A useful fit for

A compatible wired office handling black output, feeder originals and ordinary analog fax without needing a built-in wireless radio.

The main tradeoff

The 110V edition’s documented duplex sizes exclude A4, the feeder is not established as an automatic duplex scanner, and the manual slot adds no unattended capacity.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can the wired computer arrangement duplex Legal output and scan Legal originals through the feeder while supporting analog fax?

Yes with compatible MFP software, the registered network scan destination and a separately connected compatible analog fax line. The 110V duplex list includes Legal, and the feeder original range reaches 216 x 356 mm. The ordinary cassette holds 250 suitable sheets.

Can a USB-connected compatible computer scan A4 originals in color and make black copies?

Yes. The documented USB MFP arrangement supports computer capture, including the feeder’s A4 size range, and standalone copying. Color scanning does not make the printed copies color.

Does the documented 110V configuration automatically duplex A4 just because A4 can print?

No. The exact voltage-specific media table lists Letter, Legal, US Folio and Oficio for 110V duplex and A4 for 220V. A4 ordinary one-sided output does not remove that distinction.

M2875FD is the wired member of this small-office family

The Samsung Xpress M2875FD combines black laser printing, copying, color scanning and analog fax. Its standard Ethernet and USB connections suit a compatible office computer workflow, while a 40-sheet document feeder reduces repeated placement of ordinary originals on the glass.

The FD variant does not include the FW model's wireless radio. That matters when positioning the machine or choosing a network connection. Its automatic duplex unit is useful for suitable black documents, but output duplex and automatic scanning of both original sides are different requirements.

Prepare the computer scan destination as well as the print queue

For USB, install compatible MFP software and use the documented Local PC scan arrangement. The guide describes WIA and TWAIN routes, with its WIA routine specifically tied to a direct USB connection. A working printer queue alone does not prove the scanner components are installed.

For Ethernet, configure the actual network address and register the computer destination in Scan to PC settings. The Network PC routine can request that registered ID and its password. Compatible network TWAIN or WSD operation has its own software conditions.

That destination password is not PIN-release printing. It identifies access to a scan destination, rather than holding a computer print job for release at the machine. Check present software availability for the actual host rather than assuming the historical operating-system list covers it.

The feeder supports longer originals without proving duplex capture

The original feeder instructions accommodate suitable originals up to 216 x 356 mm, including Legal within the stated preparation and margin conditions. Fan a uniform stack, remove clips and staples, load it face up and adjust the guides. Its 40-sheet declaration has a specified paper-weight basis.

Use the glass for appropriate individual originals, face down at the upper-left registration guide. Remove feeder originals first when the glass is intended: the machine gives the feeder priority if both contain documents.

Neither a two-sided printed copy nor the ID-copy routine establishes automatic capture of both original sides. Plan to turn and manage two-sided originals manually unless the exact required scanning arrangement has been independently established. Color capture also remains separate from this machine's black printed output.

Check the voltage-specific duplex sizes before choosing paper

The ordinary cassette supports Letter, Legal and A4 at a declared 250-sheet capacity basis. The one-sheet manual feeder is a separate special-media routine, not an additional unattended paper reserve. The guide warns against loading that feeder while printing from the cassette.

Automatic duplex has a significant regional condition: the 110V table lists Letter, Legal, US Folio and Oficio, while the 220V table lists A4. For a 110V unit, A4 being printable is therefore insufficient evidence that it can be automatically duplexed.

Match the device and driver paper settings to the actual stock. Suitable envelopes use the manual path and its illustrated loading directions. Construction, heat tolerance and margins still matter, and the rear output has specific troubleshooting instructions for wrinkled special media.

Connect fax separately and keep workload figures distinct

Fax requires the LINE socket and compatible telephone service. The guide recommends a traditional analog arrangement and explains additional line conditions. Ethernet does not carry ordinary analog fax, and an Internet-phone setup is not automatically supported.

The manufacturer declares up to 29 one-sided Letter pages per minute, compared with 28 A4. Its 250–2,000-page recommended monthly range is separate from the 12,000-page duty ceiling. Neither figure is a reproduced performance measurement.

Check the separate toner and imaging unit, their regional markings and actual condition. Declared replacement yield is not remaining life. Leave working access above the scanner and around the paper paths, and verify the actual electrical label before installation.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

The original guide declares up to 29 one-sided Letter pages/min or 28 A4 for the M287x/M288x family. The exact model table confirms the Letter declaration. Copy and scanner images/min are separate figures, not duplex-print speed. The documented 250–2,000-page recommended monthly range is separate from the 12,000-page duty ceiling. Manufacturer declarations do not establish measured performance or an appropriate sustained workload at the ceiling.

Paper handling

The ordinary-paper cassette holds 250 sheets at the original 80 gsm basis and lists Letter, Legal and A4. A separate one-sheet manual feeder is an operator-fed special-media path, not extra unattended input. The guide warns against loading that feeder while printing from the cassette. For automatic duplex, the voltage-specific table lists Letter, Legal, US Folio and Oficio for 110V models and A4 for 220V models. The reviewed 110V computer plans therefore include Letter and Legal duplex, without borrowing A4 from the other edition. Match the actual paper size, source and type in the device and driver. Suitable envelopes use the manual feeder in the illustrated orientation with stock, construction, heat and margin limits; open the rear path if the prescribed troubleshooting conditions occur.

Scanning arrangement

The exact family has color CIS scanning, a flatbed and a 40-sheet feeder. The original loading instructions support originals up to 216 x 356 mm through the feeder, covering Letter, Legal and A4 within weight, preparation and margin conditions. Place glass originals face down at the upper-left registration mark; feeder originals go face up. The feeder takes priority when originals occupy both routes. These readings establish the flatbed route, but do not provide a separately verified exact glass-size range, so that route is left size-flexible instead of borrowing Legal from the feeder. Automatic two-sided original capture and single-pass duplex capture are not established. Output duplex and ID-copy manual turning do not prove either.

Computer and mobile connections

The exact FD variant provides USB and 10/100 Ethernet, without a built-in Wi-Fi radio. Compatible Windows MFP software supports the reviewed USB or wired-network computer printing and scanning arrangements. Configure the actual network address and registered Scan to PC destination; Ethernet printing alone does not establish that a scan destination is ready. AirPrint and Mopria printing use a suitably connected local network, which can include a wireless access point for the mobile device even though the printer itself is wired. Analog fax additionally needs its LINE connection and compatible telephone service.

Supplies and declared yields

The family uses separate toner and imaging-unit supplies. The exact 2875/2885 rows list MLT-D116S at a declared 1,200 pages, MLT-D116L at 3,000 pages and MLT-R116 at 9,000 pages. The USA sheet distinguishes a 1,200-page starter. Cartridge declarations use ISO/IEC 19752 and do not establish remaining supply life or current running cost. Check exact regional supply markings and the installed toner and drum condition.

Software and support

The reviewed Windows MFP setup requires compatible print and scanner software. USB scanning uses Local PC and supports the documented WIA or TWAIN arrangement. Network scanning uses registered Network PC settings or compatible network TWAIN/WSD software; the guide restricts its WIA routine to USB. A four-digit Network PC scan password identifies a scan destination and is not included PIN-release printing. AirPrint requires a certified model, network access, Bonjour/mDNS and IPP enabled. Mobile printing is recorded separately from desktop scanning and automatic-duplex settings. Historic cloud-service and app references are not promises of current availability.

Electrical edition and setup

The original guide gives a 401 x 362 x 367 mm body without a handset and 11.3 kg including consumables for the M2875/M2885 family, approximately 24.9 lb. Width and height are approximately 15.8 and 14.4 inches. Its 14.2-inch depth and the USA sheet’s 14.3-inch depth differ, so the precise depth is not assigned. Allow space above the glass and feeder and around extended paper and rear output paths. Manufacturer specifications identify separate 110–127 VAC and 220–240 VAC versions at 50/60 Hz. Verify the actual rating label; these are separate editions rather than a universal-voltage promise.
