MB780 (62437601, 120V)Illustrated overview
A useful fit for

A compatible Ethernet office workflow handling Legal originals, color capture, fax and PIN-held monochrome documents.

The main tradeoff

Wireless, scan-preview storage and expanded input are optional, while exact paper handling and substantial installation space need checking.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can compatible Ethernet MB780 capture Legal color originals through its single-pass feeder or Legal glass while providing PIN-held monochrome jobs?

Yes. The actual network scan-profile workflow supports the Legal-size scanner and color/duplex choices. The exact brochure positively establishes single-pass feeder capture, and the original driver procedure holds confidential jobs in memory for four-digit release.

Legal glass and single-pass feeder capture are real distinctions

The OKI MB780 is a monochrome laser multifunction printer with color document capture and telephone fax. Its original Americas brochure identifies a 75-sheet duplex feeder and twice describes scanning both original sides in one continuous pass. That is positive single-pass evidence rather than an assumption from the word duplex.

The actual operating guide also gives a genuine Legal-size glass, accepting documents up to 8.5 by 14 inches. Its feeder accepts the same maximum, supports mixed Letter and Legal originals and has its own material range. Those capabilities distinguish MB780 from smaller MFPs whose Legal claim applies only to a feeder.

A network scan profile supplies the computer workflow

The actual Scan to Computer procedure begins in a browser using the printer's IP address. Create a scan profile, choose settings and a destination on the computer, submit it, then use the assigned shortcut at the machine. This is a documented network capture route rather than an inference from the scanner hardware.

The profile options include color or grayscale output, the original size and whether the original is simplex or duplex. Orientation and binding settings also need to match the document. Higher resolution increases file size and scan time; use a suitable setting for the document rather than the largest number automatically.

Small items, photographs, thin clippings and unsuitable feeder materials belong on the glass. A large stack allowance does not approve every original construction. Keep the feeder's material and size conditions separate from the printing-paper list.

Confidential printing does not need the preview disk

The original user guide provides actual confidential-job procedures for compatible Windows and Mac drivers. Enter a four-digit PIN on the computer, send the job, then select the confidential job and enter that PIN at the machine. The data is held in printer memory.

Memory pressure can delete held jobs, so this is not permanent document storage. The exact brochure separately makes scan preview conditional on an optional hard disk. That disk is optional on MB780 even though other MB790 configurations include it. Preview and memory-based confidential release therefore have different prerequisites.

The MB780 configuration has its own input and options

The ordinary MB780 includes 650 sheets of input, while the larger family variants have a different included total. Additional cassettes and a large feeder are optional. A brochure photograph explicitly showing an optional lower tray should not be mistaken for the standard package.

Automatic print duplex is included. Before specifying a particular two-sided paper job, check its exact size and material against the operating source and driver settings. A general paper-size list or maximum stock weight should not be treated as an unrestricted duplex approval.

Suitable envelopes have their own multipurpose procedure, type selection and construction restrictions. The dedicated large envelope feeder belongs to specified other family configurations. Finishing and mailbox features likewise should not be borrowed into the ordinary MB780.

Ethernet is included; faster and wireless adapters are options

The exact Americas specification includes 10/100 Ethernet and computer USB. Gigabit Ethernet, parallel and wireless adapters are options. The network scan-profile workflow is retained separately from USB desktop printing; successful USB output does not establish the same network capture process.

This is also a monochrome printer despite its color scanner and color display. The explicit 55 ppm Letter simplex printing declaration does not establish color printing, and the scanner's sides-per-minute rate describes a different operation.

Plan around a substantial earlier office MFP

The exact order number 62437601 is the 120 V MB780. Its body is over two feet tall, before scanner-opening and service space. Use appropriate moving assistance and supporting furniture for the actual installed configuration.

The starter and replacement cartridge declarations differ, and their ISO basis is separate from the 275,000-page maximum monthly duty. A recommended monthly interval remains unestablished. Verify compatible drivers, the receiving computer and intended document routine before relying on this earlier multifunction system.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

The exact Americas brochure gives 55 ppm printing with an explicit Letter simplex laboratory footnote. Its separate copy and scanner sides/minute rates are not substituted. Maximum monthly duty is 275000; a recommended interval is unestablished.

Paper handling

The exact MB780 includes 650 sheets, with a 100-sheet multipurpose feeder and standard cassette; MB790 variants have different included capacity. Letter, Legal and A4 printing and included automatic duplex are positively documented. Precise named-size duplex/source-capacity table symbols are not established from the indexed extraction, so plan duplex_sizes and exact-size capacity remain unassigned; confirmed automatic duplex is retained for unspecified-size needs. Additional trays and large feeder are optional.

Scanning arrangement

The exact Americas brochure twice describes its 75-sheet DADF scanning both original sides in one single continuous pass. Actual guide accepts feeder originals 76.2 × 139.4 through 215.9 × 355.6 mm, including mixed Letter/Legal, with 52–120 gsm media. Glass accepts up to 8.5 × 14 inches, so genuine Legal glass is supported. Actual network scan-profile options include color, original size and simplex/duplex source settings.

Computer and mobile connections

Included USB 2.0 and 10/100 Ethernet are distinct from optional Gigabit, parallel and wireless adapters. Actual Scan to Computer uses the printer IP address, a computer-created profile and network destination; USB desktop scanning is not borrowed from that network workflow. Native mobile services remain unestablished.

Supplies and declared yields

Exact Americas brochure gives an 18000-page starter and 36000-page one-piece replacement print cartridge under ISO 19752 conditions. Finisher staples and mailbox hardware belong to other variants, not ordinary MB780. No measured cost or yield testing is claimed.

Software and support

Actual original guide 133–134 provides four-digit confidential jobs held in memory and released at the panel through compatible Windows or Mac drivers, with no hard-disk prerequisite. Insufficient memory can delete held jobs. Scan preview in the exact Americas brochure requires the optional hard disk, which is optional on MB780 and included on MB790 variants; preview is not assigned to the included model.

Electrical edition and setup

The exact Americas table maps MB780 62437601 to 120 V. Its body is 21.6 × 24.1 × 29.7 inches, taller and deeper than a small desktop MFP. The brochure 100 lb value lacks a clear consumable basis, so loaded mass remains unknown. Actual guide calls for multiple trained movers and appropriate supporting furniture for expanded floor configurations; allow tray, door, scanner and ventilation access.
