The dn configuration includes the duplex hardware

The OKI C711dn is an earlier color LED printer with included Ethernet and automatic two-sided printing. The original Americas ordering table identifies the 120V model as 62433503. Its standard paper arrangement is a 530-sheet main cassette and a 100-sheet multipurpose input.

The suffix matters: C711n has an optional duplex unit, while C711dtn adds a second ordinary cassette. Neither a family illustration nor the largest series capacity should replace the exact dn configuration when planning the installation.

Keep heavy-media and duplex limits separate

The operating guide supports automatic duplex on the applicable cassette-size range, including Letter, Legal and A4, with C711 stock from 64–220gsm. The multipurpose path supports heavier simplex material up to 250gsm, but that larger number does not extend the duplex range.

Paper longer than Legal also has a separate weight range and requires the rear exit. A long banner and an ordinary two-sided Legal document therefore need different handling choices. The guide explicitly excludes envelopes from duplex and gives their own multipurpose loading instructions.

Letterhead orientation also changes between one-sided and two-sided multipurpose jobs. Set the real source, paper size and material before printing a short check, especially when switching from ordinary documents to preprinted stock.

Count the reserve for the actual chosen size

Both included ordinary sources support Letter, Legal and A4. Their combined 630 positions assume suitable stock of the chosen size is allocated to them. A cassette holding another size cannot also contribute to that same-size reserve.

For automatic continuation between sources, the manual requires identical paper and the appropriate settings. Windows applications enable that behavior in the driver. If an accessory cassette is installed, its physical presence, software setting and loaded stock all need to agree.

The extra drawer in the dtn configuration is not included here. A used machine may have additional accessories, but inspect them before relying on their capacity.

Cost controls are different from confidential release

The maker brochure describes software for controlling color access and tracking jobs. Those controls do not by themselves establish that a confidential document waits for a PIN at the printer.

The actual Print Secure Job menu requires the optional SD card. With that storage installed, the guide describes a password search for encrypted authentication jobs and subsequent print or delete choices. The standard dn configuration is not assigned that optional-storage workflow.

If confidential release is required, establish the actual storage, driver and release procedure together. A password protecting an administrative policy is not an equivalent substitute.

Allow access behind the printer

The rear, face-up output is used for heavier material and takes priority when open. It changes stacking order and needs physical room. The operating guide's body dimensions and weight explicitly exclude the duplex unit, so they are not used as a complete fit guarantee for this dn model.

The guide also warns that local USB or parallel use can appear offline after sleep until the wake control is pressed. Check the real installation behavior and exact driver rather than assuming every pause is a broken connection.

Read the engine and supplies for what they measure

Single Pass Color describes the printing engine. It does not add a document feeder, scanner, copier or fax. Likewise, the advertised color and mono rates are not retained as verified Letter-specific figures here.

The original starter-toner declaration is lower than the replacement declarations, and the separate drums use a three-page-job life assumption. The maximum monthly duty is a different ceiling. Inspect actual consumables and service condition before assigning a sustained workload to an individual machine.
