A useful fit for

Compatible shared office forms and reports that benefit from a separate special-stock input.

The main tradeoff

The N configuration includes its own wired interface

The Samsung ML-2251N is the wired-network configuration in this earlier monochrome family. Ethernet is included, alongside USB and parallel. That makes it a different starting point from the ML-2250 base model, which needs an optional network card for the same printer-side connection.

For a compatible shared office, an independent wired interface can avoid relying on a directly attached desktop to pass jobs along. You still need correct network addressing, a reachable queue and software suited to the actual printer language. An Ethernet cable does not independently solve driver compatibility.

Separate the N, NP and W packages

The full suffix matters. The ML-2251N does not automatically inherit the installed PostScript packaging of the ML-2251NP or the included radio of the ML-2252W. Its own PostScript and wireless options need an actual equipment check.

That distinction is useful when an offer combines several family names in a title. Ask which machine and modules are supplied, and check a configuration report where available. A photograph or list of possible family accessories is weaker than the exact installed configuration you can verify.

If your application requires PostScript, confirm that requirement before buying. The documented PCL6 arrangement may fit another workflow well, but it is not a substitute for a required language merely because both are ways to print a page.

Three hundred supplied ordinary sheets do not mean two cassettes

The standard paper total combines a 250-sheet main cassette and a 50-sheet multipurpose feed. A second 250-sheet cassette is optional. Compare the actual supplied sources rather than treating the family’s maximum capacity as standard.

Letter, Legal and A4 fit the documented ordinary-paper arrangement. Set the guides and software source to the loaded stock. In a shared office, agree which material belongs in each input so another person’s job does not unexpectedly use letterhead or special stock.

The multipurpose extension and main cassette require operating room. Leave space to load longer sheets and withdraw the cassette without bending paper or pulling cables. Access to the rear output is another part of the installation, especially for instructed special-media work.

Small envelope jobs use a distinct paper path

The multipurpose feed’s ordinary-paper capacity is not its envelope capacity. The original media table gives a small envelope stack, with rear output and the correct orientation. Follow the loading illustration and choose matching source, size and type settings in the application.

There is also an attended manual-feed mode for individual materials. It may suit a special sheet you want to inspect as it emerges, but requires participation rather than behaving like a large automatic stack. Trial the actual material before stocking up for repeated work.

When several people share the queue, check who can change printer defaults and how jobs select paper. A stable agreed configuration can prevent wasted special stock. Test a representative multipage file from the actual application, including its margins and page order, before treating a successful single test page as complete compatibility.

Network printing does not add original capture

The ML-2251N is print-only. It cannot scan an original to the network, make a standalone copy or fax a form. Automatic duplex is also not established by the checked operating sections, so the finder does not select it for a requirement for automatic two-sided reports.

The declared Letter rate and maximum monthly duty describe original specifications, not our timing or endurance results. Check the actual electrical label, cartridges, feed behavior and compatible drivers. Choose this configuration when included Ethernet and its two standard paper sources fit your routine; choose different equipment when scanning, supplied wireless or confirmed automatic duplex is essential.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

Declared 22 Letter / 20 A4 ppm; 30,000-page maximum monthly duty is not recommended recurring volume.

Paper handling

250-sheet main tray plus 50-sheet multipurpose input, 300 ordinary sheets for Letter, Legal or A4. Additional 250 cassette optional. Multipurpose input takes up to five suitable envelopes with rear output, rather than 50 envelopes. Automatic duplex unestablished.

Scanning arrangement

Print-only equipment, without a scanner, copying glass, document feeder or fax.

Computer and mobile connections

ML-2251N includes USB, parallel and Ethernet 10/100. Wireless is optional; do not borrow the ML-2252W radio. Configure compatible network software and addressing; no modern mobile protocol inferred.

Supplies and declared yields

Original 5,000-page replacement cartridge specification is not remaining toner, a live offer or a measured running cost.

Software and support

PCL6 and older emulations included; PostScript3 optional for these two models, unlike the distinct ML-2251NP. Standard 16 MB memory, maximum 144 MB after optional expansion. No installed PIN-release routine established.

Electrical edition and setup

Original US/Canada regional guide supports these exact raw XAA model leads. Offered electrical plate remains unchecked across regional editions. Body 358 × 452 × 278 mm / 14.1 × 17.8 × 10.9 in; 10.2 kg including consumables (~22.49 lb), operating access additional.
