ML-3312NDIllustrated overview
A useful fit for

A compatible wired computer installation producing ordinary two-sided Letter, Legal or A4 documents without a scanner requirement.

The main tradeoff

The standard model lacks the neighboring DW’s wireless networking, and shared optional-memory features do not provide included passcode release.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can an Ethernet computer print two-sided Letter at the declared 33-page one-sided Letter rate, with 300 included input sheets and an envelope routine?

Yes with compatible installed software, configured Ethernet and permitted paper. The exact brochure and original guide establish 33 one-sided Letter pages/min, a lower duplex rate, and the included 250-plus-50 inputs. Suitable envelopes use the separate multipurpose-tray routine; that does not mean automatic duplex envelopes.

Can the USB arrangement automatically print both sides of Legal sheets from the standard input configuration?

Yes with the compatible print driver, supported stock and the duplex unit’s Letter/LGL size guide correctly positioned. Legal is listed for the included paper inputs and the original automatic duplex procedure. The additional 520-sheet drawer is optional.

Can I select it for Wi-Fi computer scanning and copying?

No. ML-3312ND is a print-only model without scanner or copier hardware, and its exact standard connection column lists USB and 10/100 Ethernet. The higher ML-3712DW’s wireless feature and generic Samsung software cannot add those functions.

ML-3312ND is a wired printer for ordinary double-sided documents

The Samsung ML-3312ND is an earlier print-only monochrome laser printer with automatic duplex, USB and 10/100 Ethernet. Its useful role is a compatible wired computer installation producing office documents, without requiring a scanner, copier or fax.

The neighboring ML-3712 models need careful separation. They bring different memory, emulations and network capabilities. In particular, the ML-3712DW's wireless connection should not be assigned to ML-3312ND simply because the printers share a brochure.

Check the driver and paper-size guide together

The original guide provides separate local USB and network-driver installation routines. Network printing requires the printer to have a valid address and the computer to use the correct discovered or specified device. A cable connection alone does not guarantee that a present operating system has a compatible driver.

For ordinary two-sided output, Letter, Legal and A4 are documented sizes. The duplex unit also has a physical Letter/LGL or A4 guide setting. Match that guide, the loaded stock and the driver's paper and binding selections; an incorrect physical size setting can undermine an otherwise correct print dialog.

ML-3312ND's listed emulations include PCL5e and Samsung SPL. A shared family instruction mentioning PostScript or another higher-model function does not establish that capability for this exact configuration.

The included 300 sheets come from two different inputs

A 250-sheet drawer and 50-sheet multipurpose tray provide 300 ordinary sheets on the guide's 80 gsm basis. Both cover Letter, Legal and A4. The one-sheet multipurpose feed mentioned for other family versions does not replace this display-equipped model's 50-sheet tray.

The optional 520-sheet drawer is a separate addition. Keep that distinction when comparing refill requirements: the larger expanded configuration is not what the base printer includes, and output capacity is another quantity again.

Special media need their own loading and paper-type settings. The guide sends suitable envelopes through the multipurpose tray, limits their weight and specifies margins. Follow its actual loading diagram rather than copying the flap orientation from a different printer.

If envelopes develop creasing or heavy lines, the original describes an alternative rear-output routine using the right pressure lever, with the rear cover open. That operating space is beyond the closed machine body. Envelope handling also does not imply automatic two-sided envelope printing.

Base memory does not include every confidential-job feature

The exact model has 64 MB, compared with the different ML-3712 memory arrangement. Shared advanced instructions describe private or confidential jobs with optional storage or memory and a configured RAM disk. Those additional conditions should not become included passcode release on this base printer.

A CONFIDENTIAL watermark is only text printed on a page. Similarly, a menu name appearing in a family manual does not prove that every model and installed configuration can use it. Verify the actual hardware and driver before relying on a held-job workflow.

The Eco button also deserves a settings check. Its defaults can combine duplex, multiple document pages per sheet, blank-page handling and toner saving. Choose the layout needed for the job rather than treating the button as a promise of a particular saving.

Separate declared speed, monthly duty and cartridge yield

The model brochure and original guide identify up to 33 one-sided Letter pages per minute, with lower duplex throughput. A government-list description gives a conflicting abbreviated rate; the model-specific brochure and operating guide provide the consistent Letter basis used here.

The 50,000-sheet duty figure is not a recommended sustained monthly workload. Toner declarations likewise describe standard and high cartridges under their stated test conditions, rather than today's running cost. ML-3312ND's documented replacement choices should not be expanded with the neighboring model's extra-high cartridge.

For an existing wired installation, its paper capacity and ordinary duplex routine are clear. Confirm the actual electrical label, compatible regional supplies and software before continued use; choose another verified model when wireless networking, document capture or included passcode release is essential.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

The exact Samsung America brochure declares up to 33 one-sided Letter pages/min for ML-3312ND. The original guide independently rates ML-331xND at 33 Letter/31 A4, with lower duplex rates. A preserved September 2014 government-list description says 24 ppm; that conflicting abbreviated row is retained but is not used over the exact brochure and guide for the Letter figure. The 50,000-sheet monthly duty is not a recommended regular workload, which remains unestablished. The effective 1,200 x 1,200 dpi claim and manufacturer benchmark are not measured results from this site.

Paper handling

ML-3312ND includes a 250-sheet drawer and 50-sheet multipurpose tray, totaling 300 ordinary sheets. The original guide bases those capacities on 80 gsm stock and positively lists Letter, Legal and A4. The display-equipped model’s 50-sheet tray must not be replaced with the one-sheet feed used by other family versions. Its built-in duplex unit supports Letter, Legal and A4 with permitted stock; the physical duplex-size guide has Letter/LGL and A4 positions that must match the job. The optional 520-sheet MLS3712A drawer is not included in 300. Suitable envelopes use the multipurpose tray, with the exact loading diagram and driver media settings. The guide limits suitable envelopes to 90 gsm and advises 15 mm margins. If creasing or heavy lines occur, it describes opening the rear cover and lowering the right pressure lever for that special path; leave the rear cover open during that instructed routine. This does not establish duplex envelopes.

Scanning arrangement

The exact original model table identifies ML-3312ND as a print-only monochrome laser printer. It has no scanner, copier, fax, glass or document feeder. General Samsung software names and the user-guide glossary’s TWAIN/WIA explanations do not add physical document capture. Its automatic duplex concerns printed paper only.

Computer and mobile connections

The exact ND column confirms USB 2.0 computer printing and 10/100Base-TX Ethernet. The nearby ML-3712DW supplies wireless and Gigabit Ethernet features that do not belong to this standard arrangement. Install the compatible model driver for the actual USB or network connection; network printing needs a valid printer IP address and the correct discovered or specified device. The optional parallel connector is a separate accessory with its own limitations and is not entered as a present finder connection. Native AirPrint, Mopria and Wi-Fi Direct are not established.

Supplies and declared yields

The exact brochure and original guide identify a one-piece toner-cartridge system: standard MLT-D205S at 2,000 pages and high MLT-D205L at 5,000, with declared ISO/IEC 19752 conditions. The brochure identifies a 2,000-page starter for ML-3312ND. MLT-D205E at 10,000 belongs to ML-371x and a specifically named regional 3310 exception, rather than this ML-3312ND. The original guide says compatible supply configurations differ by country. Verify the actual unit and replacement region; no current price, remaining life or cost per page is asserted.

Software and support

ML-3312ND has 64 MB and the documented PCL5e, SPL, IBM ProPrinter and EPSON emulations; the ML-3712 models’ PostScript/PCL6 and larger memory configuration are different. Shared advanced instructions for private or confidential jobs require optional memory/storage and a configured RAM disk; those conditions are not included in this base configuration, so base PIN release does not qualify. A printed CONFIDENTIAL watermark is not a held print job. Eco defaults may combine automatic duplex, two pages per sheet, blank-page skipping and toner saving; inspect the actual driver and administrator settings rather than treating the button as a measured saving. Dated Windows/Mac/Linux lists do not guarantee every current release.

Electrical edition and setup

The original guide identifies the ND body without the optional tray as 366 x 368 x 252.9 mm, or 14.40 x 14.48 x 9.96 inches. ML-331x machine weight with consumables is 9.74 kg/21.47 lb. The brochure rounds width/depth differently, to 14.41/14.49 inches; no carton or shorter non-ND body is substituted. Allow working and ventilation clearance beyond the body. The Samsung America brochure and US government list establish the US model context, with the original guide distinguishing the 110–127 VAC edition from 220–240 VAC models and requiring the actual rating label to be checked. This is an earlier model reference, without a current-stock or driver-availability claim.
