Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can the standard 120 V wired C712dn print Legal color documents automatically on both sides with 630 suitable ordinary sheets available?
Yes. The exact Americas brochure and actual operating guide establish included duplex and 530-plus-100 standard input. Legal is documented in both sources and in the duplex size range, with the stated paper conditions.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the brochure’s Wireless Direct discussion establish ordinary included Wi-Fi hardware?
No. Wireless requires the optional LAN module. It is excluded from the ordinary wired configuration assessed here.
Explore this need in the finder →Can standard RAM alone provide the advertised Private Print password-release function?
No. The exact brochure footnote requires an SDHC card, and the actual stored-job menu is conditional on that optional card. The ordinary configuration excludes it.
Explore this need in the finder →The dn configuration includes duplex despite the accessory listing
The OKI C712dn is a color LED printer with standard automatic two-sided printing. The initial regional accessory list also shows a duplex unit, but that list does not decide what is included. The actual operating guide says it is standard on dn models, and the exact Americas brochure confirms standard duplex.
The Americas document also positively maps part 62447801 to a 120 V C712dn. This assessment uses that configuration, keeping its electrical and installed-size details separate from the 220–240 V specification page in the shared regional manual.
The ordinary input is 630 sheets, not the expanded maximum
The included 530-sheet cassette and 100-sheet multipurpose source total 630 suitable sheets at 80 gsm. Their ordinary size lists include Letter, Legal and A4. Additional second and third cassettes are optional and excluded from this standard count.
The loading instructions include a C712-specific paper-size dial. Adjust it alongside the rear stopper and side guides, then set the multipurpose size through the media menu when using that source. An application's document size does not replace the physical tray setup.
Heavy duplex paper and long banners have different limits
The operating guide permits automatic duplex on supported ordinary sizes at 64–220 gsm. That includes Letter, Legal and A4, while A6 is excluded. Envelopes use their separate multipurpose loading procedure and must not be assigned duplex.
Suitable one-sided multipurpose stock can be heavier, up to 250 gsm. Long paper exceeding Legal has a narrower stated weight range and uses the rear face-up output path. A headline about heavy media therefore cannot be applied indiscriminately to banners or two-sided work.
Opening the rear output path directs paper there regardless of the driver selection. Allow working room for that path and consider stack order. Do not open or close it while a job is printing.
Private Print needs the optional storage card
The brochure advertises Private Print with a specific footnote requiring an SDHC memory card. The actual operating menu similarly appears only when the optional card is installed. Standard RAM alone does not establish an ordinary password-release workflow.
This assessment excludes that storage option from the standard configuration. An administrator login, network encryption or an optional card-release solution is not a substitute for verified held-job release. Check both the installed card and the intended driver before planning confidential collection at the printer.
Included wired ports do not imply an included radio
USB and Gigabit Ethernet are standard, while wireless requires the optional LAN module. The brochure's Wireless Direct discussion depends on that hardware too. A radio capability claim should be checked against the actual installed configuration.
The original cloud-print promotion does not establish a currently usable service or a native AirPrint workflow. The verified ordinary plan here uses a compatible desktop driver over the included wired interfaces. This is also a print-only machine; its Single Pass Color wording does not describe a document scanner.
The Americas workload recommendation has independent support
The original US brochure recommends up to 6,000 pages per month and separately lists a 100,000-page maximum duty. Its engine headline is 37 monochrome and 35 color pages per minute, without the strict Letter simplex measurement basis established here. Regional A4 figures are kept separate.
Included toner is declared for 4,000 A4 pages, below the replacement declarations. Drum estimates depend on job pattern. Use the installed dn body dimensions when planning space: the shared guide's shorter dimensions explicitly omit the duplex unit, and additional operating and maintenance clearance is still necessary.

Paper, software and setup details
Print-rate conditions
The original Americas brochure gives up to 37 monochrome/35 color ppm without an explicit strict Letter one-sided measurement basis. The regional A4 36/34 figures are separate. The actual Americas brochure independently recommends up to 6000 pages/month, with a separate 100000-page maximum duty.
Paper handling
The standard C712dn has a 530-sheet cassette plus 100-sheet multipurpose input at 80 gsm, totaling 630 sheets. Letter, Legal and A4 are supported in both. Automatic duplex is standard on dn models and supports those ordinary sizes at 64–220 gsm. The multipurpose source supports suitable one-sided stock up to 250 gsm; long banners above Legal use a separate 90–128 gsm condition and rear output. Optional second/third cassettes are excluded. Envelopes are one-sided, up to ten within a 10 mm stack.
Scanning arrangement
The exact C712 hardware and Americas brochure describe a print-only four-color LED engine. Single Pass Color concerns printing, with no integrated glass, ADF, capture, copying or fax.
Computer and mobile connections
Direct USB and Gigabit Ethernet are standard. Wireless networking and Wireless Direct depend on the optional wireless LAN module, so no ordinary wireless plan is assigned. The host USB port is separate from the computer interface. A legacy cloud-print logo or related-products list does not establish native AirPrint or Mopria.
Supplies and declared yields
The Americas brochure declares included toner for 4000 A4 pages and replacement 11000 black/11500 color under its ISO/IEC 19798 A4 basis. Four separate drums have a 30000-page estimate at three pages/job. The current exact US support record independently repeats those replacement and drum declarations; replacement quantities are not starter quantities.
Software and support
The included desktop printing languages include PCL and PostScript emulations. Private Print requires the optional SDHC memory card, explicitly stated in the Americas footnote and the actual stored-job menu. The ordinary configuration without that option is not assigned PIN release. Administrative passwords and network security settings are different from held-job release.
Electrical edition and setup
The original Americas brochure positively maps C712dn 62447801 to 120 V. Its installed dimensions are 17.1 × 23.8 × 15.3 inches and approximate mass 68.3 lb, consistent with the regional 31 kg including supplies. The shared operating guide’s shorter depth and lower weight explicitly exclude the duplex unit and are not used for the ordinary dn footprint. Additional tray, rear path and cover clearance is required.
