CLX-3305FWIllustrated overview
A useful fit for

A compatible small-office arrangement needing occasional color output, one-sided feeder capture, computer scanning and separately connected analog fax.

The main tradeoff

Color output is much slower than black, both-sided originals require manual handling, and two-sided printing requires guided refeeding.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can the compatible USB arrangement print Legal pages and capture one-sided Legal originals in color?

Yes. Suitable Legal stock fits the ordinary cassette and Legal originals fit the 40-sheet simplex feeder within capture margins. Installed MFP software supports USB computer scanning. The 150-sheet paper figure uses the stated 75 gsm basis; ordinary analog fax additionally needs compatible telephone service.

Can a Wi-Fi computer workflow use both the documented glass and feeder routes when no exact original size is selected?

Yes, with compatible scanner software, enabled scan activation and a registered computer destination. Both physical routes are documented. The feeder has explicit size limits; the selected readings do not establish the glass’s precise size list, so an unspecified size does not promise full-size glass coverage.

Does guided manual two-sided printing satisfy an automatic duplex requirement?

No. The original US datasheet calls duplex manual with guidance, and the service table gives the automatic engine duplex function as unavailable. User refeeding remains necessary.

A compact color MFP with a clear speed tradeoff

The Samsung CLX-3305FW combines color laser printing, copying, color scanning and analog fax in an earlier compact configuration. USB, Ethernet and built-in Wi-Fi provide several ways to connect compatible computers, while Wi-Fi Direct and direct USB-memory functions serve separate workflows.

Its black and color output rates differ substantially. The original USA datasheet declares up to 19 one-sided Letter pages per minute in black and four in color. A mostly black document routine with occasional color pages is a different workload from repeatedly printing color packets. Do not apply the black headline to both.

Expect manual handling for both-sided documents

The model's printing duplex is described as manual with guidance. Compatible Windows software can guide the user through printing one side and refeeding the paper, but the printer does not provide an automatic duplex engine. Check the actual driver, page order and stock before attempting a longer two-sided run.

The 40-sheet automatic document feeder also handles one side at a time. The service table explicitly says that two-sided document scanning is unavailable. A batch of double-sided originals therefore needs deliberate manual handling and checking, rather than an automatic reversing or single-pass routine.

Suitable Legal originals fit the feeder's stated range, alongside Letter and A4 within capture margins. Prepare a uniform stack, remove fasteners and load it face up. The glass is a separately documented route for originals that should not travel through the feeder; check its actual capture area rather than transferring the feeder's Legal limit to it.

Install scanning as well as printing

The original guide documents computer scanning over USB or a network. Install compatible MFP software, confirm that scanning is enabled, and choose the intended machine in the scan application. An ordinary print-only installation may leave that workflow incomplete.

Network Scan to PC uses a registered computer ID and its configured password when requested. The guide distinguishes network-capable TWAIN scanning from WIA's direct USB routine. These are software and connection conditions, separate from whether the original sits on glass or in the feeder.

AirPrint is explicitly covered for the FW series, using a compatible local network with the required discovery and printing protocols enabled. That mobile print arrangement does not automatically supply desktop scan destinations or the driver's guided manual duplex controls. Check current host support instead of assuming that every historical mobile app or cloud service still operates.

Count input sheets at the stated paper basis

The standard cassette headline is 150 sheets, supported by the user guide's ordinary 75 gsm paper table. The service table separately gives 130 sheets at 80 gsm. Paper thickness changes the practical refill interval, so use the basis that matches the office's stock.

The 50-sheet output area is not an extra input tray. Keep output from overfilling and adjust the cassette guides for the actual paper size. Match driver and device size and type, and follow the separate restrictions for heavier or special media. Do not turn a broad custom-size range into an unsupported envelope promise.

Check consumables and the particular machine

The original USA box description declares 700 black pages and 500 per color from initial toner. Replacement 406S toner has different declared yields, while the imaging unit and waste container are separate items with their own life bases. A nominal cartridge yield does not establish remaining life in a particular machine.

The approximately 30.8-pound body also needs room for the paper path, raised scanner and maintenance access. Verify its electrical label and compatible telephone connection if fax is needed. The 20,000-image maximum monthly duty ceiling is not a recommended monthly workload; use the actual document mix, refill needs and manual handling requirements when deciding whether this configuration fits.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

The manufacturer declares up to 19 one-sided black Letter pages/min, compared with 18 A4. Color output is separately declared at 4 pages/min in either size. The black headline must not represent a color job. Maximum duty is 20,000 images per month. A service summary’s average 46 color and 140 mono pages is not labeled a recommended operating range, so neither recommendation endpoint is inferred. These are manufacturer declarations, not measured results.

Paper handling

The reviewed cassette holds up to 150 sheets of ordinary 75 gsm paper, with the guide’s shared table covering Letter, Legal and A4. The service table separately rates 130 sheets at 80 gsm; do not expect the headline count with every stock. The 50-sheet figure is output, not extra input, and no multipurpose or expansion cassette is included. The original model has guided manual two-sided printing in compatible Windows software, requiring user refeeding. It has no automatic duplex engine. The read media tables do not establish a suitable-envelope routine, so envelope support is left unverified.

Scanning arrangement

The exact FW includes a color CIS glass scanner and 40-sheet simplex automatic document feeder rated at 80 gsm. Its stated original range reaches 216 x 356 mm, covering suitable Letter, Legal and A4 originals within effective scan margins. The service table explicitly says no two-sided document scanning. No automatic duplex route is assigned. The glass route is positively documented, but its precise supported original sizes are not established by the selected source passages and are not borrowed from the feeder. Load prepared feeder originals face up or glass originals face down at the top-left guide; clear the feeder before glass use.

Computer and mobile connections

The exact FW has USB device, 10/100 Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct and direct USB-memory functions. Compatible computer MFP software supports USB or network scanning. Network Scan to PC requires installed scan software, enabled scan activation and the registered computer ID with its configured password if requested. TWAIN supports local or network connection; WIA uses direct USB. AirPrint is explicitly documented for the FW series with compatible local-network, Bonjour/mDNS and IPP settings. Its print-only arrangement does not inherit computer scanning or manual desktop duplex settings. No current availability of historical Samsung mobile apps or cloud services is promised.

Supplies and declared yields

The exact US datasheet declares initial toner at 700 black pages and 500 per color. Replacement CLT-K406S black is declared at 1,500 pages; CLT-C406S, CLT-M406S and CLT-Y406S at 1,000 each under ISO/IEC 19798. The separate CLT-R406 imaging unit and CLT-W406 waste container have different image-count bases. A US government list and an earlier service summary contain different initial-supply figures; the exact US technical datasheet governs this box description. Check actual remaining life and regional markings.

Electrical edition and setup

The FW body is approximately 16 x 14.3 x 13.1 inches, about 30.8 lb including consumables in the later guide and exact US datasheet. The carton’s 36.5 lb is separate. Earlier service-body weight differs, so it is not substituted for that later concordant figure. Allow additional space for the paper tray, raised scanner, original handling and maintenance. The guide distinguishes 110–127 VAC and 220–240 VAC editions but directs frequency confirmation to the actual rating label; complete US mains compatibility remains unverified here. Analog fax needs a separate compatible LINE connection, with any required telephone-service filter or adapter arrangement checked independently.
