Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can the base Ethernet DN print color two-sided Letter with at least 350 sheets included?
Yes with the documented compatible Windows computer driver and supported paper. DN includes Ethernet and automatic duplex, and both its 250-sheet drawer and 100-sheet multipurpose path accept Letter. The 5-page color Letter rate is a manufacturer declaration, not the 21-page monochrome figure.
Explore this need in the finder →Can I keep at least 300 sheets of Legal loaded in the included configuration?
No. Legal fits the 100-sheet multipurpose path, while the included 250-sheet drawer is Letter/A4 only. The optional 500-sheet drawer is also Letter/A4 only. Adding those headline capacities cannot satisfy a Legal-paper minimum.
Explore this need in the finder →Can it still automatically duplex Legal when my included-capacity requirement is only 100 sheets?
Yes with a compatible USB computer driver, the multipurpose path and the specified duplex stock. Legal is explicitly listed for automatic two-sided printing. The 100-sheet capacity describes that actual paper route, rather than borrowing the main drawer’s Letter/A4 capacity.
Explore this need in the finder →Automatic duplex is included, with a paper-size qualification
The Xerox Phaser 6100DN is an earlier print-only color laser printer with standard automatic two-sided printing. DN also includes Ethernet alongside USB and a historical parallel interface. That makes it different from the BD configuration, whose original package lacks DN's network arrangement.
The important qualification is paper capacity by size. A 250-sheet drawer and 100-sheet multipurpose tray produce a 350-sheet headline, but the drawer accepts Letter and A4 only. Legal jobs use the smaller multipurpose path. A useful comparison needs both the desired size and its actual input capacity.
Plan Legal work around the multipurpose tray
Letter and A4 can use both included paper inputs. Legal fits the multipurpose tray, whose ordinary-paper capacity is 100 sheets on the original 75 gsm basis. It does not gain another 250 sheets simply because the main drawer remains installed.
The optional 500-sheet feeder is also limited to Letter and A4. Its expanded total therefore helps those formats, rather than creating an 850-sheet Legal printer. Check the real trays on an existing unit before treating a photograph with an extra drawer as the standard package.
Automatic duplex is explicitly listed for Letter, A4 and Legal on supported stock. Use the correct path and the specified paper weight, and match the driver settings to what is loaded. A 100-sheet Legal job can have a documented two-sided arrangement even though a 300-sheet Legal capacity requirement cannot be met by the base machine.
Color and monochrome have different declared speeds
The original guide distinguishes up to 21 one-sided Letter pages per minute in monochrome from 20 A4. Color is rated at up to 5 pages per minute on either size. Applying the faster black-and-white figure to a color packet would obscure a substantial practical difference.
These are manufacturer declarations, rather than measured throughput for a particular document. The brochure also distinguishes a 600 dpi Standard mode from a 1200 Enhanced mode. A mode name alone does not establish a tested quality advantage or the time needed for a complex graphic.
The 35,000-page monthly duty is a maximum. No recommended recurring monthly ceiling is established here, so it should not be converted into a promise to sustain that volume every month.
Use the actual driver and connection arrangement
This is a host-based printer with model-specific software. Its original documentation does not provide a native PostScript/PCL interpreter promise. A compatible Xerox driver matters for paper selection, duplex and other output controls.
DN's Ethernet interface enables its network management arrangement, including browser access to status and settings. That is different from proving native mobile protocols or compatibility with every present generic driver. The original Macintosh listing is USB only; it should not be borrowed to guarantee a Mac Ethernet installation.
Built-in Wi-Fi, native AirPrint, Mopria and computer PIN release are not established in the reviewed configuration. If one is essential, choose a separately confirmed arrangement instead of inferring it from the presence of a network port.
Envelope and supply routines remain specific to this model
Envelopes use the multipurpose tray, with up to ten suitable items within the stated limits. The original guide calls for flap-up loading, with the stamp end entering first. Select the multipurpose source, Envelope type and exact size in the compatible driver. That orientation differs from some neighboring Xerox models.
The printer has separate toner, imaging-unit, transfer-belt and waste-cartridge considerations. Its toner yield declarations use five-percent coverage of an A-sized page. The larger monochrome imaging and belt figures should not become the same expected yield for color work or a current ownership-cost estimate.
The installed body weighs 77.2 lb with consumables, and working space must include access beyond its closed dimensions. For compatible computer printing, included duplex and mostly Letter/A4 documents, DN has a clear documented role. Large Legal runs, native mobile printing or current software requirements call for a closer match.

Paper, software and setup details
Print-rate conditions
The original guide explicitly rates one-sided Letter output up to 21 monochrome pages/min and A4 up to 20; color is up to 5 pages/min for either. The brochure’s 21/5 headline must not turn into a 21-page color or A4 monochrome promise. The 35,000-page monthly duty is a maximum, with no established recommended monthly volume in the reviewed material. Standard 600 dpi and 1200 Enhanced/addressable mode are different declarations from measured quality and actual job throughput.
Paper handling
Included normal input is a 250-sheet main drawer plus a 100-sheet multipurpose tray, totaling 350 ordinary sheets at the original 75 gsm basis. The drawer accepts Letter and A4 only; Legal uses the 100-sheet multipurpose path. Accordingly, included capacity is 350 for Letter/A4 but 100 for Legal. The optional 500-sheet feeder is also Letter/A4 only, so an 850-sheet expansion headline cannot describe Legal. Automatic print duplex is standard and explicitly supports Letter, Legal and A4 on permitted 75–90 gsm paper. The appropriate input path still matters. Envelopes use the multipurpose tray only, with up to 10 suitable items within the stated weight/size rules. Follow the guide’s flap-up, stamp-end-first loading orientation and set MPT, Envelope and the exact size in the compatible driver. Do not transfer the 6120’s different flap-down routine.
Scanning arrangement
This is a print-only color laser printer, without an included computer scanner, copy glass, original feeder or fax function. A driver that prints an existing image is not document-capture hardware.
Computer and mobile connections
The exact DN adds standard 10/100Base-TX Ethernet and its network management functions to USB 2 and the historical parallel interface. BD has USB/parallel without the same network package, and the original reviewer guide says it cannot be upgraded into DN. Reviewed plans use compatible computer USB or Ethernet printing. The original Macintosh driver listing is USB only and does not establish a Mac Ethernet plan. Built-in Wi-Fi, native AirPrint, Mopria and an included PIN-release printing function remain unverified.
Supplies and declared yields
The original US brochure lists standard cyan 106R00676, magenta 106R00677 and yellow 106R00678 at up to 2,000 pages, with black 106R00679 at 3,000. High replacements are cyan 106R00680, magenta 106R00681 and yellow 106R00682 at 5,000, and black 106R00684 at 7,000. These approximate declarations use 5% coverage of an A-sized page, not an assigned ISO basis or verified supplied-cartridge yield. Waste cartridge 106R00683 is listed at up to 5,000; imaging unit 108R00593 and transfer belt 108R00594 at up to 50,000 monochrome or 12,500 color pages. Actual use matters. No current price, remaining life or ownership-cost estimate is asserted.
Software and support
This is a host-based printer with model-specific software; the original brochure does not specify a native PostScript/PCL interpreter. Install the actual compatible Xerox driver and match its paper source, size and type to the loaded stock. CentreWare browser management applies to DN’s Ethernet configuration, rather than proving that every modern generic driver or mobile protocol works. The reproduced original setup sheet and dated Windows/Macintosh lists do not guarantee current operating-system support. No computer PIN-hold plan is inferred from a generic security label.
Electrical edition and setup
The reviewed US/Canada brochure distinguishes 100–127 VAC and 200–240 VAC electrical editions. Check the actual label before using the North American edition. Body dimensions are 20 x 18.5 x 16 inches; the brochure distinguishes 70.5 lb without consumables from 77.2 lb with them, corroborated by the original service specification’s 35 kg installed basis. This record uses 77.2 lb, not packaging weight. Allow additional tray, output, door and service access; the optional drawer adds height. The dated 2004/2005 original material is an earlier-model reference, not a current offer, warranty or software-support claim.
