Aficio SP C210 (documented US 120V configuration)Illustrated overview
A useful fit for

A verified compatible computer routine needing wired color documents on Letter or A4.

The main tradeoff

Color output is substantially slower than monochrome in the original A4 ratings, and Legal paper needs optional hardware.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can the included cassette provide color Letter output and 250 ordinary sheets over USB?

Yes, with a compatible computer driver and USB connection.

Explore this need in the finder →
Is Legal printing ready with the ordinary supplied cassette?

No. The documented Legal cassette is an option, so the base configuration does not satisfy that requirement.

A USB color printer with a meaningful paper-tray distinction

The Ricoh Aficio SP C210 is an earlier print-only color laser printer. Its documented configuration is suited to a compatible computer connected by USB, with Letter or A4 documents loaded in the standard 250-sheet cassette. It should be evaluated as that specific older machine, rather than as a smaller version of a newer network multifunction printer.

The paper configuration matters especially to anyone printing Legal documents. Although Legal appears in the original media list, the accompanying footnote requires an optional replacement cassette. A broad size list therefore does not mean every listed format is ready in the ordinary supplied tray.

Separate the Legal cassette from the extra paper feeder

The original operating guide describes two distinct accessories. The Type 1000 auxiliary cassette replaces the standard tray arrangement to accommodate Legal paper. The separate Type 1000 paper-feed unit adds another paper source beneath the printer, but that feeder's documented paper formats are Letter and A4.

Buying an additional feeder is consequently different from obtaining the correct Legal cassette. Check the actual accessory, its function and the supplied configuration. The standard 250-sheet capacity should also remain separate from the larger capacity possible after adding optional hardware.

Envelopes are another separate loading routine. The original tray table allows approximately 15 envelopes rather than a full ordinary-paper stack. Match the selected media setting to the material and keep the envelope workload distinct from normal document capacity.

Color output is slower than monochrome output

The original operating instructions declare 31 monochrome sheets per minute and eight color sheets per minute on A4 plain paper. This difference is relevant if most of the workload consists of color pages. A large black-text speed figure should not be treated as the color engine's throughput.

The same guide lists first-page timings measured after data reception. Those values do not include every part of opening a file, preparing the job or warming a previously idle machine. The figures are useful when their original conditions are retained; they are not a substitute for a timed test of a particular computer and document.

Check the exact computer connection and driver first

The documented interface is USB 1.1, with a full-speed 12Mbps connection. The original software list names Windows 98, ME, 2000 and XP, plus Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X. These historical driver names establish the machine's original environment, rather than current compatibility with every later system.

Before buying, confirm a working driver for the computer actually in use and the correct cable connection. Ethernet, ordinary Wi-Fi, AirPrint and Mopria are not established here. A connection through another computer would require its own confirmed arrangement. It should not be presented as native network or mobile functionality.

Budget for separate cartridges and waste handling

The original starter cartridges are declared at 1000 pages each. Replacement black and color yields differ, and the manual also separates continuous printing from repeated two-page jobs. Its 5%-coverage conditions should remain visible when comparing those figures; they are not an ISO yield or a current cost-per-page calculation.

The waste toner bottle is a separate replacement item with different declared figures for monochrome and color work. A fresh cartridge does not renew every service part in an older printer. Check suitable supplies and the condition of the offered machine together.

Allow practical access around the printer

The documented US mainframe measures 18.9 × 16.5 × 15.2 inches and weighs approximately 64 pounds with consumables. An optional feeder changes the installed height and weight. Leave room to load paper, reach cables and open the service covers rather than measuring only the closed body.

Choose the SP C210 around a confirmed compatible USB printing routine. Buyers who require included Legal handling, automatic duplex, native mobile printing or scanning should verify those exact requirements against the supplied hardware before treating this machine as a match.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

Original operating guide rates 31 monochrome and 8 color sheets per minute on A4 plain paper. First-page 13 seconds monochrome and 19 color starts after data reception. These are not Letter measurements or complete-job timings; no monthly duty or recommended range is established.

Paper handling

Standard 250-sheet tray supports Letter and A4. Legal requires optional Type 1000 replacement cassette for tray 1; the separate optional 530-sheet feeder supports Letter/A4, not Legal. Envelopes use tray 1 with about 15-sheet capacity. Included configuration is not a 780-sheet or Legal-ready bundle. Automatic duplex is not established.

Scanning arrangement

This is a dedicated printer. It has no document scanner, automatic document feeder, copying or fax function.

Computer and mobile connections

Original specification lists USB 1.1 full-speed 12Mbps computer connection. Ethernet, ordinary Wi-Fi and native mobile printing are not established. Check exact compatible driver and computer operating system before purchase.

Supplies and declared yields

Original starter cartridges: 1000 pages each. Continuous 5%-coverage A4/Letter rating is 2500 black and 1500 each CMY; two-page jobs lower those declarations to 2100 and 1250. Waste bottle ratings also differ by monochrome/color and continuous/two-page job conditions. These are not ISO yields or current running costs.

Software and support

64 MB printer memory and JBIG page-description language in original guide. Historical bundled drivers cover Windows 98/ME/2000/XP and Mac OS 9/X; those names do not guarantee modern compatibility. No private PIN print procedure is established. Print-only machine.

Electrical edition and setup

Original US 120 VAC/60 Hz configuration. Main frame 18.9 × 16.5 × 15.2 inches and approximately 64 lb with consumables. Setup guide calls for access to covers and paper paths. Optional feeder adds height and weight; allow working clearance rather than treating closed body measurements as the whole installation.
