Ricoh Aficio SP C811DN-T2 review

The T2 is a supplied paper configuration, not a basic DN

The Ricoh Aficio SP C811DN-T2 is an earlier color laser printer supplied with four 550-sheet cassettes and a 100-sheet bypass. That 2300-sheet Letter configuration is a different starting point from the two-cassette basic DN. It should also be distinguished from the larger-capacity DL arrangement and the T3 bundle.

This assessment concerns the documented US120V/60Hz T2 configuration. The exact supplied paper units matter to the buying decision, while the individual machine's accessories, service condition and software support still need checking.

Larger-paper capacity is lower than the Letter headline

The first cassette is specified for Letter. The other three 550-sheet cassettes support the stated range through 11 ×17-inch Tabloid. With the bypass, the ordinary included capacity is therefore 1750 for Legal, A4 or Tabloid, compared with 2300 for Letter.

A3 fits the broader 12-inch bypass width, rather than the narrower cassette maximum. It uses that 100-sheet path. Someone needing a large loaded stack of A3 sheets has a different requirement from a Letter-heavy office and should not receive a false match from the biggest headline number.

Automatic duplex does not include a finishing system

Automatic two-sided printing is standard within the stated 60–169gsm duplex range. Heavier one-sided bypass stock has different conditions. A long banner option also depends on the specified Ricoh RPCS workflow, rather than every driver sharing the same long-sheet permission.

The ordinary output tray holds 500 sheets. Stapling, booklet work and higher finishing capacities require the actual accessories and bridge unit. The source specifically excludes finishers from the T3 configuration; that restriction should not be transferred blindly to T2, but neither should optional finishing be treated as included.

The separate scanner upgrade does not make the T2 a multifunction printer

The brochure describes an IS300e image scanner that can add scanning and convenience copying. It is a separate upgrade. The ordinary T2 remains print-only, so a network utility, a copy-protection feature or an optional scanner photograph should not satisfy a requirement for built-in computer capture.

Likewise, optional camera printing needs its own card and USB host interface. That is different from standard USB computer printing. Evaluate the hardware actually supplied instead of combining every family accessory into one imagined configuration.

Use the supported wired route and check legacy software

Standard interfaces are 100Mbps Ethernet and USB. Wireless, Bluetooth, Gigabit Ethernet, parallel and USB host interfaces are options, with only one additional interface installable. Native AirPrint, Mopria and Wi-Fi Direct are not established by older Bonjour or Rendezvous discovery support.

The T2 includes 512MB memory and a 40GB disk. Genuine Adobe PostScript 3, PCL, RPCS and PDF Direct are documented. Locked Print is named without settling a precise panel PIN procedure and all prerequisites in this source, so private collection remains unconfirmed here rather than inferred from the disk alone.

Measure the whole installation and its remaining service needs

The manufacturer declares 40ppm color or monochrome output without an independently explicit paper-size condition here. That is not converted into a specific Letter or A4 rate. Separate first-page and warm-up declarations also do not predict a whole mixed-job completion time.

The brochure's mainframe dimensions describe the basic body, rather than a fully measured four-cassette T2 installation. Check its actual height, weight and floor plan, including any finishing system. Toner, photoconductors, transfer parts, waste bottle and fuser have separate declarations. Choose the T2 for a confirmed wired workflow and the capacity of its actual paper paths, then verify exact software, accessories and machine condition.
