ML-4512NDIllustrated overview
A useful fit for

A compatible wired office doing sustained monochrome paperwork within its recommended workload.

The main tradeoff

Extra trays and private-job features depend on the actual configuration; the monthly duty ceiling is not a daily target.

The larger standard cassette is the useful starting point

The Samsung ML-4512ND is an earlier monochrome laser printer for a compatible wired office. Its standard paper arrangement is substantial: a 520-sheet cassette and a 100-sheet multipurpose tray. That is the supplied configuration to compare before considering an expanded stack.

A larger ordinary cassette can reduce the number of refills in a document-heavy routine. It does not remove the need to collect output, keep suitable paper available and check that the guides and rollers handle the stock consistently.

Keep the ML-4512ND separate from the faster family models

The original US brochure gives this exact model up to 45 Letter pages per minute. The neighboring ML-5012ND and ML-5017ND have different figures and expansion options. A family headline should not replace the ML-4512ND column.

The declared engine rate is not our timing result. A short file sent to a sleeping printer will behave differently from a continuous batch already printing. Think about how many separate jobs people submit, their complexity and how quickly each person needs the first complete document.

Recommended volume is a better planning number than the ceiling

The exact manufacturer reference lists a recommended monthly range of 3,500 to 5,000 pages. The much larger monthly duty figure describes a different limit; it is not a sensible promise of sustained everyday workload or a measurement of an older unit’s remaining life.

For an office comparison, count a typical month and note the busiest days. A weekly statement batch and a steady stream of small letters can place different demands on the same paper supply. Include time for refills and output collection in the practical routine.

Automatic duplex suits ordinary reports

The operating guide documents automatic two-sided printing with Letter, Legal and A4 ordinary paper under its stated conditions. Set the correct size and binding edge, then check a short complete sample before a larger report.

Specialty materials need a separate check. An envelope accepted through a specified route should not be treated as a duplex sheet, and a broad media-weight range does not apply to every path. Try the actual intended stationery before buying a large quantity.

The original exact US specification allows an additional 520-sheet cassette for a total of 1,140. Verify the accessory is included and feeds correctly. A photograph or capacity figure from the larger family configurations should not be used to describe the base ML-4512ND.

Wired printing and private jobs are separate setup decisions

Computer USB and Ethernet provide the ordinary desktop paths. A separate host port handles supported memory-device printing. Neither arrangement establishes built-in WiFi; plan for the cable and network location you will actually use.

The guide makes advanced private-job functions conditional on optional memory or storage arrangements. If confidential release matters, verify the complete installed configuration and compatible driver, then test submitting, holding and releasing a document. A security label in a family brochure is not enough to establish the actual workflow.

Assess the offered machine and its consumables

Toner and the imaging unit are separate items. Different declared replacement yields help identify supplies, but cannot establish remaining life, regional compatibility or current running cost. Inspect the actual parts rather than assuming a used offer includes a fresh full set.

Check the model and electrical plate, feeding, duplex output and representative text. Include a longer ordinary batch so intermittent pickup problems are easier to notice. Leave room for trays, covers, cables and output access. The ML-4512ND fits compatible wired monochrome work when its supplied paper handling and recommended workload suit the office; it does not replace a scanner or an unsupported mobile workflow.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

Original exact US Letter rate is 45 ppm, not neighboring 501x 50 ppm. HP exact model reference recommends 3,500–5,000 monthly; 200,000 duty ceiling is a separate maximum.

Paper handling

520-sheet cassette and 100-sheet multipurpose tray standard, ordinary Letter/Legal/A4. Original exact US maximum 1,140 with additional 520 cassette, not neighboring 2,700-sheet stack. Automatic duplex Letter/Legal/A4 confirmed in actual guide; specialty stock requires its separate route.

Scanning arrangement

Print-only equipment, without a scanner, copying glass, document feeder or fax.

Computer and mobile connections

Computer USB and Gigabit Ethernet, plus distinct USB memory-device printing. No built-in WiFi in exact manufacturer reference. Parallel connector is an optional arrangement, not assumed supplied.

Supplies and declared yields

Original US replacement MLT-D307S/L/E declared 7,000 / 15,000 / 20,000 ISO/IEC 19752 pages; separate MLT-R307 imaging unit around 60,000 under its own conditions. Offered remaining life and regional part compatibility require checking.

Software and support

128 MB standard; optional memory changes job-handling capability. Actual guide makes private-job functions conditional on optional memory/storage, so no base PIN-release plan assigned. Compatible driver and present operating-system support require checking.

Electrical edition and setup

Earlier US model reference. HP exact reference identifies 16.4 × 17.1 × 14.1-inch body but another current weight conflicts historical configuration, so body weight is left unspecified. Inspect electrical plate, accessories and space for access.
