Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can the documented standard USB configuration hold 250 suitable Legal sheets for ordinary printing?
Yes. The cassette supports Legal and holds up to 250 suitable sheets, with its rear extender and guides set correctly. The optional second tray is excluded.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the exact B4600 Black include the Ethernet interface of B4600n Black?
No. The maker lists those ordering configurations separately, and Ethernet is optional on the ordinary B4600.
Explore this need in the finder →Can its optional paper expansion establish automatic two-sided printing?
No. More input paper does not establish an automatic duplex route, and the operating guide advises against passing paper through twice.
Explore this need in the finder →The black cabinet does not include the network option
The OKI B4600 Black is an earlier monochrome LED printer. The exact Americas ordering table identifies the 120V black model as 62427301 and lists B4600n Black separately. That distinction matters more to a shared office than the cabinet color: USB and parallel belong to the ordinary printer, while its OkiLAN network server is an additional option.
A unit with an installed server may have a different practical role, but the standard configuration assessed here does not gain Ethernet from the neighboring n model. Inspect the actual connections and accessories before arranging a shared print queue.
Use the cassette reserve for ordinary documents
The included cassette holds up to 250 suitable sheets. The operating guide supports Letter, Legal and A4 ordinary paper there, with different limits for heavier stock. Its installation instructions require the guides and rear stopper to match the loaded size and prohibit filling above the marked level.
Legal paper requires the rear tray extender, so the closed-body depth is not the full working clearance for that job. The guide also describes a single-sheet manual input. The maker's standard-capacity headline remains 250 sheets here rather than turning that manual position into another unattended stack.
The optional second tray can increase the reserve, but it is not standard equipment. If fitted, enable it in the driver and use the documented same-media settings for automatic source changes. A tray attached underneath without the corresponding software configuration is an incomplete installation.
Special materials change the output path
The guide assigns suitable envelopes to manual input and rear, face-up output. Heavy materials also need that straighter path. Labels and transparencies have additional material requirements, and exposed adhesive or unsuitable heat-sensitive stock is not ordinary copier paper.
Opening the rear exit makes output use that path regardless of the driver setting. Check the physical exit before a long job, and account for the changed page order. The small top output area and the rear area are alternatives, not a combined stack that can be ignored.
Do not infer automatic duplex from driver terminology
The read operating sections do not establish an automatic two-sided print route. More unusually, the paper recommendations advise against putting paper through the printer twice. An improvised reinsertion routine is therefore not presented as a supported substitute for duplex hardware.
If unattended two-sided documents are central to the workload, this ordinary B4600 configuration has an unresolved requirement. N-up layouts, different output exits and optional network hardware do not resolve it.
Match the language and software to the actual unit
The brochure lists PCL emulations on the standard B4600. PostScript is an option for this model, while a separate B4600n PS configuration includes it. An application workflow that requires PostScript should begin by confirming the installed option, rather than treating a family-level language list as universal.
The USB procedure tells the operator to install the driver before connecting the cable. Its named operating systems are historic. Verify the intended computer and application now, including paper-source choices and status reporting, before relying on an existing installation.
Read workload and supply figures separately
The advertised maximum of 27 pages per minute is not retained as a verified Letter-specific rate. The 40,000-page monthly duty declaration is also a maximum, rather than a recommended monthly interval.
The original supplied-toner declaration is smaller than the high-capacity replacement available for the B4600 series. The image drum is separate, with its own continuous-printing assumption. Inspect the actual supplies and service condition; neither a large replacement cartridge nor a compact cabinet establishes the remaining condition of an individual printer.

Paper, software and setup details
Print-rate conditions
The maker declares up to 27 pages/minute without establishing Letter-specific test conditions in the read sections. Letter ppm remains unknown. The 40,000-page monthly duty declaration is a maximum; a recommended monthly interval is not established.
Paper handling
The ordinary configuration includes a 250-sheet cassette and a single-sheet manual input. The maker headline counts 250 standard sheets, retained here. Letter, Legal and A4 ordinary paper are supported in the cassette. A second 500-sheet tray and front multipurpose feeder are optional. The operating guide advises against putting paper through twice; automatic duplex is unconfirmed. Use manual input and rear output for suitable envelopes and special stock.
Scanning arrangement
This is a monochrome LED printer with no integrated document glass, feeder, copying or fax route.
Computer and mobile connections
USB and IEEE 1284 parallel are standard. Exact B4600 Black is distinct from B4600n Black: its OkiLAN Ethernet server is an option, not included. Serial is also optional. No ordinary wireless or native mobile route is established.
Supplies and declared yields
The maker brochure distinguishes the 3,000-page supplied toner declaration from a 7,000-page high-capacity cartridge available to B4600 models, with toner yields declared under ISO/IEC 19752. The separate 25,000-page image-drum estimate assumes continuous printing and varies with pages per job. Supply life is not a monthly workload recommendation.
Software and support
The ordinary model includes PCL 5e/PCL 6 and other listed legacy emulations. PostScript is optional on B4600; the B4600n PS configuration has it standard. The actual USB installation instructs driver installation before connecting the cable. Optional paper devices must be enabled in the driver after physical installation. Check current computer compatibility separately.
Electrical edition and setup
The exact ordering row identifies B4600 Black 62427301 as 120 V. The B4600 body dimensions are 14 × 15.6 × 8.5 inches; rear output and Legal-tray extension require additional room. A complete loaded weight is not established. Source editions differ on several internal specifications, so no unneeded processor or resolution reconciliation is invented.
