Aficio SP3500N (406957)Illustrated overview
A useful fit for

A compatible small-office routine needing ordinary documents and a stacked bypass without an integrated scanner.

The main tradeoff

Automatic duplex belongs to the 3510DN. Extra 550-sheet capacity requires a drawer, and native mobile protocols are not established.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can the 3500N provide USB monochrome Legal printing with 300 included ordinary sheets?

Yes. The exact computer interface, paper ranges and 250+50-sheet standard input are documented.

A simple wired monochrome printer with a tilting status panel

The Ricoh Aficio SP 3500N is an earlier dedicated monochrome laser printer with USB, Ethernet and a two-line tilting display. It offers a real stacked bypass alongside the ordinary cassette, making it relevant for a compatible small-office routine that switches between document paper and supported special-media jobs.

The exact US N model is part 406957. Its two-sided printing routine is manual. The SP3510DN shares the brochure but adds automatic duplex, so the two suffixes should not be treated as equivalent when selecting an unattended two-sided workflow.

Manual duplex and the high-resolution mode change the job

The manufacturer declares 30ppm Letter monochrome output. The 1200 ×1200dpi mode has a stated 50percent productivity condition. Higher resolution and a standard one-sided speed headline therefore should not be combined into a promise that every mode finishes at the same rate.

Manual duplex requires the supported driver instructions and correct paper reinsertion. The automatic Letter, Legal and A4 duplex permissions in the specification belong to 3510DN. They do not add automatic sheet turning to the 3500N, even though ordinary input handles those same sizes.

The two included stacks total 300 sheets

A250-sheet main cassette and 50-sheet bypass provide the included ordinary input. Their paper lists cover Letter, Legal and A4. Envelopes and labels use the bypass under the actual loading instructions, rather than an assumed automatic two-sided path.

The optional 250-sheet TK1080 drawer raises expanded capacity to 550 and adds height below the body. It should be identified in an actual offer before its capacity is assumed. The 125-sheet output is smaller than the combined input, so a longer job may require clearing the exit while paper remains loaded.

Check the exact wired computer arrangement

USB is the computer-cable route and Ethernet is the shared-network interface. Both need the exact supported driver and real configuration. The brochure's historical Windows and Macintosh list is useful background, but does not establish compatibility with every current computer.

No included Wi-Fi, AirPrint, Mopria or Wi-Fi Direct arrangement is established here. Network management through Web Image Monitor should not be mistaken for a native phone-printing protocol. A wireless feature or driver from a different Ricoh model should not fill that gap.

PCL reception and supplied drivers are different claims

The controller includes 64MB with PCL6 and PostScript 3 emulation. The footnote separately says it can receive PCL5e commands although that driver is not provided. Confirm the actual required language and current exact-model software rather than treating every PCL reference as an identical installation package.

Advanced functions vary with the active driver or page-description language. Locked Print is named, but that name alone does not establish a precise supported PIN collection routine. A dedicated printer also does not acquire scanning, copying or fax from a broad family-style cover.

Inspect the complete older hardware and supplies

The body is 14.57 ×15.43 ×10.41 inches and 25.8 pounds including consumables, using the US110–120V/60Hz configuration. Allow paper, output, cable and front service access. The optional drawer adds another 3.5 inches; the neighboring DN's heavier weight is not the N configuration's measurement.

The original starter is declared at 1500 pages, with 2500- and 6400-print replacements listed separately. The all-in-one cartridge combines drum and toner, but a yield declaration does not establish remaining supplies or current cost. Choose the 3500N for supported wired monochrome output with 300 included sheets, provided manual duplex suits the routine and scanning or native mobile protocols are not essential.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

Declared standard-mode Letter output is 30 ppm; 1200 dpi has reduced productivity. The 3510DN automatic duplex rate does not belong to manual-duplex 3500N.

Paper handling

Included input is 250 cassette plus 50 bypass sheets; optional TK1080 adds 250. Letter/Legal/A4 paths are documented. Automatic duplex permission belongs to 3510DN.

Scanning arrangement

Dedicated monochrome laser printer without scanner, feeder, copy or fax hardware.

Computer and mobile connections

USB and Ethernet are standard. No included wireless or native mobile route is established. Network management does not provide a scanner.

Supplies and declared yields

The exact starter and SP3400LA/SP3500XA replacement declarations are distinct from the older 3400N high-yield part. Yield is not remaining toner or current cost.

Software and support

Use the exact PCL/PS driver and actual tilting-panel configuration. Received PCL5e commands and a named Locked Print feature do not establish every supplied driver or precise PIN procedure.

Electrical edition and setup

US 3500N 406957 uses 110–120 V, 60 Hz. Body: 14.57 × 15.43 × 10.41 inches, 25.8 lb including consumables. The optional drawer adds height.
