SP112SU (407429)Illustrated overview
A useful fit for

A compatible personal computer routine needing occasional color scans and black-and-white documents.

The main tradeoff

Legal printing does not mean Legal scanning. No fax, included network route or automatic printing duplex is provided.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can the SP112SU combine USB monochrome printing with full-color A4 computer scanning on glass?

Yes. The USB scanner supports TWAIN/WIA and 8.5 × 11.7 in originals; color scanning does not mean color printing.

Does Legal printing support mean a full Legal original fits the scanner?

No. The declared scanner maximum is 8.5 × 11.7 in, shorter than Legal.

Does the SP112SU provide fax as well as scan/copy?

No. The exact model is documented as three-in-one print, copy and scan.

The scanner is the reason to choose the SU

The Ricoh SP 112SU adds copying and computer scanning to an earlier low-profile monochrome laser family. It prints and copies in black and white, while its scanner can capture color. That distinction makes it relevant for a small document routine that occasionally needs to digitize a color original without buying a color printer.

The exact US configuration is part 407429. It is a three-in-one model, not a fax machine. The separate SP 112 is print-only, so the complete suffix matters more than the shared family appearance or cartridge name.

The scanner's size is different from the printer's paper size

The stated maximum original is 8.5 × 11.7 inches, suitable for Letter and A4. A full Legal original is longer. Legal printing support therefore should not make the questionnaire present this model as having a Legal-size glass.

The documented route is a supported flat original placed on the scanning surface. An automatic document feeder and automatic two-sided original scanning are not established here. Manual duplex copying and ID-card layouts do not prove the device automatically captures both sides of a stack.

USB computer scanning is explicitly specified

The scanner has a USB computer interface with TWAIN/WIA compatibility. That is a real documented computer-scanning route, subject to the installed compatible driver and application. It should not be confused with an unrelated USB flash-drive function.

The print interface is described as High-Speed USB2, while the scanner interface is described as Full-Speed USB2. Those are separate declarations in the specification. Neither should be expanded into Ethernet, ordinary Wi-Fi, AirPrint or another mobile arrangement that is not established for this exact model.

Small stacks are part of the operating routine

The input holds 50 sheets and the face-up output holds ten. Plan to clear the output when a job exceeds that smaller stack limit. A full input tray does not mean the entire contents can collect unattended at the exit.

Letter, Legal and A4 printing are explicitly listed. The ordinary media list covers supported plain, recycled, thin and thick paper, but does not establish an envelope routine. Two-sided printing is manual, so the model does not qualify when automatic duplex is essential.

Check software before judging the compact body

The controller is host-based DDST/GDI with 16MB of memory and a historical Windows compatibility list. Verify a working exact-model print and scanner driver for the intended computer before choosing an older offer. The connector's shape and a general family driver name do not settle that question.

The manufacturer declares 16ppm Letter monochrome printing and copying. First print and first copy have different timing declarations, and the recovery figure is from sleep. Those modes should not be merged into a single promise for every document or cold start.

Leave room above the glass and inspect the actual supplies

The body is declared at 15.8 × 14.5 × 6.4 inches and 18.7 pounds, making it taller and heavier than the print-only SP 112. Allow the lid to open and leave room for originals, paper supports, cables and cartridge access. Match the documented US 120V/60Hz electrical label.

The original starter is declared at approximately 500 pages, with a 1,200-print Type SP 100LA replacement. Those figures do not establish remaining toner or current cost. The SU fits a compatible USB routine needing occasional Letter/A4 color scanning and monochrome documents, provided fax, network sharing, an automatic feeder and automatic printing duplex are not essential.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

Declared Letter monochrome print/copy rate is 16 ppm. Ready-mode first print, first copy and sleep recovery are separate conditions. Monthly recommendation and duty are unestablished.

Paper handling

50 ordinary-sheet input/10 face-up output. Letter/Legal/A4 print sizes explicit, manual duplex. Legal printing does not enlarge the 8.5 × 11.7 in original scanner. No envelope permission established by the listed media types.

Scanning arrangement

The color flatbed reaches 8.5 × 11.7 inches for Letter/A4 originals. USB TWAIN/WIA capture is documented. No ADF, Legal glass or automatic duplex capture is established.

Computer and mobile connections

USB is the documented computer interface. High-Speed printing and Full-Speed scanning are distinct declarations; no included network or native mobile route is established.

Supplies and declared yields

The original separates an approximately 500-page starter from the 1200-page Type SP100LA replacement under ISO/IEC 19752. No remaining-toner or current-cost claim is made.

Software and support

Host-based DDST/GDI and 16 MB memory require exact compatible software. TWAIN/WIA scanning is separate from manual duplex-copy or ID-card layouts.

Electrical edition and setup

US SP112SU 407429 uses 120 V, 60 Hz. Body: 15.8 × 14.5 × 6.4 inches, 18.7 lb with consumable basis unspecified. Allow glass-lid, paper and cartridge access.
