The OKI B721dn is a monochrome LED printer for a compatible wired workgroup. The original Americas brochure recommends 3,000–20,000 pages per month for this model. Its much higher 250,000-page monthly maximum duty is a different declaration and should not replace that recommended interval.
The neighboring B731dn has different speed and workload figures. The actual B721 specification gives 49 pages per minute for Letter simplex and 47 for A4 simplex. Duplex output is separately described in images per minute. These are maker declarations, not independent performance measurements.
Legal duplex and capacity share an actual paper route
The included cassette holds 530 suitable ordinary sheets and the multipurpose source adds 100. Both actual operating lists name Letter, Legal and A4. The printer therefore has documented 630-sheet input for those sizes without adding a cassette.
The operating capacity table specifies paper below 80 gsm, while a later summary uses an 80 gsm basis. Follow the narrower loading condition and stack-height marks. The broad total does not apply unchanged to thick stock.
Actual driver instructions provide long-edge or short-edge automatic duplex on the named ordinary sizes at 64–220 gsm. Envelopes, index cards, A6 and banners are excluded. The multipurpose source's heavier one-sided allowance does not extend the duplex material limit.
Password-held printing can use included memory
The advanced manual provides a Windows PCL and PostScript Secure Print workflow. A user supplies a job name and PIN in the driver, sends the job, then enters that PIN at the machine before printing. Its storage note refers to memory or an installed hard disk; it does not require buying the optional disk first.
Windows XPS and Mac PostScript are explicitly excluded from this feature. A shared printer or driver installation must therefore retain the supported route. Memory shortage can also invalidate held data, so confidential output is not an unlimited archive.
This is a genuine held-job procedure, separate from an administrator password or the WPS PIN used by a wireless-equipped version. Those other codes should not be presented as confidential document release.
The ordinary edition is wired
The exact Americas brochure maps B721dn part 62442001 to 120 V and includes USB and Gigabit Ethernet. Wireless and parallel models are available by special order. Their connection instructions in a shared manual do not put those interfaces into every ordinary unit.

The B721dn supports the declared 18,000- and 25,000-page print cartridges. The family's 36,000-page cartridge is specifically B731-only. The starter is declared at 10,000 pages, so neither neighboring cartridge capacity nor replacement yield should be treated as its out-of-box supply.
It remains a substantial print-only unit
The B721 uses a one-piece print cartridge, unlike the split supplies described for ES/MPS siblings. Its actual loaded weight is 26.6 kg, and the guide calls for two-person lifting. Allow extra room for trays, rear output, ventilation and service beyond the closed body dimensions.
There is no integrated document scanner, glass, feeder, copier or fax. Choose this model for the documented monochrome printing workflow, with its paper, driver and configuration limits checked together.

The exact B721 column specifies 49 ppm Letter simplex, separately from 47 ppm A4 simplex and the brochure 40 ipm duplex declaration. B731 55 ppm is excluded. Americas recommended volume is 3000–20000 pages/month, distinct from B721 maximum duty of 250000.
Paper handling
