SF-760P/XAA (SS196F)Illustrated overview
A useful fit for

A compatible workstation needing black documents, prepared one-sided feeder originals, color computer capture and separately connected analog fax.

The main tradeoff

The confirmed scan workflow uses the feeder, the computer interface is USB, and printed two-sided output requires user refeeding.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can the USB arrangement handle black Legal output and capture suitable one-sided Legal originals in color?

Yes with compatible scanner software and enabled Scan to PC. The 150-sheet ordinary-paper table includes Legal at 80 gsm, and the original feeder range accommodates Legal within capture margins. Fax additionally needs its separate compatible telephone service.

Can the compatible USB print setup make Letter documents and use an instructed envelope routine?

Yes. The maker declares up to 21 one-sided Letter pages/min. Suitable envelopes use the documented special-media feeding and stock conditions, separately from the full ordinary-paper stack.

Does the documented configuration establish a flatbed route for books and individual originals?

No qualifying flatbed arrangement is established in the reviewed instructions. The documented computer scan route loads suitable originals face down through the feeder; originals that must stay on a glass surface need a separately verified flatbed configuration.

A telephone fax workstation with USB computer functions

The Samsung SF-760P/XAA, identified by HP as SS196F, is an earlier USA monochrome laser fax multifunction configuration. It combines black printing, copying, color document capture and analog fax with a telephone handset and USB computer connection.

Its sensible role is a compatible workstation that still handles prepared paper originals and a traditional fax line. It should not be approached as a wireless office hub or as a substitute for a separately verified book-scanning arrangement.

The original feeder defines the scan routine

The documented feeder holds up to 20 suitable 80 gsm originals. Prepare a consistent stack, remove fasteners and avoid unsuitable coated, curled, torn or unusually thin documents. Adjust the guides and extend the original supports according to the instructions.

Originals load face down, which matters when users are accustomed to a larger office MFP's face-up feeder. The stated range accommodates suitable Letter, Legal and A4 originals within capture margins. Inspect a saved file for page order, orientation and edge coverage before relying on a batch.

The reviewed computer scanning arrangement uses that feeder. A color CIS description does not establish a flatbed surface, and a document-feeder headline does not establish automatic capture of both sides. Books, bound documents and originals that cannot pass through the feeder need an independently confirmed alternative.

Complete both USB software and telephone setup

For computer capture, install compatible scanner components as well as the print queue. Enable the panel scanning option in Easy Printer Manager, choose Scan to PC and confirm the intended application, file format and destination folder. TWAIN and WIA procedures use the attached USB computer.

The shared software name Network PC Fax does not add an Ethernet socket or wireless radio to this machine. Likewise, the USB computer cable is separate from the telephone LINE connection. Each has its own job in the normal arrangement.

Fax instructions call for a compatible traditional telephone service and describe separate considerations for DSL equipment. They do not promise that an internet-phone service will work. Confirm the actual line and receiving mode before depending on incoming faxes, and distinguish secure fax reception from protected release of ordinary computer print jobs.

Manual duplex and special media need attendance

The exact USA datasheet specifies manual printed duplex. Compatible software can guide a user through refeeding, but the machine does not turn a sheet automatically. That is a material limitation for frequent two-sided reports, even when short one-sided pages suit the workflow.

The ordinary-paper table supports 150 sheets of 80 gsm Letter, Legal or A4 stock. The 100-sheet output capacity and 20-sheet original feeder describe different parts of the machine. Manual feeding uses the same paper tray; it is not another input slot.

Suitable envelopes have their own stock, construction and loading requirements. The guide recommends individual feeding for special media, with confirmation at the panel when using manual source. Do not apply the full ordinary-paper stack capacity or manual duplex routine indiscriminately to envelopes.

Use the USA figures and the right measurement basis

The USA original declares up to 21 one-sided Letter pages per minute and a 10,000-page monthly maximum duty ceiling. A different regional brochure gives 20,000 pages. The USA declaration governs this configuration, and neither ceiling should be treated as a recommended monthly workload.

The USA brochure measures the body with its handset, while the operating guide's narrower dimension explicitly excludes that handset. Allow working room for the telephone, paper, original supports and maintenance rather than fitting an enclosure to the smaller number.

The 700-page initial toner declaration differs from the 1,500-page MLT-D101S replacement figure. Check regional markings, actual consumable condition, the electrical label and current host software before relying on this earlier machine for the workstation's daily document routine.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

The exact USA source declares up to 21 one-sided Letter pages/min. The alternate regional brochure separately declares 20 A4. The USA 10,000-page monthly duty ceiling differs from the alternate regional 20,000-page declaration and governs this USA profile. Neither figure is a recommended monthly workload; no recommended range is established. Manufacturer print rate and effective output resolution are separate from scanner timing and optical resolution.

Paper handling

The ordinary-paper table supports Letter, Legal and A4 at up to 150 sheets of 80 gsm stock. The 100-sheet output tray and 20-sheet original feeder are separate capacities. Manual feeding uses the same paper tray and requires OK for each sheet; it does not add another input slot. Suitable 75–90 gsm envelopes have a separate routine, smaller capacity and construction restrictions; the guide recommends individual feeding for special media. Two-sided printed output is manual refeeding, not automatic duplex.

Scanning arrangement

The documented document feeder holds up to 20 suitable 80 gsm originals. Original limits of 142–216 mm width and 148–356 mm length accommodate Letter, Legal and A4 within capture margins. Load originals face down, adjust guides and extend the original supports as instructed. The reviewed computer scan route is this feeder; a flatbed route and automatic two-sided original capture are not established. Color CIS scanning does not give the black print engine color output.

Computer and mobile connections

The reviewed included computer interface is USB. Install compatible scanner components, enable Scan from Device Panel in Easy Printer Manager and choose Scan to PC with the intended application and file settings. The original TWAIN and WIA procedures use the connected USB computer. Neither a software name containing Network PC Fax nor a separate telephone socket establishes an Ethernet or Wi-Fi computer arrangement.

Supplies and declared yields

The USA configuration declares a 700-page initial toner cartridge and a 1,500-page MLT-D101S replacement under ISO/IEC 19752. Check the exact regional cartridge markings and actual remaining condition. Replacement declarations are not remaining yield, current stock or an operating-cost calculation.

Software and support

Original host-system instructions do not guarantee current print or scan drivers. Check the intended host and software before relying on this earlier configuration. No AirPrint, Mopria or PIN-release printing arrangement is established. Secure fax reception is a separate function from holding ordinary computer print jobs for release. The fax setup requires a separately connected compatible traditional telephone service; the guide does not promise internet-phone operation.

Electrical edition and setup

The USA brochure gives approximately 16.8 x 10.2 x 11 inches with the handset and 13.9 lb. The operating guide gives 14.25 x 10.24 x 11.02 inches and 13.71 lb including consumables, with a footnote explicitly excluding the handset. These are different measurement arrangements. Allow extra paper and original supports, handset access and maintenance clearance. The guide distinguishes fixed 110–127V and 220–240V editions but sends frequency confirmation to the actual rating label, so full US mains compatibility remains unverified.
