Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can a compatible USB desktop print Legal from 250 suitable main-tray positions and use documented color feeder capture when scan size is flexible?
Yes. The actual guide supports Legal in the main tray and establishes USB computer capture with a color scanner and 40-page ADF. Complete named-sheet scan coverage remains separate.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the FLB811 document separator establish automatic duplex scanning?
No. It separates output destinations. The actual source establishes ordinary document capture without confirming automatic two-sided capture.
Explore this need in the finder →Does its fax telephone connector provide an Ethernet computer workflow?
No. The actual computer interface is USB; the telephone connection supports the separate fax arrangement.

The Panasonic KX-FLB811 is an earlier monochrome laser fax MFP with a flatbed, a 40-page document feeder and USB computer functions. Its original US instructions also cover KX-FLB801, but the FLB811 has a distinctive two-piece output arrangement. That detail helps organize paper leaving the machine; it does not establish a more advanced scanner mechanism.
By default, computer prints and copies go to the upper output, while received faxes go to the lower output. The guide provides separate settings for changing those destinations. In a small office, keeping incoming fax pages apart from a person's print job may be more useful than treating every shared-manual feature as a general specification.
Keep output capacity apart from input capacity
The upper output holds approximately 100 sheets and the lower one approximately 50, with removal required before either becomes full. These are receiving positions, not extra blank-paper supplies. The main input separately holds up to 250 suitable lighter-weight sheets and supports Letter, Legal and A4.
Heavier ordinary stock reduces the permitted input count. Set the paper-size controls and guides to the actual stack rather than relying on the default Letter setting when loading Legal or A4.
The manual input takes one page and is explicitly reserved for computer printing. It is useful for appropriate special media, including suitable envelopes, but it should not be counted as a manual copy-paper source. Load the individual sheet after starting the computer job as directed.
For envelopes, select the supported size and media type, use the individual manual route and remove the printed envelope promptly. This remains a separate one-sided routine.
A real USB computer-capture workflow
Multi-Function Station provides the documented computer arrangement. The guide instructs installation before connecting the USB cable when prompted. With compatible software, a user can acquire documents in Multi-Function Viewer or through a TWAIN application, then save the resulting computer file.
The original instructions list historic Windows versions and specifically exclude XP Professional x64. That is a reminder to check the intended computer and exact driver, not a promise that an old disc supports every present system. Verify both an ordinary print and a saved scan before relying on the installation.
No included network computer-capture arrangement is established here. The telephone connection supports fax; it is not an Ethernet interface. An optional handset is also separate from the USB desktop workflow.
Color scanning has different limits from printing
The color contact image sensor can capture color information, while printed output remains monochrome. The glass serves individually positioned originals, and the feeder handles suitable loose packets. Prepare the originals within the stated weight and stack restrictions, removing clips and waiting for ink or correction fluid to dry.
The guide distinguishes physical document dimensions from effective captured area. Complete named-sheet scan coverage is not assigned solely from those dimensions. The ordinary glass and feeder routes are established, while automatic two-sided capture and single-pass mechanics remain unconfirmed.
Likewise, separate output trays do not turn a one-sided scan into duplex scanning. Automatic print duplex is not established either; the recording-paper instructions advise avoiding double-sided printing.
Check an earlier unit as a complete installation
The stated print speed lacks a confirmed Letter-specific condition, and consumable yields use their own coverage assumptions. Starter toner, replacement toner and the separate drum need individual inspection. None of those figures establishes a monthly workload target.
Verify the US electrical label, actual analog fax arrangement, software availability and working access around the body. Choose the FLB811 for its proven USB workflow and practical output separation when those functions match the office's documents.

Paper, software and setup details
Print-rate conditions
The original US instructions state approximately 18 ppm without identifying a Letter-specific print test. No precise Letter rate, recommended monthly interval or maximum duty is assigned.
Paper handling
The main tray positively supports Letter, Legal and A4 with up to 250 sheets at 60–75 gsm, 230 at 80 gsm or 200 at 90 gsm. The separate manual input holds one page and is for computer printing only. A computer print configuration has 251 suitable positions; exact-size capacity below conservatively uses the main tray’s 250. Suitable #10 or DL envelopes use the manual input individually. Automatic print duplex is not established and the paper chapter advises avoiding double-sided printing.
Scanning arrangement
The flatbed and 40-page ADF have positive USB Multi-Function Viewer and TWAIN computer scanning procedures, with color CIS hardware. The original distinguishes effective scan area from physical originals; complete named-sheet capture coverage is not established here. Confirmed flatbed and ordinary feeder routes retain empty named-size lists. Automatic duplex and single-pass capture are unknown. The exact FLB811 document separator refers to two output destinations, not automatic two-sided capture.
Computer and mobile connections
The documented computer connection is USB, with a shielded cable up to two metres and a compatible Multi-Function Station installation. Analog fax uses its telephone-line connection. No included Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct or native mobile protocol arrangement is established.
Supplies and declared yields
The starter declaration is about 800 Letter pages at 5% image area. Replacement KX-FA87 and KX-FA85 declarations are about 2,500 and 5,000 Letter pages at 5% image area, with a separate KX-FA86 drum. These are coverage-based estimates, not ISO claims or a monthly workload recommendation. Check actual installed supplies and service condition.
Software and support
The original procedure installs Multi-Function Station before attaching USB when prompted. It documents Viewer capture, saved computer files, Readiris OCR and TWAIN applications. Listed historic Windows support explicitly excludes XP Professional x64. Current computer compatibility needs a real driver and capture-application check. The two output-tray selections belong specifically to FLB811 in the shared guide.
Electrical edition and setup
The exact guide says the product is designed only for the USA and specifies 120 V AC, 60 Hz. Approximate body dimensions are 17 5/16 × 17 1/2 × 12 1/2 inches. Approximate mass does not positively establish a complete loaded measurement, so weight remains unknown. The telephone handset is optional. Allow clearance for the originals, extended outputs and service access.
