SP C250SF (407523)Illustrated overview
A useful fit for

A compatible color-document routine needing Letter printing, loose Legal-original scanning and conventional fax in one device.

The main tradeoff

The glass is limited to Letter-size originals; automatic two-sided scanning and native AirPrint/Mopria are not established. The extra paper drawer is optional.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can the SP C250SF combine Wi-Fi computer scanning through its Legal ADF with automatic Letter color printing?

Yes. The scanner interfaces include wireless LAN, the ADF accepts Legal originals and Letter automatic printing duplex is documented.

Can the SP C250SF capture a full Legal original on its glass?

No. The specified glass maximum is 8.5 × 11 in; use the documented longer-original feeder route.

Does the 35-sheet ADF establish automatic two-sided original scanning?

No. Automatic duplex printing is documented, but automatic duplex scanning is not established.

Choose the SF when documents also need to come into the computer

The Ricoh SP C250SF adds a color scanner, copying, a 35-sheet automatic document feeder and fax to this earlier color-laser family. It is the relevant model when printing alone would leave an important part of the document routine unfinished. The separate SP C250DN is a dedicated printer.

The US SF configuration is part 407523. Its extra hardware changes the size, weight, controls and useful workflows. A review or offer using only the family name can conceal those differences, so confirm the complete suffix before choosing between the two.

Match the original to the glass or feeder

The specified platen maximum is 8.5 × 11 inches, suitable for a Letter original. The feeder accepts longer originals up to 8.5 × 14 inches. A Legal-size document therefore belongs in the feeder routine, rather than being described as fully covered by the shorter glass.

The 35-sheet ADF is useful for a supported stack of loose originals. It does not establish automatic two-sided scanning or single-pass capture. Automatic duplex printing is a different function. If both sides of each original must be captured automatically, this brochure does not qualify the SF for that requirement.

USB scanning is documented, as well as network scanning

The scanner specification explicitly lists USB, Ethernet and wireless LAN interfaces, with TWAIN and WIA support. That establishes a compatible computer-scanning route across those interfaces, rather than assuming every USB multifunction printer behaves the same way. Scan-to-folder and FTP are also named network destinations.

Wired and wireless network connections cannot be active simultaneously. Select one actual network arrangement and set up the matching driver, destination and permissions. A printer connected by USB should not be assumed to inherit network mobile-printing protocols from another configuration.

Keep the paper and duplex promises specific

The ordinary cassette holds 250 sheets, with a separate single-sheet bypass. The optional 500-sheet drawer supports Letter and A4. The expanded 751-sheet headline includes both that option and an individually fed sheet; it is not an included 751-sheet ordinary stack or a promise of extra Legal capacity.

The manufacturer declares 21ppm Letter for one-sided color or monochrome printing and 12ppm Letter for automatic duplex. The confirmed Letter duplex path uses appropriate 60–90gsm paper. The wider one-sided weight range and general Legal/A4 input support do not independently establish every size-specific duplex combination.

Distinguish applications, native protocols and fax

The documented Ricoh mobile-app routine calls for PCL6 mode to be set to Universal. That is a real setup condition, but the app's name is not confirmation of native AirPrint, Mopria or Wi-Fi Direct. Those protocols remain unconfirmed for this assessment rather than being borrowed from a later Ricoh model.

Fax uses the listed G3, 33.6Kbps PSTN/PBX arrangement and requires a compatible telephone setup. It is separate from sending a scanned file over the network. General security descriptions also do not establish a particular private-print PIN collection routine; that feature is not positively matched here.

Plan for a substantial multifunction body

The SF is declared at 16.5 × 19.4 × 18.1 inches and 64 pounds with consumables. Allow additional working space for the document-feeder lid, loose originals, paper loading and maintenance. The optional drawer adds five inches of height and 13.2 pounds; the shorter DN dimensions should not be used to fit this model into a shelf.

The original starter cartridges are declared at 1,000 pages, with 2,300-page SP C250A replacements for each CMYK color. Check the actual offered unit's supplies, 120V/60Hz electrical label and current computer compatibility. The strongest fit is a supported color-document workflow needing both computer scanning and Letter duplex, without a requirement for automatic two-sided original capture.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

Manufacturer-declared 21 ppm Letter in monochrome or color and 12 ppm Letter automatic duplex. Neither an A4 rate nor a sustained monthly recommendation is established in this brochure.

Paper handling

250-sheet ordinary cassette plus a single-sheet bypass; bulk-input matching uses 250. Optional 500 drawer supports Letter/A4 and explains the 751-path total, not included capacity or expanded Legal capacity. Automatic Letter duplex is explicit at 12 ppm; Legal/A4 duplex permissions are not separately established. Duplex paper60–90 gsm versus one-sided60–160 gsm.

Scanning arrangement

SP C250SF has a 35-sheet ADF and color flatbed scanner. Platen maximum 8.5 × 11 in supports Letter; ADF maximum 8.5 × 14 in supports Letter/Legal and fitting A4 originals. Automatic two-sided scanning is not established. USB 2/Ethernet/Wi-Fi scanner interfaces and TWAIN/WIA are expressly specified, with scan-to-folder/FTP routes.

Computer and mobile connections

USB 2.0, 10/100 Ethernet and 802.11b/g/n wireless networking included, with wired/wireless network modes mutually exclusive. Computer scanning is specified for all three interfaces with compatible setup. Native AirPrint/Mopria and Wi-Fi Direct are not established; Ricoh app requires PCL6 Universal mode.

Supplies and declared yields

1000-page starter cartridges; standard SP C250 A replacement cartridges declare2300 pages for each CMYK color under ISO/IEC 19798. Yield is not remaining supply or current page cost. The waste bottle declaration is 25000 prints.

Software and support

The exact SF has 256 MB/400 MHz and PCL5c/PCL6/PostScript 3 emulation, compared with DN at 128 MB/350 MHz. TWAIN/WIA are specified scanner interfaces. The 33.6 Kbps G3 PSTN/PBX fax is distinct from scanning and requires compatible telephone setup; no private print PIN routine is established.

Electrical edition and setup

Exact US SF407523 is 16.5 × 19.4 × 18.1 in and 64 lb with consumables, using120 V, 60 Hz. The shorter/lighter DN body is not this multifunction frame. Optional 500-sheet drawer adds 5 in/13.2 lb; allow ADF lid, original handling, paper and cable access.
