Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can it automatically duplex Legal documents over WiFi with a 250-sheet main supply?
Yes, on a compatible configured wireless network with the documented ordinary media.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the supplied main stack meet a 500-sheet requirement?
No. The ordinary main supply is 250 sheets.
Explore this need in the finder →Can it scan a two-sided original automatically?
No. Its duplex mechanism handles printed output, not originals.
Explore this need in the finder →The DW model adds wireless to the wired printer arrangement
The Samsung ML-2955DW includes wireless networking as well as Ethernet and USB. Samsung’s original US sheet distinguishes that package from the ML-2955ND, which is the wired counterpart. For a compatible desk or small shared office, choose based on the connection you will actually use.
The radio uses the documented 802.11b/g/n infrastructure arrangement. Check the router, security settings and current driver before buying an earlier unit. WPS can help with compatible setup, but should not be treated as evidence that every modern phone-printing protocol is supported.
Automatic duplex covers ordinary document work
The printer has an included automatic duplexer, and the guide documents the ordinary Letter, Legal and A4 routine. It can turn output sheets without the manual reloading used by several smaller earlier printers. That is a useful distinction for someone regularly producing two-sided reports.
Choose the correct binding and orientation in compatible software, then run a short complete sample. Paper type matters as well as size. Envelopes, labels and unsuitable thick stock do not inherit permission to use the ordinary two-sided path.
The duplex mechanism does not capture originals. The ML-2955DW is print-only, with no scanning glass, document feeder, standalone copying or fax. If incoming paperwork needs digitizing, compare a multifunction model with a documented scan arrangement.
The manual feed is not another unattended paper stack
The main cassette holds up to 250 ordinary sheets. A separate manual route takes one sheet, and the guide instructs users not to leave manual-feed stock in place when printing from the cassette. Count the usable main supply rather than advertising 251 unattended sheets.
That individual-sheet route is useful for occasional special materials. Select the source and media type deliberately, load as instructed and perform the documented button action when needed. Someone printing many special sheets should account for the repeated attendance rather than comparing only a pages-per-minute figure.
Envelopes belong in the manual feed. The guide gives material, margin and loading instructions, and suggests the rear output for certain handling problems. Keep room behind the printer to use that route and access the paper path without moving the whole setup.
Eco controls change settings, not the underlying job
Samsung’s Eco features can alter paper and toner use through compatible settings. Check the resulting layout before using them for a form with fixed fields or important small print. A compacted document may use fewer sheets but still need to remain readable and correctly aligned.
The Confidential watermark is printed text. It should not be confused with a job that waits for a PIN before release. The guide’s advanced memory and drive sections are conditional on supported options, so they do not establish those features in the base configuration.
For several users, agree who loads special stock and changes defaults. A shared wireless connection does not prevent one job from using another person’s paper settings. Test from the actual application after a source or layout change, particularly when printed forms must align with existing fields.
Compare original specifications with the actual offered condition
The declared one-sided rate reaches 29 Letter pages per minute; duplex has its own lower rate. The monthly duty ceiling is not a recommended recurring workload, a measured endurance result or proof of an earlier unit’s present condition.
Starter and replacement cartridge yields also differ. Check the installed cartridge, available supplies, electrical label and representative print quality. Try the actual network connection and ordinary duplex document you need. Choose the ML-2955DW when its included wireless, automatic output turning and main tray fit; choose other equipment when scanning or a larger supplied stack is essential.

Paper, software and setup details
Print-rate conditions
Declared 29 Letter / 28 A4 one-sided ppm, duplex separately 14 ppm in original guide. Duty 12,000 monthly is a maximum, not recommended recurring volume.
Paper handling
250-sheet main cassette plus separate one-sheet manual route; ordinary Letter, Legal and A4 supported. Do not count 251 unattended sheets: guide requires manual feeder empty when using cassette. Included automatic duplex supports documented ordinary sizes, special envelopes/labels/thick stock excluded. Envelopes are manual-feed only.
Scanning arrangement
Print-only equipment, without a scanner, copying glass, document feeder or fax.
Computer and mobile connections
DW includes USB, Ethernet 10/100 and 802.11b/g/n wireless, with WPS. Separate compatible desktop/wired and configured infrastructure wireless plans; no WiFi Direct/AirPrint/Mopria inferred from generic network language.
Supplies and declared yields
US sheet lists 1,000-page original starter, 1,500 standard and 2,500 high-yield replacements under ISO/IEC 19752; no actual remaining toner or current cost inferred.
Software and support
PCL6/5e and SPL included, 64 MB standard. Generic optional-memory/drive stored-job sections are conditional; no installed PIN-release routine inferred. Confidential watermark prints text and is not a held job. Present OS support and modern mobile protocols unestablished.
Electrical edition and setup
Exact 2011 US brochure identifies both configurations and declared Letter rate. Body dimensions 13.7 × 13.3 × 7.7 inches; approximate 15.9 lb consistent with 7.2 kg guide. Access room additional. Regional 110–127 / 220–240 V editions require actual plate verification.
