SP C440DN (407773,US)Illustrated overview
A useful fit for

A compatible shared office needing color output over a wired network and substantial base input.

The main tradeoff

Wireless and 320 GB storage are optional; a precise private PIN collection routine remains unestablished.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can the standard C440DN combine Ethernet color Legal output and 650 included sheets?

Yes. Gigabit Ethernet and the ordinary input configuration are standard.

A print-only color machine with standard Gigabit Ethernet

The Ricoh SP C440DN is a color laser printer for a compatible office output routine. Its 650-sheet standard input, automatic two-sided printing and included Gigabit Ethernet can suit shared document work without assuming a wireless upgrade. It does not provide the scanning, copying or fax hardware of a multifunction machine.

This assessment concerns US part 407773. A generic family legend or a similar-looking Ricoh model is not a substitute for its exact configuration. In particular, storage and additional network interfaces remain optional even though they appear throughout the brochure's workflow examples.

Count 650 included sheets before considering 2300-sheet expansion

The standard 550-sheet cassette and 100-sheet bypass give 650 input sheets. Three optional 550-sheet units explain the 2300-sheet maximum. Confirm the number of banks actually fitted to an older offer; an expanded picture does not establish included hardware.

Letter, Legal and A4 fit the ordinary paper range. The bypass supports long custom sheets, but additional length does not create wider A3 capability. Envelopes and heavier media also have their own handling conditions rather than sharing every ordinary-paper setting.

Automatic duplex is useful within its own media limits

Automatic two-sided output is standard, with a stated 60–163gsm duplex range. The bypass's heavier one-sided range is different. A brochure that supports thick stock or coated paper does not establish automatic duplex for every one of those materials.

The assessment confirms the general automatic-duplex feature without inventing a separately documented list of duplex sizes from the ordinary tray range. The 500-sheet output tray is another practical limit: expanded input still needs a plan for collecting finished pages during longer work.

Included networking does not mean every connection is standard

Gigabit Ethernet and USB computer printing are included. Ordinary Wi-Fi, a parallel interface and a secondary network connection are options. A USB Device Server can support a different network role, but it is not evidence of an included wireless radio.

The source describes two-network uses such as separating guest access from other work. That requires the actual supported interface and administrator configuration. Likewise, native AirPrint, Mopria and Wi-Fi Direct are not independently established here, so a general mobile-printing statement should not fill those precise requirements.

Permanent storage and private collection need separate checks

The 320GB hard disk is optional. The documented 950-file and 9000-page storage ceilings explicitly depend on it; standard 1GB RAM is a different component. Check the installed disk before expecting forms or stored documents to remain available on the machine.

Locked Print and authenticated release are named, but this source does not settle a precise PIN-entry procedure and its complete prerequisites. The assessment therefore does not treat private-PIN collection as confirmed. Network encryption, access restrictions and document collection address different privacy questions and should be evaluated individually.

Use workload figures and service declarations in context

The manufacturer declares 42ppm Letter color or monochrome output. The detailed first-page table separates black and color timing. The 20000-print maximum monthly volume and 150000-print duty cycle are separate ceilings rather than an explicit recommended sustained range, and none predicts a complete mixed-document job.

The 120V/60Hz mainframe measures 17.48 ×25.91 ×19.29 inches and is listed at 126 pounds. Allow deep-body, paper and maintenance clearance, especially with added drawers or cabinets. Toner, photoconductors, transfer unit, waste bottle and fuser are separate service items. Choose the C440DN for confirmed wired color output and standard paper handling, then check optional storage, exact software and the condition of the individual machine before relying on broader workflow claims.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

Exact Letter color/black output is 42 ppm. Maximum monthly volume and duty are separate from a recommended interval; detailed first-color/black timings govern broad marketing wording.

Paper handling

Included input is 550 cassette plus 100 bypass sheets. Automatic duplex is standard at 60–163 gsm, but exact duplex sizes remain unassigned. Optional banks are additional hardware.

Scanning arrangement

This is a dedicated printer. It has no document scanner, automatic document feeder, copying or fax function.

Computer and mobile connections

Gigabit Ethernet and computer/host USB are standard. Wireless, parallel and secondary-network options are separate; a device server does not supply a wireless radio.

Supplies and declared yields

Starter and replacement toner, PCUs, transfer, waste and fuser declarations are separate. Coverage and job-length assumptions do not establish remaining service life or current cost.

Software and support

The optional 320 GB disk supports specified stored-file capacity. Named Locked Print/authentication features do not settle a precise base PIN procedure, so that capability remains unknown.

Electrical edition and setup

US C440DN 407773 uses 120 V, 60 Hz, 12 A. Body: 17.48 × 25.91 × 19.29 inches, 126 lb with inclusion basis unspecified. Optional banks/casters/cabinets change the installation.
