Phaser 4510/DTIllustrated overview
A useful fit for

Compatible wired computer offices needing a main drawer, an extra included feeder and a separate multipurpose source for black documents.

The main tradeoff

The DT is print only, while the hard drive for Secure Print and the output stacker remain optional.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can Ethernet automatically duplex Legal monochrome documents with 1,250 included sheets for 20,000-page months?

Yes. DT includes 150 + 550 + 550-sheet sources, with Legal positively supported in the tray range and ordinary automatic duplex included. The current US monthly headline is 25,000; the larger duty figures are separate maxima.

Can USB handle ordinary Letter duplex plus a separate occasional envelope routine at a declared 45 ppm Letter simplex rate?

Yes. A compatible computer driver supports the included duplex unit, with the maker separately declaring 45 one-sided Letter pages/min. Suitable envelopes use the appropriate tray and settings in a separate one-sided job; they do not inherit duplex or the ordinary-sheet input count.

Does standard DT provide passcode-held Secure Print because it includes more paper capacity than N?

No. The optional minimum 40 GB Hard Drive Kit enables Secure Print on DT. The extra paper feeder, RAM collation and automatic duplex do not add that disk; DX has a different included arrangement.

Three paper sources make DT a distinct configuration

The Xerox Phaser 4510DT is an earlier monochrome laser printer with automatic two-sided printing and 1,250 nominal input sheets included. Its arrangement combines a 150-sheet multipurpose source, a 550-sheet main drawer and an additional 550-sheet feeder. That gives a compatible computer office more flexibility to keep ordinary stocks separated.

DT adds the feeder and duplex unit to the networked N configuration. It does not include the DX's hard drive or offset output stacker. The printer is also strictly print only: an extra blank-paper drawer is not an original-document feeder, scanner, copier or fax.

Match the selected paper to its tray and duplex settings

The original user guide lists Letter, Legal and A4 across Trays 1–4. The included DT trays therefore support those normal sizes within the documented paper limits. The multipurpose source accepts custom widths from 76 to 216 mm and lengths from 127 to 356 mm; the larger drawers have a narrower minimum size of 98 by 148 mm.

Ordinary automatic duplex is available from all trays when the duplex unit is installed, as it is on DT. Use a supported size, the correct media setting and the applicable 64–216 gsm range. The driver also needs the intended long-edge or short-edge binding so the reverse pages turn correctly.

In the original Windows driver, these choices appear under Paper/Output and 2-Sided Printing. The documented Mac route uses Duplex, Print on Both Sides and the appropriate binding icon. These instructions describe the original supported routine; they do not promise compatibility with every present operating system.

The 1,250-sheet figure is a nominal ordinary-paper total, with a precise stock basis for that full count unestablished. A fourth 550-sheet source expands the configuration to 1,800, but is optional. The separate 500-sheet output stacker does not increase input capacity.

Envelopes have their own one-sided routine

Xerox allows suitable envelopes from all trays, with the correct format and type settings. Use paper envelopes made for laser printers, stored flat and protected from moisture. Windows, metal clasps and padded construction are unsuitable.

Envelopes cannot use automatic two-sided printing. Transparencies, labels and die-cut specialty media are also excluded from that duplex routine. Keeping ordinary duplex reports and occasional envelope jobs available on the same printer does not mean the same media can follow both paths.

Choose USB or an established Ethernet network

DT includes USB 2.0, 10/100Base-TX Ethernet and a parallel interface. USB directly connects one compatible computer. Ethernet uses a configured network address and provides the CentreWare Internet Services browser interface for printer management, settings and status.

The original connection instructions require suitable cabling obtained separately. Wireless is an optional adapter, while native AirPrint and Mopria remain unestablished. Verify the operating system, driver and actual installed options before moving daily work to an older unit.

The extra feeder does not add confidential release

Standard DT has 128 MB RAM, expandable to 512 MB. Adobe PostScript 3 and PCL emulations are documented, along with ordinary RAM collation. These features do not establish disk-held jobs.

The minimum 40 GB Hard Drive Kit enables the listed Secure, Proof, Personal and Saved Print functions and remains optional on DT. DX includes that disk. If passcode-held release is essential, verify the installed kit and compatible driver rather than inferring it from DT's taller body or duplex function.

Plan workload, supplies and the complete footprint

The original configuration guide declares up to 45 one-sided Letter or 43 A4 pages per minute; its separate duplex figure is 27 images per minute. These manufacturer figures are not measured results. The current US reference page gives up to 25,000 pages per month for ordinary workload planning.

The May 2009 brochure declares a 250,000-page duty cycle, while the January 2009 US list says 200,000. Both source editions are retained; neither figure is the regular monthly recommendation.

The supplied standard print cartridge and replacement 113R00711 are declared at 10,000 pages, with high-capacity 113R00712 at 19,000 under ISO/IEC 19752. The maintenance kit has its own basis and interval. Inspect actual consumables rather than assuming an older machine retains its original package contents.

The exact US list identifies 4510/DT as 110 V. The brochure's generic body dimensions do not resolve the whole DT with its included feeder, so measure the actual arrangement and leave additional loading, output, cover, service and ventilation room.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

Original configuration guide declares up to 45 one-sided Letter or 43 A4 pages/min; automatic duplex is separately 27 images/min, with no unestablished Letter/A4 attribution added to that duplex figure. Actual throughput varies with job and settings. Current exact US page gives up to 25,000 pages/month. Later May 2009 brochure declares 250,000 maximum duty versus January 2009 list 200,000; both source editions are retained, and later 250,000 is recorded only as the maker maximum, not a sustained recommendation.

Paper handling

DT includes 150-sheet Tray 1, 550-sheet Tray 2 and one additional 550-sheet Tray 3, totaling 1,250 nominal ordinary sheets. The original guide positively supports Letter, Legal and A4 in Trays 1–4; the precise stock basis of the full nominal count is unestablished. Included automatic duplex supports these ordinary sizes within the documented 64–216 gsm media restrictions. Envelopes can use all trays with the correct laser-compatible paper construction and size/type setup; they cannot be duplexed, nor can transparencies, labels or die-cut media. Another 550-sheet Tray 4 and offset stacker are optional; 1,800 is expanded input, not standard DT.

Scanning arrangement

A monochrome print-only laser printer without scanning, copying, fax, glass or an original-document feeder. Its extra included drawer holds blank paper and is not an ADF.

Computer and mobile connections

DT includes direct USB 2.0 compatible computer printing, 10/100Base-TX Ethernet network printing and parallel. The original USB A/B cable and Ethernet cabling must be obtained for the actual arrangement. Ethernet uses network addressing and provides CentreWare Internet Services for management. Wireless is optional. Native AirPrint/Mopria and present operating-system driver compatibility are unestablished.

Supplies and declared yields

US replacement standard-capacity print cartridge 113R00711 is declared at 10,000 pages and high-capacity 113R00712 at 19,000 under ISO/IEC 19752, varying with image, coverage and mode. The brochure explicitly says the printer ships with the standard cartridge; it also lists a supplied drum capacity of 60,000, without a separate drum reorder part in the read supply table. The 110 V maintenance kit 108R00717 has a separate approximate 200,000-page basis using Letter/A4 20 lb (75 gsm) pages. No current price, remaining-life or used-unit contents claim.

Software and support

128 MB standard RAM is expandable to 512 MB, with Adobe PostScript 3 and PCL 5e/PCL 6 emulation. RAM collation and normal duplex do not establish disk-held Secure Print. The minimum 40 GB Hard Drive Kit is optional on DT and standard only on DX; it enables the listed Secure/Proof/Personal/Saved Print functions. Base DT PIN release is therefore false. PDF-direct printing additionally requires 512 MB according to the original table. Current driver and optional-feature activation must be verified separately.

Electrical edition and setup

The original exact US configuration column identifies 4510/DT as 110 V. Whole installed DT dimensions and weight remain unestablished: the brochure gives one generic family body figure without resolving the included extra feeder. Do not assign the shorter base printer body, add carton shipping measurements or infer exact installed height by arithmetic. Inspect actual label, feeder, duplex unit and body, allowing loading, output, covers, maintenance and ventilation clearance.
