B430dnIllustrated overview
A useful fit for

A compatible wired computer needing the documented PCL/PostScript combination and automatic two-sided Legal output.

The main tradeoff

No scanner or confirmed native wireless/mobile routine. The cassette is smaller than B420dn; increased capacity requires an optional drawer.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can the 120 V B430dn combine Ethernet, Legal automatic duplex and 300 included sheets?

Yes. The exact base input, Ethernet interface and Legal duplex procedure support that combination.

The B430dn trades cassette capacity for a different language combination

The OKI B430dn is an earlier monochrome LED printer with built-in Ethernet, automatic duplex and PostScript 3 emulation. Its included paper arrangement is a 250-sheet cassette plus a 50-sheet multipurpose feeder. That combination differs from the larger main cassette on the neighboring B420dn.

This review concerns the black 120V B430dn, manufacturer part 91643003. It is a dedicated printer, with no scanner, copy function, fax or original feeder. The relevant choice is whether its paper handling, interfaces and language support suit an established computer document workflow.

300 sheets are included; 830 is an optional configuration

The 250-sheet cassette and 50-sheet multipurpose path total 300 ordinary sheets. A second 530-sheet cassette is optional, raising the configured maximum to 830. The additional drawer should only be counted when the actual offered machine includes it.

A separate multipurpose path is useful when instructed envelopes or other suitable media should be handled without replacing the main paper stack. Its ordinary-paper count does not establish the same capacity for every thick sheet or envelope. Match the actual paper type, size, loading direction and output settings to the original instructions.

Legal automatic duplex has a documented procedure

The original automatic-duplex section names Letter, Legal 13, Legal 14 and A4, using suitable paper in the stated 60–105gsm range. It describes selecting the appropriate source and long-edge or short-edge automatic binding in the compatible Windows PCL driver.

That is the positive confirmation needed for automatic two-sided Legal work. A model can support one-sided Legal output without supporting Legal automatic duplex, so the separate procedure matters. Envelopes and unsupported special stock should not be selected for the automatic duplex path.

PostScript belongs to this specific family configuration

The B430dn explicitly includes PostScript 3 emulation alongside PCL and the documented legacy Epson and IBM emulations. That is a meaningful distinction from other B400 models whose original language list does not include PostScript.

It also has 64MB of standard memory, with the larger maximum requiring an optional memory module. Neither the language list nor additional memory guarantees current driver compatibility, a particular application result or a private-print feature. Check the actual computer and document workflow before choosing an older printer for a language-specific requirement.

Wired network sharing is established; mobile protocols are not

USB, parallel and a 10/100 Ethernet print server are documented for the B430dn. The direct computer and configured wired-network arrangements are therefore separate supported choices. The Ethernet port does not imply that the machine includes Wi-Fi hardware.

Native AirPrint, Mopria and a verified PIN-release workflow are not established by the reviewed sources. Printer-management software is not a substitute for those exact functions. If scanning is part of the task, a multifunction model is required rather than an expectation that the network interface can supply missing scanner hardware.

Use the original speed, body and supply figures carefully

The original guide declares 30ppm Letter and 28ppm A4 for one-sided output. Those are manufacturer rates, not our measurements, automatic-duplex rates or full application-job timings. The 70,000-page maximum monthly duty cycle is separate from a sustained monthly recommendation, which is not confirmed here.

The US brochure gives a body of 14.5×15.6×10.6 inches and 24lb without the optional drawer. Allow extra room for paper, rear output, cables and maintenance, and match the actual 120V label. Separate toner and drum components have historical yield declarations; the B420's larger toner option should not be borrowed for this model. Confirm current compatible supplies, prices and machine condition before relying on an older offer.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

Declared one-sided output is 30 ppm Letter and 28 ppm A4. Maximum duty is not an established recommended monthly volume.

Paper handling

Included input is 250 cassette plus 50 multipurpose sheets, totaling 300. The optional 530-sheet drawer raises capacity to 830. Letter/Legal 13/14/A4 duplex uses suitable 60–105 gsm stock; envelopes use the separate instructed path.

Scanning arrangement

Dedicated monochrome LED printer without scanning, copying, fax or document-feeder hardware.

Computer and mobile connections

The B430dn includes computer USB, parallel and 10/100 Ethernet. AirPrint, Mopria, wireless and PIN-release workflows are not established by the reviewed sources.

Supplies and declared yields

The family brochure separates the 1500-page starter, 3500/7000-page B430-compatible replacement toner and usage-dependent drum life. B420-only high-yield cartridges are not assigned.

Software and support

PostScript 3, PCL and legacy printer emulations are documented. Memory expansion beyond the standard 64 MB requires an optional DIMM. Check the current computer and language/driver combination.

Electrical edition and setup

The black US 120 V B430dn is part 91643003. Body: 14.5 × 15.6 × 10.6 inches, 24 lb without the optional tray. Allow multipurpose, rear output, cable and service access.
