ML-1430/XAAIllustrated overview
A useful fit for

Supported desktop documents where a small main supply and hands-on special-media handling are suitable.

The main tradeoff

Print-only hardware; no included networking or established automatic duplex routine.

Your needs, this model

Keep the exact printer and its software together

The Samsung ML-1430 is an earlier monochrome printer for supported desktop paperwork. Its SPL printing language depends on a compatible host driver, so software availability is a practical purchase question. Confirm your computer and application before comparing the price of an offered machine.

The original guide documents USB and bidirectional parallel. Those connections suit different generations of computers, but an adapter does not replace driver support. For a current desk, establish that an actual test document prints with the controls you need, rather than relying on the historical operating-system list.

A 150-sheet input suits short ordinary-document queues

The automatic input holds up to 150 ordinary sheets, including Letter, Legal and A4. This can suit occasional letters, forms and longer reference documents. It does not satisfy a requirement for a supplied 250-sheet main stack.

Adjust the guides and the software size to the actual stock. The capacity figure depends on paper weight and condition. Curling, moisture and overloading can make a compatible size behave poorly, so try representative paper before stocking a large quantity.

The individual-sheet manual path serves a different purpose. It lets you inspect a special sheet as it emerges, but it is not another unattended supply to add to the main capacity. The guide also tells users to remove manual-path stock before using automatic input.

The Demo button participates in manual feeding

For the instructed manual-source routine, select the source, size and media type in compatible software, load the sheet and press Demo to start feeding. Repeat for later sheets in the job. That is a deliberate attended process rather than a batch feeder for arbitrary materials.

The output lever matters too. Normal documents collect face-down with the lever in its ordinary position. The face-up slot offers another route for instructed special materials, but pages may not stack as conveniently there. Restore the normal setting when the special job is finished.

Plan access to that control and leave room for emerging pages. A tight shelf can fit the closed machine yet make the actual paper routine uncomfortable. Cable access, cartridge replacement and paper loading all need more room than the closed-body outline.

Occasional envelopes require the correct route

The original instructions describe a small automatic-input envelope batch or individual manual feeding, with specific flap and stamp-area orientation. They direct the user to the face-up output position and matching application settings. Use the exact loading illustrations when preparing the job.

Choose envelopes made for laser printing and avoid unsuitable windows, closures or exposed adhesives. Test a small sample first. A listed envelope capability is useful, but it should not be interpreted as permission to use every mailing material or ordinary-paper setting.

For letterhead, confirm that its ink and paper tolerate the fusing process before sending important correspondence. Run a complete sample form to check margins, page order and the chosen source. That trial is especially useful when an application remembers settings from a previous special-media job.

Separate headline speed from the work it can actually do

The fuller Rev. 1.01 guide specifies 15 Letter pages per minute, separately from 14 A4 pages per minute. Its 12,000-page monthly duty ceiling is not a recommended recurring workload or a measured endurance result. Document processing and condition still affect real jobs.

The ML-1430 has no scanning glass, original feeder, copying or fax. Automatic duplex and PIN-release printing are not established by the checked material, so this assessment does not promise those routines. Inspect the actual electrical label, cartridge and feed condition. Choose it for compatible direct monochrome work when its modest supply and attended special-media handling fit your desk.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

Rev.1.01 introduction and appendix both specify 15 Letter / 14 A4 ppm; earlier 14 ppm fragment lacks a paper-size label. Duty maximum 12,000 pages, not a recurring volume recommendation.

Paper handling

150 ordinary sheets in automatic input; separate manual path takes one sheet, with Demo button feeding in the manual-source routine. Letter, Legal and A4 supported. Envelope limit five automatic or one manual at stated stock; face-up output and precise orientation required. Automatic duplex unestablished.

Scanning arrangement

Print-only equipment, without a scanner, copying glass, document feeder or fax.

Computer and mobile connections

Computer USB 1.1, 12 Mbps, and bidirectional parallel are documented. No included Ethernet or wireless configuration established.

Supplies and declared yields

Replacement 2,500 pages and original starter 1,000 at stated coverage; no remaining-toner, live-price or ownership-cost claim.

Software and support

SPL with 8 MB nonexpandable memory; compatible host driver required. Old OS lists and USB adapters do not prove present support. No PIN-release routine established.

Electrical edition and setup

Original US/Canada regional power specification supports US model reference, but offered plate remains unchecked. Body dimensions differ between original fragments and weight 6.5 kg / 13.4 lb is internally inconsistent; body/weight filters left unknown.
