MP501SPF (407809,NorthAmerican120V)Illustrated overview
A useful fit for

A compatible wired network routine needing Legal originals, automatic two-sided capture and authenticated collection.

The main tradeoff

The feeder reverses rather than scans in one pass. USB computer attachment and ordinary Wi-Fi require optional hardware.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can standard Ethernet combine Legal glass capture, reversing Legal scanning, private collection and 600 included input sheets?

Yes. The exact North American computer-network arrangement includes these document functions and storage.

A network office multifunction printer with real Legal glass

The Ricoh MP501SPF combines monochrome laser output with color scanning, copying and fax. Its useful distinctions include a 75-sheet reversing feeder, a genuinely Legal-size glass and a large 10.1-inch touchscreen. These features suit a compatible shared-office routine more than an occasional printer-only task.

This assessment uses the North American 407809 configuration with 120V/60Hz power. The nearby MP601SPF has a different declared engine rate and duty figure. A shared family name should not erase those exact-model distinctions or establish the condition of a particular older offer.

Choose the original path around the documents you handle

The glass explicitly supports up to 8.5 ×14-inch originals, so Legal capture is not restricted to loose feeder sheets. Books or originals unsuitable for the feeder still need to fit the glass and be handled according to the operating instructions.

The 75-sheet automatic reversing feeder handles one- or two-sided originals. It is not single-pass scanning. The manufacturer separately declares simplex and duplex scan rates, with lower color figures than monochrome. Those image rates should not become print speeds or a promise for a complete scan-and-send job.

Included 600-sheet input and 2600-sheet expansion are different

The standard 500-sheet cassette plus 100-sheet bypass gives 600 loaded input sheets. Four optional 500-sheet banks explain the 2600-sheet maximum. Count the units actually fitted before expecting expanded capacity from a used or differently configured machine.

Automatic print duplex is standard, and the brochure explicitly describes Legal two-sided output. Suitable paper weight remains important. Heavier bypass stock has a different range, while envelopes use the bypass or optional trays rather than the main cassette. The 500-sheet output tray is a separate limit during longer work.

Ethernet is standard; a USB computer interface is optional

Standard Gigabit Ethernet supports the documented network computer-scanning and printing routine. The source explicitly requires standard Ethernet or the optional wireless interface for network TWAIN and scan-to modes. Configure the scanner destination, credentials and compatible driver around that actual route.

The visible USB host ports and SD slots support media tasks. They are different from a USB TypeB computer interface, which is optional here. A user who needs a directly attached USB computer should not be recommended the base machine merely because the brochure shows USB ports.

Private collection and native mobile printing remain separate workflows

The standard configuration includes 2GB RAM and a 320GB disk. The brochure describes passcode-based user authentication and Locked Print that releases documents after the authorized user authenticates at the machine. This provides a documented basis for private collection in a supported computer workflow.

Native AirPrint is also listed, but that does not independently establish the same driver-specific private-job routine for AirPrint jobs. The questionnaire keeps those routes separate. Optional identity-card readers, OCR and accounting software should likewise be checked individually rather than assumed from the large touchscreen.

Plan the working space and sustained job pattern

The manufacturer declares 52ppm Letter monochrome output for the 501SPF. Its 16600-print maximum monthly volume and 250000-print duty cycle are separate figures, not an explicitly recommended sustained range. Real files, scanning settings and network conditions affect the complete workflow.

The mainframe measures 18.7 ×19.84 ×25.39 inches and is listed at 61.6 pounds. Three or four extra banks require the specified caster arrangement, whose stabilizers change floor-space needs. Starter and replacement toner declarations are 10000 and 25000 pages; those do not indicate remaining supplies. Choose the 501SPF for confirmed network work, Legal glass capture and supported private collection, while verifying software, optional interfaces and the exact physical configuration.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

Exact 501SPF declares 52 ppm Letter output, distinct from 601SPF. Scanner simplex/duplex image rates use separate conditions. Maximum monthly volume and duty do not establish an explicit recommended interval.

Paper handling

Included input is 500 main plus 100 bypass sheets. Legal automatic duplex is explicitly confirmed; other exact duplex sizes remain unassigned. Optional banks and envelope paths follow separate rules.

Scanning arrangement

The 75-sheet Legal reversing ADF and explicit 8.5 × 14-inch glass support color network computer capture. USB-host/SD saving is different from USB computer scanning.

Computer and mobile connections

Gigabit Ethernet and host sockets are standard. Type-B computer USB requires optional M19; ordinary Wi-Fi requires M24. AirPrint uses the documented ordinary network.

Supplies and declared yields

The original separates 10000-page starter, 25000-page replacement and feed-roller declarations. Yield does not establish remaining toner, current cost or maintenance-free ownership.

Software and support

The included disk supports documented password-controlled Locked Print. Native AirPrint does not inherit the desktop private-job workflow. OCR, readers and accounting features have separate requirements.

Electrical edition and setup

North American 407809 specifies 120 V, 60 Hz, 15 A. Main body: 18.7 × 19.84 × 25.39 inches, 61.6 lb with inclusion basis unspecified. Multiple banks require stabilizing caster hardware.
