A useful fit for

Color documents from a compatible computer or basic mobile printing on a suitable shared network.

The main tradeoff

It has no scanner or fax, the maker’s recommended monthly maximum is 1,500 pages, and exact base-model PIN release remains unestablished.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can a USB computer print Legal in color on both sides from the included 250-sheet tray?

Yes. The exact C230 table confirms Legal in the tray and automatic duplex path. Use compatible computer software, the correct ordinary-paper settings and the declared paper basis.

Does the shared Print and Scan Experience application give the C230 a scanner?

No. The exact C230 is print-only. The neighboring C235 supplies the physical glass and document feeder; the software name does not add them to this printer.

Can a 2,000-page monthly requirement use the 30,000-page duty ceiling?

No. The maker’s recommended maximum is 1,500 pages/month. The higher duty figure is a separate maximum-volume limit and does not satisfy that recommended-workload requirement.

Color printing when a scanner is unnecessary

The Xerox C230/DNI is a compact print-only color laser model for ordinary documents from a compatible computer or a suitable shared mobile network. USB, Ethernet, built-in Wi-Fi and automatic two-sided printing are included in the US configuration. Its practical workload boundary is the maker's recommendation of up to 1,500 pages per month.

Choose it when scanning, copying and fax are handled elsewhere. The neighboring C235 has those document functions; the C230 does not gain them from a shared brochure or the name of Xerox's Print and Scan Experience application. Keeping the functions narrow also makes its paper and connection requirements easier to assess.

A full paper tray and a separately attended slot

The included ordinary tray holds 250 sheets at the brochure's 75 gsm basis. The manual slot takes one sheet at a time. Although the store combines them into a 251-sheet headline, the last sheet is not an automatically linked reserve. For an unattended ordinary-paper run, plan around the automatic tray.

The current operating table confirms Letter, Legal and A4 in the tray, manual feed and automatic duplex path. Set the actual size and media type correctly in both the printer and compatible computer software. The tray's ordinary loading instructions place the printable side up, while preprinted letterhead orientation changes between one-sided and two-sided jobs.

Envelopes use a different one-sided routine. The standard-tray table limits their stack to five, and the manual-feed instructions place an envelope flap down against the right guide. Wait for the printer's prompt before feeding another manual sheet. Envelope handling is not evidence for automatically duplexing an envelope or for ordinary-paper capacity at that size.

Choose USB, a shared network or a peer network deliberately

The rear Type B USB connection links a computer directly to the printer. Ethernet and built-in Wi-Fi offer shared-network alternatives. The documented Wi-Fi setup requires the Ethernet cable to be disconnected, so these should be planned as alternative active network arrangements.

Wi-Fi Direct is a separate peer connection with its own printer network name and password. Joining that network is different from placing the printer on an office router. Configure the intended route and use a compatible driver or application; a Wi-Fi feature name alone does not settle the entire job setup.

Basic AirPrint requires a compatible Apple device on the same network and subnet. Mopria requires its enabled service and a compatible app. These routes support ordinary mobile printing, but an app's available paper, duplex and job-protection controls still need checking. A mobile protocol should not silently inherit every desktop-driver setting.

Read performance and security claims with their conditions

The brochure declares up to 24 one-sided Letter pages per minute in color or black, versus 22 on A4, under ISO/IEC 24734. Those figures are not a measured result or a claimed automatic-duplex rate. The separate 30,000-page monthly duty ceiling does not replace the 1,500-page recommended monthly maximum.

Confidential printing appears in the source feature lists. However, the read release procedure refers to touching a home-screen control, while the exact C230 documentation identifies a button-operated two-line LCD. A complete exact-model PIN-release arrangement remains unestablished here. If assured PIN release is essential, confirm the driver and panel procedure before choosing this configuration.

Allow access and distinguish starter supplies

The US package includes 500-page starter CMYK cartridges. The brochure's standard replacements declare 1,500 pages each; high-capacity cartridges declare 3,000 black and 2,500 color pages. Their ISO/IEC 19798 average-standard-page basis does not predict every document's yield or a current cost per page. The waste toner bottle has a separate service figure.

The body measures 16.2 inches wide, 15.5 deep and 9.6 high, at 35.5 pounds. Leave additional room for the tray, open covers and ventilation rather than measuring only the closed box. Choose an MFP when originals must be captured at the same device, or a model with a higher documented recommended workload when monthly volume regularly exceeds this printer's stated range.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

Up to 24 one-sided color/black Letter pages/min or 22 A4, declared to ISO/IEC 24734 in the brochure. The maker recommends up to 1,500 pages/month, separate from the 30,000-page maximum duty ceiling. The brochure’s general two-sided marketing line is not used as a 24 ppm duplex rate.

Paper handling

The included automatic tray holds 250 ordinary sheets at 75 gsm; the one-sheet manual slot is a separately attended source. The store’s 251 total is not 251 automatically linked sheets. Current original tables confirm Letter, Legal and A4 in the tray, manual feeder and automatic duplex path. Envelopes have a separate one-sided routine and standard-tray maximum of five. Output holds 100 ordinary sheets. Optional-tray text in the guide does not establish an included expansion.

Scanning arrangement

The exact C230 is print-only. The C235’s glass, ADF, computer scanning, copying and fax are not C230 functions. A shared Print and Scan Experience application name does not supply scanner hardware.

Computer and mobile connections

The US DNI model includes USB Type B, 10/100 Ethernet and built-in Wi-Fi, plus separately configured Wi-Fi Direct peer printing. The documented infrastructure Wi-Fi setup requires Ethernet disconnected. AirPrint uses a supported Apple device on the same network/subnet; Mopria needs its enabled service and compatible application. No USB-only desktop route borrows mobile-network features.

Supplies and declared yields

Starter CMYK cartridges declare 500 pages. The US brochure lists standard replacements of 1,500 pages per color and high-capacity 3,000-page black/2,500-page colors, with average standard pages declared to ISO/IEC 19798. Standard numbers are 006R04383–006R04386; high-capacity numbers 006R04391–006R04394. Waste bottle 008R13326 has its own 15,000-page declaration. Actual coverage changes yield; no live page cost is calculated.

Software and support

Use compatible computer drivers and paper settings for ordinary media and automatic duplex. The source lists confidential printing, but the read release procedure describes a touch home screen while the exact C230 has buttons and a two-line LCD. An exact complete base-model PIN release arrangement remains unestablished; PIN is unknown, not asserted absent. Basic mobile routes do not promise every desktop setting.

Electrical edition and setup

US C230/DNI current manufacturer reference. Body is 16.2 in wide, 15.5 in deep and 9.6 in high, weighing 35.5 lb; the exact store’s 40 lb shipping weight is not used as body weight. Allow tray, cover and ventilation access. An explicit input-voltage rating is unestablished in the read material; check the actual unit label.
