Aficio SP C240SF (406873)Illustrated overview
A useful fit for

A compatible wired color-document routine needing computer scanning, copying and conventional fax.

The main tradeoff

Wi-Fi is optional. Automatic two-sided scanning and the ADF stack count are not established by this exact specification.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can the C240SF combine USB color A4 glass scanning with flexible-size automatic duplex printing?

Yes. Its scanner interface explicitly includes USB, the glass covers A4 and automatic printing duplex is standard.

Does the C240SF automatically scan both sides in one pass?

That is not established. The ADF and printing duplex do not prove single-pass capture.

Does the basic C240SF include ordinary Wi-Fi?

No. The external wireless adaptor is an option; USB and Ethernet are standard.

A color multifunction model that needs its own controller check

The Ricoh Aficio SP C240SF is an earlier color laser multifunction device for printing, scanning, copying and fax. It provides standard USB and Ethernet, a flatbed for supported originals and a document-feeder route for longer loose sheets.

The exact US configuration is part 406873. Its host-based DDST/GDI print controller and 16ppm Letter declaration distinguish it from the C242SF. Similar bodies and family numbers should not make the C242SF's print languages, speed or cartridge yields appear in this model's review.

Check software before choosing an older color machine

The C240SF lists DDST/GDI with 256MB of memory. Verify a current working exact-model driver for the intended computer rather than assuming a PCL or PostScript-emulation package for a neighboring model will work. The brochure's operating-system list describes its original support period.

The scanner has explicitly listed USB and Ethernet interfaces with TWAIN/WIA support. Those provide documented compatible computer-scanning routes when the actual software and settings are installed. Fax uses a separate G3 PSTN/PBX telephone arrangement; a functioning network destination does not establish a working fax connection.

Match the original to the glass or feeder

The glass accepts originals up to 8.5 × 11.7 inches, covering Letter and A4. The feeder accepts longer originals up to 8.5 × 14 inches. Use that feeder route for a full Legal sheet rather than describing Legal as fully supported on the shorter glass.

This exact specification does not state the feeder's stack count, so that number is not borrowed from the C242SF. Automatic two-sided original capture and single-pass scanning are also unconfirmed. Duplex-copy and ID-card-copy features do not independently establish a duplex document feeder.

The included paper stack is smaller than the expanded headline

The ordinary cassette holds 250 sheets, with a separate single-sheet bypass. The optional 500-sheet drawer supports Letter and A4. The maximum 751-sheet figure includes that extra hardware and the individually fed piece; it is not an included ordinary stack.

Automatic duplex printing is standard. The source lists general input sizes but does not separately establish each size's duplex permission. The questionnaire therefore confirms the automatic feature when paper size is flexible, rather than guessing that every general tray size is approved for two-sided printing.

Wireless and native mobile protocols are different questions

The external SX-2500CG wireless adaptor is optional, while USB and Ethernet are standard. The wireless option and wired Ethernet cannot operate simultaneously. Confirm the actual supported hardware if an older offer is described as wireless.

PictBridge camera printing uses a separate USB host function. It does not establish native AirPrint, Mopria or Wi-Fi Direct, and Bonjour discovery is not a substitute for those protocol confirmations. Choose a model with a documented exact route when a native mobile requirement is essential.

Use C240SF supplies and dimensions when assessing the offer

The manufacturer declares 16ppm Letter in monochrome or color, with different multiple-copy behavior. No separate duplex print rate or sustained monthly recommendation is established. The body measures 16.5 × 19.4 × 18.7 inches and weighs 66.2 pounds including consumables; allow working access beyond the closed enclosure.

The original starter declaration is 1,000 pages, with C220A replacements declared at 2,300 pages for each CMYK color. Higher-yield C242SF cartridge figures do not belong here. Check the actual supplies, US 120V/60Hz label and current software. The C240SF fits a supported wired color routine needing scanning and fax without essential included Wi-Fi or automatic two-sided scanning.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

Exact C240SF Letter print/copy output is 16 ppm. Multi-original copy rates and the faster C242SF are separate conditions; no sustained monthly range is established.

Paper handling

The 250-sheet cassette and individual bypass are included. Optional 500-sheet input is Letter/A4. Automatic print duplex is standard, but exact duplex sizes remain unassigned.

Scanning arrangement

Color glass reaches 8.5 × 11.7 inches; the ADF reaches Legal. Its stack count is not borrowed from C242SF. USB/Ethernet computer capture is documented; automatic duplex capture is unestablished.

Computer and mobile connections

USB computer and Ethernet interfaces are standard. PictBridge/USB-host functions are separate. The optional external wireless adapter cannot operate simultaneously with Ethernet.

Supplies and declared yields

The original separates 1000-page starter toner from the exact C220A replacement family. C242SF higher-yield cartridges are not substituted; yield is not current cost or remaining toner.

Software and support

Exact C240SF uses host-based DDST/GDI with 256 MB memory, rather than C242SF PCL/PS emulation. Use compatible drivers; fax needs a compatible telephone arrangement.

Electrical edition and setup

US C240SF 406873 uses 120 V, 60 Hz. Body: 16.5 × 19.4 × 18.7 inches, 66.2 lb including consumables. Optional drawers and scanner/service access add space.
