CLP-300NIllustrated overview
A useful fit for

A compatible wired computer setup needing occasional color documents and a documented single-envelope routine.

The main tradeoff

Automatic duplex, scanning and copying are absent. Ethernet does not establish Wi-Fi or a native phone-printing protocol.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can the exact N version print color Letter documents over Ethernet with 150 included ordinary sheets?

Yes after configuring the printer’s network address and installing the compatible model driver. The N version includes Ethernet, and the original paper table gives 150 ordinary sheets on a 75 gsm basis. Its declared color Letter rate is 4 pages per minute, distinct from the 17-page black rate.

Can a USB computer print ordinary Legal pages and suitable envelopes through the standard configuration?

Yes with the compatible driver and permitted stock. Legal belongs to the documented ordinary-paper sizes; envelopes use the separate single-sheet manual-feed routine with the correct guides, orientation, software type and Stop-button response. The single sheet is not added to the normal 150-sheet input.

Does the driver’s two-sided choice satisfy essential automatic Letter duplex over Ethernet?

No. The exact sheet calls two-sided printing manual, and the original guide requires the operator to complete the job after alternate pages print. A network port and a binding choice do not provide automatic sheet reversal.

CLP-300N adds a real wired network interface

The Samsung CLP-300N is an earlier print-only color laser printer with USB and built-in Ethernet. It suits a compatible computer setup that needs occasional color documents, a 150-sheet ordinary-paper tray and a documented envelope routine. The deciding limit is two-sided output: the operator must handle the paper for its second side.

The N suffix matters because the neighboring CLP-300 lacks the network interface. It does not mean this printer includes Wi-Fi. HP's model transition table marks CLP-300N discontinued, so an actual unit needs its software, power label and supply condition checked before daily use.

Configure the printer address and the computer software

A USB connection uses the original local-driver installation path. For Ethernet, configure and verify the printer's TCP/IP address, install compatible model software and select the actual network printer. The original installer also describes adding a TCP/IP port when the device does not appear in the discovery list.

This differs from attaching a USB printer to a host computer and sharing it through that computer. CLP-300N has its own network interface. Neither arrangement proves a native mobile protocol, and AirPrint, Mopria and Wi-Fi Direct are not established here.

The documented hardware is for printed output. There is no scanner, copier, fax or document feeder. A need to digitize a paper original therefore calls for a multifunction model with the required capture path confirmed.

Manual feed is a way of using the tray

The standard tray holds up to 150 sheets of ordinary 75 gsm paper. The original plain-paper table includes Letter, Legal and A4 with that capacity basis. Paper weight, thickness and conditions affect how much can actually be loaded.

Manual feed uses the same tray for one suitable sheet at a time. It is not another tray that raises included capacity to 151 sheets. Adjust the guides and software size, type and source to match the actual material, and load the next sheet only after the previous one prints.

The envelope instructions are specific: load an undamaged suitable envelope flap down, with the stamp-area end entering first. Slide the guides gently against it, choose Manual Feed and Envelope in the compatible software, then use the Stop button to start feeding.

That routine supports a small attended envelope job. It should not be described as a stack feeder or an automatic two-sided envelope path. Avoid incompatible constructions such as windows, clasps and self-stick adhesives, and follow the original stock limits.

Two-sided printing remains an attended task

The specification calls duplex manual. In the original software procedure, the user selects paper orientation and long- or short-edge binding. The machine prints alternate pages, then a Printing Tip window guides completion of the second side.

Suitable Letter, Legal and A4 ordinary paper can use that routine under its documented weight limits. Labels, envelopes, transparencies and thick media must not be run through it. A driver checkbox cannot make the printer finish a two-sided batch without someone handling the sheets.

Account for color supplies and their separate life figures

The declared one-sided Letter rates are 17 pages per minute in black and four in color; the black A4 figure is 16. These are manufacturer declarations rather than a reproduced test. The monthly duty ceiling is also different from a recommendation for sustained monthly volume.

The original guide separates 1,500-page black and 700-page color starters from replacements rated at 2,000 black and 1,000 per color on its stated 5% coverage basis. There is also a separate imaging unit and waste container. Those declarations do not establish remaining life, current supply availability or running cost.

For placement, use the actual body dimensions and consumables weight, not the larger shipping package. Leave access for the tray, covers and connections. CLP-300N's wired color role is clear, but unattended duplex or document capture requires different documented hardware.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

The original guide declares up to 17 one-sided Letter pages/min in black, versus 16 A4, and 4 color pages/min in either size. The US sheet’s 17/4 headline is consistent with those separate rates. They are manufacturer declarations, not measured performance or manual-duplex completion speed. The US sheet’s 24,200-page monthly duty ceiling is not a recommended recurring monthly workload; the guide uses images for the duty declaration.

Paper handling

The included semi-cassette tray holds up to 150 sheets of 75 gsm ordinary stock. The original plain-paper table includes Letter, Legal and A4 with that capacity basis, subject to media and environmental limits. Manual feed is a single-sheet mode using the same tray; it is not a second included input to add to 150. Suitable envelopes are loaded one at a time, flap down with the stamp-area end entering first. Adjust both guides without bending, choose Manual Feed, Envelope type and the actual size in the compatible software, then press Stop to feed. Follow the original permitted envelope sizes and 75–90 gsm stock limits. Two-sided printing is manual: ordinary supported paper is rehandled under the compatible driver’s instructions; envelopes and other special media must not use that duplex routine.

Scanning arrangement

The manufacturer identifies the CLP-300N as a color laser printer for printed output. It has no document scanner, original glass or feeder, copier or fax hardware. Genuine color printing is separate from document capture. Generic Samsung utilities and the neighboring CLX multifunction products do not add those functions.

Computer and mobile connections

The exact CLP-300N has standard USB 2.0 and a built-in 10/100Base-TX Ethernet interface. The nearby CLP-300 has USB without that network interface. For Ethernet, configure and verify the actual printer TCP/IP address, install the compatible model software and select the correct network printer; the original installer also describes adding a TCP/IP port when discovery fails. A direct USB computer uses the local installation routine. Neither the N suffix nor local printer sharing establishes built-in Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct or a native mobile protocol.

Supplies and declared yields

The original guide distinguishes black CLP-K300A replacement yield of about 2,000 A4/Letter pages from the 1,500-page starter, and about 1,000 per cyan/magenta/yellow replacement from 700-page starters, at its stated 5% coverage basis. These older declarations must not be relabeled as an ISO/IEC 19798 test. CLP-C300A/M300A/Y300A, the separate CLP-R300A imaging kit and CLP-W300A waste container have different roles and life conditions. Check the actual regional supply markings and installed state. Original yields are not present stock, remaining toner or cost per page.

Software and support

The actual original software section describes guided manual double-sided printing with long- or short-edge binding, eligible Letter, Legal and A4 stock at 75–90 gsm, and a Printing Tip window after alternate pages print. The operator must complete the second side. A CONFIDENTIAL watermark is printed text rather than a held job, and secure PIN release remains unconfirmed. AirPrint and Mopria are also unconfirmed. Dated Windows, Macintosh and Linux instructions are useful historical setup references, without a promise that a modern operating system still has a compatible driver.

Electrical edition and setup

The original specification gives a printer body 390 x 344 x 265 mm, or 15.4 inches wide by 13.5 deep by 10.4 high, and 13.6 kg/30 lb including consumables. Packaging material weights and boxed dimensions are separate. Allow additional tray, cover, cable and ventilation access. The US-authored exact sheet and original guide establish a 110–127 VAC, 50/60 Hz edition distinct from the 220–240 VAC version; check the actual rating label. The inherited 2008 XAA list is Canadian, so it is not the sole electrical basis. HP’s exact model table marks CLP-300N discontinued, making this an earlier reference rather than a current-stock claim.
