Xpress C1860FW / SL-C1860FW/XAAIllustrated overview
A useful fit for

A compatible home office or small team that wants color output and network computer scanning and can handle two-sided jobs manually.

The main tradeoff

Neither print duplex nor feeder scanning is automatically two-sided; older mobile and scanner workflows need compatible software and setup.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can a Wi-Fi computer arrangement print color and receive single-sided Legal color scans?

Yes with compatible MFP software, enabled scan activation and a registered Network PC destination. Suitable Legal originals fit the one-sided feeder, and ordinary-paper cassette input is 250 sheets. Analog fax requires its separate telephone line.

Can USB operation use both glass and feeder when the original size is flexible?

Yes with compatible scanner software. The physical glass and one-sided feeder routes are established. The reviewed original sections do not give a complete glass-size specification, so confirm the required capture area for a specific glass original.

Does manual duplex meet a requirement for automatic two-sided Letter output?

No. The original exact-model material identifies manual duplex. The compatible Windows workflow needs the user to refeed the stack; it is not an automatic duplex unit.

Mobile conveniences sit alongside a manual paper workflow

The Samsung Xpress C1860FW is an earlier color laser multifunction machine with printing, copying, scanning and analog fax. The reviewed US configuration includes USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, NFC and a 4.3-inch touchscreen. These conveniences make the control and connection choices flexible, but they do not automate two-sided paper handling.

The original specification identifies manual print duplex. Its document feeder also captures only one original side. A person handling occasional two-sided documents may accept those steps; a team processing duplex contracts every day should assess the extra handling before choosing this arrangement.

Plan two-sided jobs around the operator

A compatible Windows driver can guide manual two-sided printing through the main tray. The machine prints one set of page sides, then the user reinserts the stack according to the prompt. Keep orientation and order consistent, and use appropriate paper. This is separate from an automatic duplex unit and does not meet an automatic-duplex requirement.

The standard cassette holds 250 sheets of suitable ordinary paper. Letter, Legal and A4 have that stated capacity on the guide's 80 gsm basis. The one-sheet manual feeder is an attended path, not another paper drawer. The larger 626x family's optional expansion cassette should not be counted here.

Envelopes and heavier media have their own weights, capacities and loading instructions. Match the media type and size in the driver and printer. A manual duplex option for ordinary sheets does not establish safe two-sided feeding for every special medium.

The feeder supports Legal originals on one side

The original guide specifies a 50-sheet feeder at 80 gsm and an original range reaching 216 by 356 mm. Suitable Letter, Legal and A4 originals fit within the documented range and capture margins. Remove staples, align the stack and load it face up.

It has no automatic duplex scan mechanism. Reversing a stack manually requires care with order and orientation; selecting a two-sided output layout does not make the scanner capture the back faces. The glass is a separate physical route for individual originals placed face down. Its full dimensions are not established in the reviewed sections, so confirm the required capture area instead of transferring the feeder's Legal length to it.

Configure the scanner and mobile route independently

The original computer-scanning procedure supports USB and network connections with compatible MFP software. Enable scan activation in Easy Printer Manager, and register the receiving computer for Network PC. Select that ID and supply its configured password when requested. A print driver alone does not guarantee a working scan destination.

TWAIN can use local or network operation, while the described WIA routine requires direct USB. The USB memory socket is another distinct destination. A broad scan-destination list should not be interpreted as direct FTP or SMB support: the exact family table reserves those server routes for other models.

NFC needs compatible mobile hardware, software and wireless settings. AirPrint uses a separately compatible local-network arrangement with Bonjour/mDNS and IPP enabled. Neither route automatically inherits desktop scanner controls or password-held print jobs. Check the actual device and software combination before relying on an older app or cloud-service logo.

Check consumables, working space and the exact unit

The manufacturer declares up to 19 one-sided Letter pages per minute in black and color. The scan image rate and 40,000-image maximum monthly duty ceiling are different measures; the latter is not a recommended workload. No hands-on performance measurement is implied.

The US initial toner declarations are 1,000 black pages and 700 per color. Replacement 504S yields differ, and the waste container is separate. Check actual supplies, electrical rating and scanner operation. Published body dimensions differ between the US datasheet and shared guide, so measure the particular unit and leave working clearance before allocating a tight shelf.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

The 2016 original product guide explicitly declares up to 19 one-sided Letter pages/min in black and color. The earlier datasheet gives 19 ppm without naming the paper size. Its 20 scan images/min declaration has separate conditions and is not print or automatic duplex performance. The 40,000-image monthly duty ceiling is not a verified recommended monthly workload. These are manufacturer declarations rather than this site's tests.

Paper handling

The standard ordinary-paper cassette holds 250 sheets at 80 gsm for suitable Letter, Legal and A4 stock. A one-sheet manual feeder requires attendance and is not an extra unattended 250-sheet source. The 626x family's optional 520-sheet drawer is not listed for C186x. Printing both sides is manual through a compatible Windows driver and tray 1; it does not satisfy automatic print duplex. Envelopes use suitable 75–90 gsm stock and their smaller guide capacities, with special media fed individually when required.

Scanning arrangement

The exact C186xFW column has a one-sided ADF and no duplex automatic feeder or automatic duplex scan. Capacity is 50 originals at 80 gsm; the documented 142–216 by 148–356 mm range accommodates suitable Letter, Legal and A4 originals within capture margins. Originals face up in the feeder or face down on glass, with the feeder cleared when glass is needed. A physical glass route is established, but its complete dimensions are not given in the reviewed original sections; that route has no asserted size list. The feeder's Legal length is not assigned to glass.

Computer and mobile connections

USB, Ethernet and Wi-Fi are included. The shared original guide specifies Gigabit Ethernet, whereas the 2016 US equipment list says 10/100; the positive wired connection is retained without a speed promise. Compatible Windows MFP software supports USB and network computer scanning. Enable scanning in Easy Printer Manager and register the receiving computer ID and configured password for Network PC. TWAIN works locally or over the network; the described WIA route requires direct USB. Fax additionally needs a compatible telephone LINE connection.

Supplies and declared yields

The US original declares initial supplies at 1,000 black pages and 700 pages per color. CLT-K504S replacement black is 2,500 pages, while C504S/M504S/Y504S are 1,800 pages each under ISO/IEC 19798. CLT-W504 is a separate waste-toner container. Check the actual regional markings and remaining condition of all four toners and maintenance parts; a nominal full-cartridge yield is not an offer cost or remaining-life estimate.

Software and support

C1860FW includes NFC, unlike CLX-4195FW in the same table. NFC requires compatible hardware, an appropriate mobile app and the documented wireless settings; it is not a universal connection or a promise of current app support. AirPrint separately requires a compatible local network with Bonjour/mDNS and IPP enabled. Exact Mopria support is unestablished. Generic RAM Disk/protected-print instructions elsewhere in the guide have model, storage and memory conditions, and the touchscreen Document Box table is restricted to 626xFW. An included working PIN-held print arrangement is not established here.

Electrical edition and setup

The US datasheet and 2016 product guide give 16.5 x 16.8 x 17.6 inches, while the later shared guide gives 17.64 x 16.42 x 16.65 inches for the family. A single body-size value is left unestablished because those figures differ beyond rounding. The approximately 47.3 lb US unit weight agrees with 21.44 kg with consumables in the guide; it is distinct from 55 lb shipping weight. Separate 110–127V and 220–240V editions exist, and frequency/current are referred to the actual label, so US mains compatibility is not asserted.
