Samsung ML-2571N: wired sharing with manual duplex review

The network interface is part of this model

The Samsung ML-2571N is the wired-network configuration in this compact monochrome family. Its original comparison lists an included 10/100 Ethernet interface, alongside computer USB and a legacy parallel port. That is a meaningful difference from the ML-2510 and ML-2570, which require a separate optional network server for Ethernet sharing.

For an established office network, the included interface avoids relying on that additional external box. It still needs a compatible driver, suitable addressing and a working network arrangement. Keep the printed configuration report available when installing each computer. Confirm the actual configuration page and connection rather than assuming that a printer appearing in a discovery list is fully ready.

Printing languages help define compatibility

The ML-2571N includes PCL and PostScript emulation as well as Samsung’s printing language, with 32 MB of nonexpandable memory in the original specification. Those features can matter to an application or established print workflow that expects a particular language.

They do not guarantee every modern desktop or mobile route. Historical Windows, Macintosh and Linux support lists describe the software environment available at the time. Check the driver and application options you need today, including whether manual duplex settings remain available.

Ethernet should also stay separate from Wi-Fi and phone-printing claims. The assessed configuration does not acquire an included wireless radio, AirPrint or Mopria merely because it can be shared on a wired network.

A practical stack for everyday documents

The ordinary main tray holds up to 250 sheets. Letter, Legal and A4 are supported, with the guides adjusted to the loaded size. Keep the software’s document size, paper type and tray source consistent so that a correctly loaded stack does not produce incorrectly scaled pages.

A separate manual feed accepts individual specialty materials, including suitable envelopes. This is useful for occasional correspondence while ordinary stock remains in the main tray. It is a one-at-a-time process, not a second full cassette for a sustained specialty queue.

Use the specified media weights and loading direction. Labels and envelopes have construction limits beyond their outside dimensions. A material that physically fits is not automatically suitable for the printer’s fusing and feed path.

Shared printing still needs manual two-sided handling

The ML-2571N’s documented duplex routine is manual. Someone must take the first-side output and refeed it as instructed. The original two-sided process is for suitable ordinary paper, with special materials excluded.

That handling requirement deserves attention on a shared printer. A person expecting an unattended two-sided report may instead find an incomplete job waiting for intervention. The finder therefore rejects this model when automatic duplex is essential, even if Ethernet and paper capacity otherwise fit.

For occasional two-sided letters, try a small job to establish the correct refeed and binding direction. For a continuing stream of duplex documents, compare a configuration with the required automatic mechanism included.

Check the individual earlier unit

The original declared rate is up to 25 Letter pages per minute. The 10,000-page monthly duty ceiling is a different type of figure from a recommended monthly workload and should not be used as one. We have not turned either specification into a measured speed or reliability claim.

Inspect the electrical label, consumables, paper feed and software support of the machine on offer. Starter and replacement cartridge ratings differ, and remaining toner cannot be inferred from the model name. The ML-2571N suits compatible wired document sharing when manual duplex is acceptable; scanning, fax and unattended two-sided output require different equipment. A short trial with your normal application, ordinary stock and longest regular document is more useful than assuming every family feature is supplied.
