurpose input, giving 350 conditional positions. Both support ordinary Letter, Legal and A4, and desktop automatic duplex supports those sizes at 60–120 gsm with face-down output. The 530-sheet second cassette is optional. Heavier163 gsm simplex stock, envelopes, labels and banners have separate source and output limits.
Scanning arrangement
The exact mono LED device is print-only. Copy mode in its engine-rate table does not establish an integrated copier, scanner, glass, ADF or fax.
Computer and mobile connections
USB and wired Ethernet are included. Wireless is an optional module. The model-specific AirPrint instructions permit a printer wired to the same infrastructure network as the mobile device; ordinary printer Wi-Fi is not required for that wired route.
Supplies and declared yields
The exact unpacking chapter declares about2000 A4 pages for the included starter under ISO/IEC 19752 and instructs using the starter before a separately purchased cartridge. The regional B412 sheet lists 3000/7000 replacement toner under that A4 standard, plus a separate 25000-page average drum declaration. Regional supply identifiers should not be assumed interchangeable with US cartridges.
Software and support
The shared manual expressly excludes B412 from PS/PDF emulation and the PS driver. Windows PCL positively supports internal-memory job-password holding and panel release, with no optional storage prerequisite stated. Authentication is excluded from Windows XPS and Mac drivers. The exact PCL plan also documents named-size duplex. Native AirPrint remains separate, without borrowed PIN, named-size or duplex settings. Check the actual driver on the intended computer.
Electrical edition and setup
The exact shared manual maps B412 N22500 A to 110–127 VAC and N22500B to 220–240 VAC, 50/60 Hz. The assessed low-voltage model has positive US catalog identity62444301. Body dimensions are 387 × 364 × 245 mm with Letter; the actual outline chapter gives 393 mm depth with A4 and 452 mm with Legal14, before working clearance. A single loaded weight remains unknown because source declarations differ.
