CLP-680NDIllustrated overview
A useful fit for

An office that already handles scanning elsewhere and wants shared ordinary color printing.

The main tradeoff

Built-in wireless, a scanner and the maximum optional paper stack must not be assumed.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can it print ordinary Letter color reports over Ethernet with 300 sheets?

Yes, in the documented compatible wired printing arrangement.

Can it connect directly through built-in WiFi?

That is not the supplied CLP-680ND connection; the brochure’s FW radio belongs to another model.

Does it provide a scanning feeder?

No. This CLP model is print-only.

A wired printer for an office that scans elsewhere

The Samsung CLP-680ND is an earlier color laser printer rather than a multifunction machine. Its original brochure also includes the CLX-6260FD and CLX-6260FW. Those taller machines add original-handling equipment that the CLP-680ND does not have.

If scanning already happens on another device, a print-only cabinet may fit the work better. If colleagues expect to copy incoming forms or capture signed paperwork at the printer, this exact model will not provide that workflow.

Keep the wired network and mobile arrangement distinct

The supplied connections include computer USB, Gigabit Ethernet and a front USB memory-device port. Built-in wireless and WiFi Direct in the shared specification belong to the CLX-6260FW, not the CLP-680ND.

A compatible mobile device can have a route through a properly configured network and wireless access point. That is different from the printer itself joining a router wirelessly or offering a direct radio connection. Decide where the machine and network cable will go before selecting it.

Also check whether the actual client software is available for your equipment. A historical application name in a brochure is a starting point for that check, not proof that every present operating system has the same supported path.

Two paper sources can reduce repeated stock changes

The standard setup combines a 250-sheet cassette and a 50-sheet bypass. That gives two ways to present paper without pretending the bypass behaves like a second large cassette. Match the guides and size/type settings whenever you change material.

An optional 520-sheet cassette brings the stated total to 820 sheets. A used offer should show the actual accessory, and it should feed correctly. The maximum expandable capacity is not the standard supply shipped with the base printer.

Think about which stock needs to stay ready. Keeping ordinary paper in the cassette and a suitable alternate material in the bypass may matter more than maximizing one large stack. Check the specific loading instructions for envelopes, labels or heavier stock.

Read the color rate and duplex requirement together

The original US figure is up to 25 Letter pages per minute for both monochrome and color. It is a declared engine figure rather than our measured result. Short jobs, wake-up time, image-heavy documents and connection choices can change completion time.

Automatic two-sided printing is included. Select the appropriate binding and verify a short document before leaving a report running. Automatic hardware is useful, but the ordinary media range does not independently confirm that every size and specialty stock can duplex.

For repeated mixed reports, make a representative file your practical check. Include the text, charts and layout you actually use. A resolution headline and a generic demonstration page do not describe how your own documents will look.

Memory and supplies need configuration checks

The printer has a standard memory configuration with an optional larger replacement. A listing should describe what is installed rather than quoting the maximum as though it were included. The same principle applies to optional paper handling and any special job-storage arrangement.

Black and the three colors have different declared cartridge yields, and high-yield replacements differ from the standard versions. The waste bottle is a separate item. Page-yield declarations cannot reveal remaining toner, present replacement cost or the condition of the offered unit.

Where the CLP-680ND fits

Check the exact model label, electrical rating, connections, feeding and representative color output. Allow room to open trays, reach supplies and clear the path around the cabinet; closed dimensions alone do not describe a usable installation.

The CLP-680ND is a sensible comparison for compatible shared color printing over a wired connection. Choose a different configuration when a built-in radio, scanning feeder or a confirmed specialist media routine is central to the requirement, rather than borrowing those capabilities from the adjacent multifunction model.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

Declared up to 25 Letter ppm mono and color. 60,000-page duty ceiling is not a recommended monthly workload or reliability measurement.

Paper handling

250-sheet standard cassette plus 50-sheet bypass; 520-sheet optional cassette adds capacity to 820. Ordinary Letter, Legal and A4 within specified range. Automatic duplex documented; exact size-specific duplex routine not independently read for this print-only model.

Scanning arrangement

Print-only equipment, without a scanner, copying glass, document feeder or fax.

Computer and mobile connections

USB, Gigabit Ethernet and front USB host supplied. Network mobile app requires a suitable wireless access point and client; printer itself is not given built-in WiFi/Direct from CLX-6260FW.

Supplies and declared yields

Black 2,000 / each color 1,500 standard yield versus black 6,000 / each color 3,500 high yield, ISO/IEC 19798. Separate CLT-W504 waste bottle; installed remaining supply and current cost require checking.

Software and support

PCL5C/6, PostScript 3, PDF and SPL-C listed; 256 MB standard, 512 MB maximum with optional replacement. PIN marketing not promoted to a guaranteed base operating routine.

Electrical edition and setup

Earlier US print-only model. Verify exact model, electrical plate and compatible current software; leave front and supply access.
