Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can ordinary wired MC160 make color Letter documents and scan Legal originals in color through its feeder with 200-sheet input?
Yes. The included main source supports the named print size and 200 suitable sheets, while the actual USB/network TWAIN/WIA workflow uses the 35-sheet Legal-capable feeder.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the ordinary machine include automatic Legal two-sided printing?
No. Duplex hardware is optional, and its actual supported automatic route is Letter/A4 plain paper rather than Legal.
Explore this need in the finder →Can the Legal feeder specification be used as Legal flatbed evidence?
No. The actual original-document table limits the glass to Letter/A4. Legal originals belong in the feeder.
Explore this need in the finder →The slow color rate is a real workflow distinction
The OKI MC160 combines color laser printing, copying, color scanning and telephone fax. The original manual explicitly declares 20 monochrome and 5 color pages per minute for simplex Letter or A4 plain-paper printing. Color output is therefore a different throughput proposition from its monochrome headline.
The Americas brochure identifies part 44292401 as 120 V and gives a separate number for 230 V. This assessment follows the documented Americas edition and exact MC160 operating instructions, with no independent speed or cost testing implied.
Two hundred sheets are included
The standard main source holds 200 suitable ordinary sheets and accepts Letter, Legal and A4. The advertised 700-sheet maximum requires the optional 500-sheet lower source. Its Letter and A4 versions have separate ordering numbers; it is not a universal extra Legal cassette.
Thicker stock also has a shorter permitted length than ordinary paper. Select the actual material and dimensions together, rather than combining the greatest weight and greatest length from different rows. Stack height and paper condition remain part of the loading procedure.
Automatic duplex is an optional Letter/A4 arrangement
The ordinary MC160 does not include the automatic print duplex unit. The actual accessory instructions further require either the lower tray or a specified attachment to support installation. A photograph showing duplex hardware may therefore depict an equipped configuration.
Even with that option, the operating limitations restrict automatic duplex to suitable Letter/A4 plain paper. Legal acceptance in the ordinary source does not establish Legal automatic duplex. The original duplex-copy procedure scans two single-sided originals and prints them on one sheet; that does not establish a two-sided document scanner.
Legal capture belongs to the feeder
The 35-sheet feeder accepts originals up to Legal, while the glass is limited to Letter/A4. The original document table provides an 80 gsm feeder capacity basis and separate material restrictions. Use the glass for suitable books and individual originals, subject to its size and weight limits.
Automatic two-sided feeder capture is not established here. A two-sided copy output option, a numeric keypad and a document feeder are insufficient to prove that both original sides are captured automatically.
The computer bridge differs from a USB stick
The actual guide gives TWAIN/WIA scanning from a computer connected by USB or network. Start the compatible application and scanner driver, choose the required settings and scan area, then initiate capture. That is a documented computer workflow rather than an inference from the front socket.
The front USB connection instead accepts a memory stick as a scan destination. It is distinct from the high-speed USB computer port. Ethernet also supports network workflows, but neither connection establishes included wireless or a native mobile printing service.
The Americas printing specification is host-based GDI, so exact compatible software matters. Verify both printing and scanning on the intended computer; a successful network connection alone does not supply every desktop function.
Separate supplies, copy speed and installation assumptions
The starter color cartridges are declared at 500 pages and black at 1,000, below their replacement declarations. Their stated basis is 5% Letter coverage. Color copy speed from the feeder is also different from color print speed. Do not use either figure as a measured cost or throughput promise for a different job.
The 35,000-print/copy monthly duty is a ceiling, with no recommended interval established here. Loaded-weight declarations differ between the brochure and accessory instructions, so a single comparable mass remains unknown. Plan opening, loading and maintenance space beyond the closed body, and identify any fitted expansion hardware separately.

Paper, software and setup details
Print-rate conditions
The original manual explicitly declares simplex plain-paper Letter/A4 print speed of 20 monochrome/5 color ppm. Color copy from ADF has a distinct 3.3 cpm declaration and must not replace print speed. Monthly duty is 35000 prints/copies, not a recommended monthly interval.
Paper handling
The ordinary included 200-sheet main multipurpose source supports Letter, Legal and A4. The 500-sheet second tray is optional and separately ordered for Letter or A4. Automatic print duplex is optional; actual installation requires either tray 2 or the specified attachment, and optional duplex is restricted to suitable Letter/A4 plain paper, not Legal. Thick stock has a shorter length range than ordinary paper.
Scanning arrangement
Color and monochrome capture uses Letter/A4 glass or the 35-sheet feeder accepting up to Legal. Actual original document table specifies 35 sheets at 80 gsm and glass maximum A4/Letter. The actual driver operation provides USB/network TWAIN or WIA computer capture; only confirmed simplex feeder routes are recorded. Automatic scan duplex and single-pass mechanics remain unestablished; two-simplex-to-duplex copying does not prove them.
Computer and mobile connections
High-speed computer USB 2.0 and 10/100 Ethernet are included. Front USB 1.1 is a memory-stick scan destination, not the computer bridge. Exact compatible desktop printing and scanning software is required. No included wireless or native mobile route is established.
Supplies and declared yields
The exact Americas brochure declares 500-page CMY and 1000-page black starters; ordinary CMY replacements are 1500 pages and high-capacity CMYK 2500 at 5% Letter coverage, not an ISO declaration. Image-drum/waste-box estimates differ between color and monochrome and depend on job pattern. Scan-resolution statements conflict within brochure, so a single numerical resolution is not assigned.
Software and support
Actual original guide provides TWAIN/WIA capture from a USB- or network-connected computer, with preview, scan-area selection and explicit Scan action. The exact Americas brochure identifies host-based GDI printing and PaperPort/Windows capture support. No confidential PIN-release procedure is established from a keypad, fax code or network feature.
Electrical edition and setup
The exact Americas table maps MC160 44292401 to 120 V and 44292402 to 230 V. Closed brochure body is 15.9 × 16.8 × 17.0 inches. Brochure loaded mass 18.8 kg conflicts with original accessory-installation warning around 21 kg fully loaded; comparable loaded mass is left unknown. Allow extra glass/feeder, source, output and service space; keep installed consumables level when moving.
