Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can an ordinary compatible wired C6100dn print Legal color duplex with 400 suitable ordinary sheets available?
Yes. The exact dn configuration includes duplex, and its two standard sources total 400 sheets with Legal supported in both. The actual Windows PostScript procedure and 75–105 gsm duplex condition apply.
Explore this need in the finder →Can ordinary C6100dn provide the hdn model’s encrypted PIN-release workflow without adding the hard drive?
No. The original brochure explicitly requires the hard drive. It is standard on hdn and optional on dn, so the ordinary dn configuration is not assigned that release function.
Explore this need in the finder →Does Single Pass Color provide an integrated feeder for document capture?
No. It describes the LED printing system. The C6100dn is print-only and has no integrated scanner or document feeder.

The OKI C6100dn is the C6100 series configuration with included automatic duplex and ordinary 400-sheet input. The dtn adds a second cassette, while hdn includes the hard disk used for additional storage and security functions. Those adjacent features are not automatically part of dn.
The exact Americas brochure maps C6100dn part 62426603 to 120 V. Its separate 230 V number should not be merged into that electrical identity. This assessment concerns the original C6100dn rather than the differently named C610dn or C612dn.
Legal duplex has an actual desktop procedure
The original operating size tables support Letter, Legal and A4 with the duplex unit. The actual Windows PostScript procedure provides long-edge or short-edge binding and requires the installed unit to be enabled in the driver. That supplies a documented desktop route for two-sided ordinary documents.
Suitable duplex paper is limited to 75–105 gsm. Labels, envelopes, transparencies and heavier stock are excluded from that route. An accepted one-sided material does not automatically become duplex media.
The guide also explains the settings hierarchy: an application can override the driver, and the driver can override panel settings. When a job uses the wrong binding or source, check the active document settings as well as the saved printer defaults.
The second cassette remains optional on dn
The included cassette holds 300 suitable ordinary sheets, and the multipurpose source adds 100. Their ordinary lists include Letter, Legal and A4. The dtn's 530-sheet second cassette is optional on dn, so it is excluded from this 400-sheet assessment.
The multipurpose source handles suitable envelopes and other special materials through the prescribed output path. The rear face-up exit creates a straighter path and changes the output stack order. Leave space behind the machine and choose the application page order appropriately.
The maker also describes a printed color-swatch utility for matching application values to the printer's output. Use the intended paper and driver settings when making that comparison. A screen preview alone cannot show how the selected media changes the result.
A long banner has narrower requirements than heavy stock
The brochure promotes media extending to nearly four feet, but the operating guide supplies a specific banner procedure. It uses a suitable 105–128 gsm sheet, the rear exit and one-sheet-at-a-time feeding. The banner claim therefore does not establish a full multipurpose stack at the ordinary heavier-paper limit.
Set the actual paper dimensions and material in the compatible driver. A custom dimension alone does not approve a construction or weight, and a long sheet requires operating space beyond the stated body dimensions.
Encrypted Secure Print needs the optional hard disk
The exact brochure ties encrypted password/PIN printing to a 40 GB hard drive. That drive is standard on C6100hdn and optional on the other variants, including dn. Ordinary dn therefore does not meet a password-release requirement in this assessment.
Network security settings and job-accounting controls are different capabilities. An administrator password or encrypted connection should not be mistaken for a confidential job waiting at the machine for its owner.
Separate workload, supplies and installation space
The engine headline is up to 32 monochrome and 26 color pages per minute, without the strict Letter simplex basis established here. The 60,000-page maximum monthly duty is also separate from a recommended operating interval, which remains unknown.
The starter set is declared at 2,000 pages, below the replacement declarations based on 5% Letter coverage. Drum life assumes three-page jobs. Finally, use the longer with-duplex body depth when planning space, and allow access for output, loading and maintenance. Verify the exact compatible driver on the intended computer before relying on this earlier wired printer.

Paper, software and setup details
Print-rate conditions
The original C6100 Americas brochure gives up to 32 monochrome/26 color pages/minute without the strict Letter one-sided measurement basis. Its up-to-60000-page monthly duty is a ceiling, not an established recommended interval. No independent performance testing is implied.
Paper handling
C6100dn includes a 300-sheet Letter/Legal/universal cassette and 100-sheet multipurpose source for 400 ordinary sheets. Actual operating tables support Letter, Legal and A4 in both sources and with the installed duplex unit. Suitable duplex paper is 75–105 gsm; labels, envelopes and transparencies are excluded. The dtn second 530-sheet cassette is optional on dn and excluded. Long banners use a separate rear-output, single-sheet 105–128 gsm route up to about 47 inches, not the general heavy-stock condition.
Scanning arrangement
The exact brochure identifies multilevel LED printheads and a print-only CMYK machine. Single Pass Color describes the print engine, with no integrated document capture, glass, feeder, copying or fax.
Computer and mobile connections
The exact Americas C6100dn has standard 10/100 Ethernet and direct USB 2.0. A compatible exact-model desktop driver is required. No included wireless or native mobile printing route is established, and no network speed or capability is inferred from a later C610/C612 model.
Supplies and declared yields
The original brochure declares a complete 2000-page starter set, separate from replacement 6000 black/5000 CMY estimates at 5% Letter coverage. Four separate drums have a 20000-page estimate at three pages/job. These are coverage/job-pattern declarations, not an ISO claim or recommended monthly volume.
Software and support
PCL and PostScript emulations are included. Actual Windows PostScript duplex instructions provide long-edge or short-edge binding after the installed unit is enabled in the driver. Application settings can override driver settings, which override panel settings. Encrypted Secure Print requires an optional 40 GB hard drive on C6100dn; the included-drive model is C6100hdn. Ordinary dn is not assigned PIN release.
Electrical edition and setup
The exact original part table maps C6100dn 62426603 to 120 V and 62426604 to 230 V. Installed with-duplex body dimensions are 17.1 × 24.3 × 13.4 inches; the shorter without-duplex depth belongs to a different arrangement. The with-duplex 63.8 lb mass lacks a clear consumable basis, so loaded mass remains unknown. Allow additional rear output, multipurpose and service clearance.
