Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can it print automatic two-sided Legal reports over Ethernet?
Yes, with compatible software and the specified ordinary paper.
Explore this need in the finder →Does an ML-2955ND include the DW model’s WiFi?
No. The original US model comparison assigns wireless to DW.
Explore this need in the finder →Can this network printer scan originals to a computer?
No. It is print-only.
Explore this need in the finder →A wired configuration with an included automatic duplexer
The Samsung ML-2955ND is the USB and Ethernet member of Samsung’s earlier ML-2955 comparison. It includes automatic two-sided output, making it relevant to a compatible small office that prints reports without needing wireless placement. The separate DW model is the one that adds the radio.
Keep that full suffix when evaluating an offer. A family title mentioning both machines does not give the ND an included wireless interface. For a wired office, check the actual network address, queue and compatible driver on the computers that will use it.
Ordinary Legal duplex is a documented use
The original guide supports the automatic two-sided routine for Letter, Legal and A4. That can be useful for longer forms or reports that should print without a person reloading every alternate side. Select the correct size and binding in the application and driver.
Run a representative short document first. Long-edge and short-edge choices produce different reading orientations, and an apparently correct first page does not show whether the remaining pages are bound as intended. Verify the complete result before sending a larger queue.
Special materials are a separate decision. Envelopes, labels and thick stock should not inherit ordinary duplex permission merely because the printer can accept them for another task. Follow the relevant source, weight and loading instructions.
Paper capacity needs a realistic reading
The main supplied cassette holds up to 250 ordinary sheets. The additional manual path takes an individual sheet; it is not another full paper source. The guide tells users not to load that path while printing from the cassette, so 251 should not be presented as an unattended ordinary stack.
For everyday forms, a loaded main tray can be convenient. For individual special sheets, choose the manual source deliberately and allow for the button routine described in the guide. The amount of attendance changes even when the underlying printing engine is the same.
Envelopes use the manual path, with material restrictions and a loading illustration. Trial a small quantity before purchasing a large supply. Leave access behind the printer for the instructed rear-output routine and for clearing the path when necessary.
The printer language and controls need matching software
The original US specification lists PCL6/5e and SPL. Choose a supported driver and test the actual document application rather than assuming every current system can use a historical printer. Confirm that duplex and source settings are available in the arrangement you will keep.
The Eco controls can change paper-saving or toner-saving settings. Check the resulting readability and alignment for fixed forms before relying on a saved preset. Lower paper use is useful only when the output remains suitable for its purpose.
A Confidential watermark is simply text on the page. Conditional memory or drive features elsewhere in the guide do not establish an installed PIN-release routine in the base printer. Keep document formatting separate from actual job-release security.
For repeat office jobs, save a known-good sample showing margins, page order and binding. It makes later driver changes easier to spot. Test from the actual shared computers rather than relying on a demonstration page produced locally at the printer, which does not exercise the whole network printing arrangement.
Check what an earlier unit can deliver today
The declared 29 Letter pages per minute is a one-sided manufacturer figure, separate from duplex speed. The monthly duty ceiling is a maximum specification, not a recommended recurring volume or an independent reliability test.
Inspect the electrical label, cartridge condition, feeding and a representative print sample. The original starter and replacement yields differ and do not reveal remaining toner. Choose the ML-2955ND for compatible wired monochrome duplex when its main supply is sufficient; choose another configuration when you need wireless, scanning, copying or a larger included paper stack.

Paper, software and setup details
Print-rate conditions
Declared 29 Letter / 28 A4 one-sided ppm, duplex separately 14 ppm in original guide. Duty 12,000 monthly is a maximum, not recommended recurring volume.
Paper handling
250-sheet main cassette plus separate one-sheet manual route; ordinary Letter, Legal and A4 supported. Do not count 251 unattended sheets: guide requires manual feeder empty when using cassette. Included automatic duplex supports documented ordinary sizes, special envelopes/labels/thick stock excluded. Envelopes are manual-feed only.
Scanning arrangement
Print-only equipment, without a scanner, copying glass, document feeder or fax.
Computer and mobile connections
ND includes USB and Ethernet 10/100; wireless belongs to the DW version, excluded here. Compatible desktop or configured wired-network arrangement; no Direct/AirPrint/Mopria inferred.
Supplies and declared yields
US sheet lists 1,000-page original starter, 1,500 standard and 2,500 high-yield replacements under ISO/IEC 19752; no actual remaining toner or current cost inferred.
Software and support
PCL6/5e and SPL included, 64 MB standard. Generic optional-memory/drive stored-job sections are conditional; no installed PIN-release routine inferred. Confidential watermark prints text and is not a held job. Present OS support and modern mobile protocols unestablished.
Electrical edition and setup
Exact 2011 US brochure identifies both configurations and declared Letter rate. Body dimensions 13.7 × 13.3 × 7.7 inches; approximate 15.9 lb consistent with 7.2 kg guide. Access room additional. Regional 110–127 / 220–240 V editions require actual plate verification.
