Phaser 4622/DTIllustrated overview
A useful fit for

Compatible workgroups that need a second main drawer, confidential computer jobs and automatic two-sided office documents.

The main tradeoff

The DT body is taller and heavier than DN; wireless and persistent stored-job features require options.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can Ethernet handle confidential Legal documents, automatic duplex and 1,200 included sheets for 20,000-page months?

Yes with a compatible computer driver and ordinary 64–120 gsm duplex paper. The exact DT table includes both 550-sheet drawers plus the 100-sheet bypass. Secure Print needs no disk. Current US ordinary monthly guidance is up to 25,000; the older guide has a lower drawer figure, so check the actual unit.

Can an Apple mobile device use native AirPrint while the printer connects by Ethernet?

Yes on a suitable configured network with a compatible application. The original administrator guide explicitly allows the wired printer interface and requires the appropriate subnet, IPP and multicast DNS settings. An optional printer Wi-Fi card is not needed for this documented Ethernet arrangement.

Does the standard DT support AirPrint when the printer is connected only by USB to a computer?

That arrangement is not established. USB provides compatible computer printing, while the native AirPrint instructions use a network. The included third drawer and automatic duplex hardware do not turn a USB cable into the reviewed mobile network route.

DT adds a drawer while retaining duplex and secure release

The Xerox Phaser 4622DT is an earlier monochrome laser printer for workgroups that need several paper sources, automatic two-sided documents and confidential computer jobs. The exact DT configuration adds a second 550-sheet drawer to DN, bringing the declared standard total to 1,200 sheets with the 100-sheet bypass. It also has native network AirPrint, but printer wireless hardware remains optional.

This is a print-only machine. It has no scanner, copier or fax, and its output mailbox and extra paper feeders do not change that. DT also occupies a taller, heavier body than DN, which matters when checking an existing desk or printer stand.

Use the included drawers without counting accessories

The exact configuration table specifies 100 plus 550 plus 550 sheets at 80 gsm. Ordinary Letter, Legal and A4 fit all three included sources. DT can therefore separate two ordinary document stocks while retaining the bypass for shorter runs, subject to correct source and size settings.

There is an edition difference worth checking on the actual machine: the user guide gives 520 sheets per drawer at its stated 80 gsm basis, while the later exact table and brochure specify 550. This assessment uses the later 1,200-sheet DT declaration and preserves the earlier figure. Load only to the drawer's marked line.

Further drawers, a high-capacity feeder, finisher and mailbox are optional. A tower photograph may show these extras, so identify the actual package rather than treating the largest pictured arrangement as standard.

Automatic duplex has its own media limits

Automatic two-sided printing is standard on DT. The original comparison positively lists Letter, Legal and A4 for the duplex path, with a 64–120 gsm range. The bypass and drawers accept broader one-sided media ranges, which do not extend that automatic-duplex limit.

For normal computer jobs, select the correct printer, open its preferences and match paper size, type and source before choosing two-sided output. The administrator guide says installed options must be represented correctly in the driver. An option appearing on a generic driver screen does not prove that an accessory is fitted.

Release confidential jobs without buying the disk

Secure Print is included and explicitly works without a hard drive. In a compatible computer driver, choose that job type and enter a passcode. At the printer, open Menu, Jobs and Personal & Secure Jobs, select the user and enter the matching code. Choose an individual job or Print All, then confirm the action.

The guide warns that secure jobs sharing a code may all be released together. This routine should therefore be understood before sending several confidential files. Passcode length and retention after a power interruption remain unestablished here.

The optional 320 GB disk supports different stored-job functions, including Sample Set, Personal Print, Delay Print and Saved Job. Do not confuse those options with the included passcode release.

AirPrint uses the network arrangement

USB 2.0 supports a direct compatible computer and driver, while Gigabit Ethernet supports network printing. Native AirPrint can use the printer's wired interface: the original administrator guide specifically permits that arrangement. A mobile device still needs a suitable shared network and a compatible application.

AirPrint, IPP and multicast DNS registration must be enabled, and the documented default is enabled. The guide requires the submitting device on the same subnet unless the network is configured to pass the necessary multicast discovery traffic. An administrator can change these settings.

This does not establish an included Wi-Fi radio, USB-only phone printing or Mopria. The reviewed mobile arrangement also does not inherit the full computer driver's confidential-job and duplex controls without separate confirmation.

Use a small envelope routine and realistic volume

The bypass instructions permit up to ten suitable envelopes. Remove curl, load print side up against the right edge and set the actual format and media type at the panel and in the driver. That envelope routine is separate from ordinary-sheet capacity and automatic duplex.

Xerox declares 65 one-sided Letter pages per minute, separately 62 A4 and 53 Legal. Duplex figures are lower and expressed in images per minute. The current US reference gives up to 25,000 pages per month; its 275,000-page duty figure is a one-month maximum expressly not intended for sustained regular use.

Check the US body and maintenance parts

The North American part-number crosswalk identifies 4622/DT as 110 V. Its declared body is 18.7 by 21.3 by 22.3 inches and 101.4 pounds, excluding the extra operating clearance needed around paper, covers and service areas.

The brochure lists supplied toner with 10,000-page capacity and a separate 80,000-capacity drum. Replacement toner declarations, approximate drum life and maintenance-kit life use different bases. Match the exact US electrical maintenance kit and actual supply part; a regional 220 V kit is different. For fewer paper sources and a shorter body, compare the DN configuration, while checking its lower included capacity.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

Original comparison and actual guide declare 65 one-sided Letter pages/min, separately 62 A4 and 53 Legal. Automatic duplex is separately rated at 45 Letter, 43 A4 or 34 Legal images/min. These are manufacturer declarations, not measured results. Current US reference gives up to 25,000 pages/month; the 275,000-page duty figure is explicitly a one-month maximum not expected to be sustained regularly.

Paper handling

Exact DT configuration includes 100-sheet MPT, 550-sheet Tray 2 and 550-sheet Tray 3, totaling 1,200 at 80 gsm. All three support ordinary Letter, Legal and A4. The original user guide instead says 520 per drawer at 80 gsm; later exact configuration and brochure specify 550, used here with the edition difference retained. Automatic duplex supports Letter, Legal and A4 at 64–120 gsm; broader simplex media weights do not extend that limit. Further drawers, high-capacity feeder, finisher and mailbox are optional. For suitable paper envelopes the bypass routine permits at most ten, print side up against the right edge, with matching panel and driver size/type/source settings. This is separate from ordinary-sheet capacity and duplex.

Scanning arrangement

A monochrome print-only laser printer without a scanner, copier, fax, glass or original-document feeder. The optional blank-paper feeder, output mailbox and front flash-drive port are not scanning hardware.

Computer and mobile connections

Included USB 2.0 supports a direct compatible computer and driver; Gigabit Ethernet supports configured network printing. Native AirPrint is positively documented, including use of the printer wired network interface with a suitable shared network/subnet and compatible Apple application. AirPrint, IPP and multicast DNS registration must be enabled. Built-in wireless is optional; Ethernet AirPrint does not establish an included radio or Wi-Fi Direct. USB mobile printing and Mopria remain unestablished.

Supplies and declared yields

The US brochure lists supplied toner with 10,000-page print capacity and an 80,000-capacity drum; it does not give the starter toner a separate ISO measurement basis. Replacement 106R01533 is declared at 13,000 and 106R01535 at 30,000 standard pages under ISO/IEC 19752, varying with content, coverage and mode. Current US 113R00769 drum is approximately 80,000 pages with an average three-page A4/Letter job basis. US 110 V maintenance kit 115R00069 is approximately 150,000 pages and includes a fuser, bias transfer roller and six feed rollers; fuser basis is A4/Letter 20 lb 75 gsm. The 220 V kit 115R00070 is a different electrical part.

Software and support

Included Secure Print works without a hard drive. Select Secure Print and a passcode in a compatible computer driver. At the panel open Menu, Jobs, Personal & Secure Jobs, choose the user, enter the matching passcode, then print an individual job or Print All and confirm Yes. Secure jobs sharing a code may all be released together. Optional 320 GB storage is needed for Sample Set, Personal Print, Delay Print and Saved Job; these are not base features. AirPrint does not inherit the full-driver secure-release or duplex controls in the separate reviewed mobile plan. The original admin guide requires driver installable options to match actual hardware. Native 600 x 600 dpi and enhanced 1200 x 1200 image quality are distinct.

Electrical edition and setup

Original North American product-reference crosswalk specifically identifies 4622/DT as 110 V; the family brochure covers both 110–127 and 220–240 V editions. Inspect the actual label. Exact DT body is 18.7 x 21.3 x 22.3 inches and 101.4 lb, with included third tray, rather than the shorter DN body. These are machine figures, not carton dimensions; precise consumable basis is unestablished. Allow extra loading, output, open-cover, maintenance and ventilation room. The maker now says the model is no longer sold as new; actual current OS drivers and administrator policy require checking.
