Samsung CLP-620ND: wired color documents with two paper sources review

A color printer for a wired document workflow

The Samsung CLP-620ND is an earlier print-only color laser model with USB and Ethernet. Its original US brochure positions it alongside the faster CLP-670ND, but their printer languages and upgrade options differ. Check the exact model rather than treating the pair as interchangeable.

For a compatible office producing charts, forms and ordinary color reports, the included wired interface can make the printer available without an external print server. Set the actual network address and confirm a supported driver on the computers that will send the documents.

Two supplied sources can separate ordinary and special stock

The standard paper arrangement combines a 250-sheet cassette with a 100-sheet multipurpose input. That gives 350 ordinary sheets, while another 500-sheet cassette is optional. A fully expanded illustration does not establish an 850-sheet package in an offered unit.

Keeping regular stock in the main cassette and another material in the front input can reduce paper changes. The software must still select the correct source, size and type. In a shared office, agree which material belongs in each location so a report does not unexpectedly use letterhead.

The documented size range accommodates ordinary Letter, Legal and A4. The range does not make all materials or settings interchangeable. For envelopes, labels and transparency films, use the exact instructions and suitable stock, then try a small quantity before purchasing a batch.

Automatic duplex is included, with its own operating limits

The CLP-620ND has an automatic duplexer. It can turn supported output sheets inside the printer rather than requiring the attended refeed routine of a manual-duplex model. That can be a useful convenience for reports.

Confirm the exact paper size, weight and binding settings against the operating guide before relying on a particular two-sided job. A broad supported-media range is different from a complete duplex-media table. The finder keeps an unverified size-specific duplex requirement separate from ordinary single-sided paper support.

Try a complete short report first, checking orientation, page order and margins. A correct first page alone does not show whether the remaining sides read as intended. Do not extend an ordinary-paper duplex routine to special materials without explicit instructions.

Printer language distinguishes it from the CLP-670ND

The original CLP-620ND specification lists PCL5, PCL6 and SPL-C. The CLP-670ND has a different PostScript package. If your actual application requires that language, verify the exact printer and installed support before making the decision.

Memory expansion is another optional purchase. Maximum memory is not supplied memory, and administrative network tools are not evidence of a PIN-held job in the base machine. Choose on the workflow you can document rather than the broadest family feature list.

Evaluate color supplies as a complete set

This printer uses separate black, cyan, magenta and yellow cartridges, and the transfer belt is another consumable. A low initial offer needs to be considered alongside the actual condition and availability of all required supplies.

The original standard and high-yield ratings are declared under stated test conditions. They do not reveal remaining toner in an earlier unit or provide a current price per page. Compare the supplies you can actually obtain for the exact regional configuration.

Keep workload claims in context

The US brochure declares up to 21 Letter pages per minute in mono or color. Its monthly duty ceiling differs from the average monthly figure in an older sheet; neither is our independent speed or reliability test.

Check electrical labeling, feeding and representative color output before choosing an offered machine. The CLP-620ND cannot scan or copy originals. It fits compatible wired color-document work when the supplied sources are sufficient; scanning, included wireless or a particular language requirement may point to another configuration.
