SP112 (407431)Illustrated overview
A useful fit for

A compatible personal Windows/DDST document routine using small stacks and a USB cable.

The main tradeoff

It has no original scanner or included network route. Output holds 10 sheets, and two-sided printing requires manual handling.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can the US SP112 provide USB monochrome Letter printing with 50 included sheets?

Yes, with the exact compatible DDST driver. Its paper input is 50 sheets and output is a separate 10-sheet limit.

Does the SP112 automatically print both sides?

No. The documented duplex routine is manual.

Can the SP112 scan originals to a computer?

No. This exact model is print-only; the separate SP112SU adds scanning and copying.

A low-profile USB printer for a small document routine

The Ricoh SP 112 is an earlier monochrome laser printer for a compatible computer connected by USB. It has a shallow, low body and a modest 50-sheet paper input, making its most defensible role a small personal document routine rather than a shared office printing hub.

The exact US model is part 407431. It is print-only. Ricoh explicitly points users who need scanning or copying to the separate SP 112SU; the family-style icons on the cover do not add those functions to the basic printer.

Make the driver check before the space-saving decision

The print controller is host-based DDST/GDI with 16MB of memory. The brochure lists historical Windows systems, so the first buying check is whether the exact printer has a working supported driver for the intended computer. A USB connector alone does not establish modern software compatibility.

USB is the documented computer connection. No included Ethernet, ordinary Wi-Fi or native mobile-printing arrangement is established here. A USB cable is separately listed as an option, so confirm the actual package instead of assuming every older offer includes the cable and installation materials.

Plan for small input and output stacks

The standard input holds 50 sheets, while the face-up output holds ten. Those are different limits: a loaded input tray does not mean the output can accumulate the entire job unattended. A routine with frequent short documents fits this arrangement better than one depending on large stacks.

Letter, Legal and A4 are explicitly listed paper sizes. The separate custom-size range has a shorter maximum than the named Legal size, so it should not be used to erase that named support. Conversely, the listed plain, recycled, thin and thick media types do not establish an envelope routine.

Two-sided printing requires manual handling

The duplex specification is manual. Follow the actual supported driver and reinsertion instructions when printing both sides; the printer does not qualify a requirement for automatic two-sided printing. A small body and laser engine are not evidence of an internal automatic duplex path.

The manufacturer declares 16ppm Letter monochrome output. The first-print figure is measured from job receipt in ready mode to ejection, while the stated recovery time is from sleep. Neither figure should be treated as a universal cold-start time or a complete manually handled duplex job time.

The body dimensions are a starting point for fit

The declared enclosure is 15.8 × 14.5 × 4.7 inches, with a listed weight of 14.8 pounds. Leave room for paper supports, cable routing, ventilation and cartridge access. A low closed height does not mean the device can operate in a shelf that blocks its paper path or maintenance access.

The US configuration uses 120V, 60Hz power. The manufacturer describes a fanless design, but that is not a measured promise of silence during paper feeding and printing. Choose the installation for the actual working routine and electrical label, not only an attractive low-profile photograph.

Check the starter and replacement cartridge separately

The original starter is declared at approximately 500 pages. The listed Type SP 100LA all-in-one replacement, part 407165, is declared at 1,200 prints under the cited ISO method. Neither number establishes remaining toner in an offered unit or today's cost per page.

No sustained recommended monthly range is established in this brochure. The useful decision is therefore concrete: choose the SP 112 for supported USB monochrome printing with small stacks and manual paper handling. Choose a different configuration if scanning, shared networking, automatic duplex or a larger unattended output stack is essential.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

Manufacturer-declared 16 ppm Letter monochrome; first print 13 seconds-or-less from ready-mode job receipt to ejection.18 second recovery is from Sleep Mode, not a general cold-start promise. No recommended monthly range or duty established.

Paper handling

50-sheet ordinary input and 10-sheet face-up output; manual duplex. Letter/Legal/A4 are expressly listed; custom-size maximum 11.7 in does not remove separately named Legal support. No envelope permission is established by this media list.

Scanning arrangement

Print-only monochrome model. The scanner/copier belongs to SP112SU; family cover icons do not add capture hardware.

Computer and mobile connections

Computer USB 2.0 is the documented interface. No included network or native mobile route is established; the cable is separately listed.

Supplies and declared yields

The original separates an approximately 500-page starter from the 1200-page Type SP100LA replacement under ISO/IEC 19752. Yield is not remaining toner or current cost.

Software and support

Host-based DDST/GDI with 16 MB memory. Verify the exact current Windows driver; Smart Organizing Monitor supplies status/settings rather than native mobile printing.

Electrical edition and setup

US SP112 407431 uses 120 V, 60 Hz. Body: 15.8 × 14.5 × 4.7 inches, 14.8 lb with consumable basis unspecified. Allow paper-support, cable and cartridge access.
