Phaser 6115MFP/NIllustrated overview
A useful fit for

A compatible USB computer setup needing occasional color pages and feeder scans, with manual two-sided output.

The main tradeoff

Automatic print duplex needs an optional unit, and network email scanning has an important authentication limitation.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can a USB setup print color Legal pages, scan Legal originals through the feeder, copy and fax with 200 included input sheets?

Yes, using compatible USB print and TWAIN scan software and a separately configured telephone line for the included fax. Legal fits the documented ordinary-paper tray and feeder range. This does not include automatic print duplex or automatic two-sided scanning.

Does the base N include automatic two-sided Letter printing?

No. The original exact configuration table lists the two-sided output unit as optional on N and standard on D. The base N plan cannot satisfy an automatic-duplex requirement by borrowing the neighboring D configuration.

Does Ethernet printing establish the same direct computer scanner workflow as USB TWAIN?

No. The original instructions distinguish USB application scanning from network scan to email. The latter needs a compatible SMTP server and has no email authentication support in the original Evaluator Guide; a direct Ethernet computer scanner route is not established here.

Useful color functions, with a connection decision first

The Xerox Phaser 6115MFP/N combines color laser printing, color scanning, copying and telephone fax. Its practical fit is a compatible USB computer setup that needs occasional color documents and a feeder for loose originals. Network printing is included, but the scanner workflow changes with the connection.

There are two important limits. The N configuration needs an optional unit for automatic two-sided printing. Network scanning sends email through a configured server, and the original Evaluator Guide explicitly excludes email authentication. Check those requirements before planning around this earlier machine.

The exact North American configuration identifies a 110 V N edition. Verify the physical rating label, driver compatibility and condition of the unit under consideration. These original specifications do not establish a current offer or remaining consumable life.

Separate color print speed from copy speed

The original User Guide declares up to 20 monochrome or five color Letter/A4 printed pages per minute. Black-and-white copying is separately rated at up to 12 copies per minute. A black document printed from a computer and a stack copied through the scanner therefore have different declared rates.

For a short color chart or handout, the included color engine is relevant. For long runs, consider the five-page color declaration and the time spent preparing, loading and retrieving the job. These are manufacturer figures rather than measured performance.

The 35,000-page duty figure is a maximum declaration. It does not establish an ordinary recommended monthly workload, so it should not be used to promise that a particular sustained office volume is suitable.

The included paper tray holds 200 sheets

Tray 1 accepts Letter, Legal and A4 ordinary paper within its stated size range. Its included capacity is 200 sheets. The often advertised 700-sheet total requires a separate 500-sheet feeder; that feeder has distinct Letter and A4 options and is not a Legal expansion drawer.

Adjust the guides for the loaded size and select the corresponding size and media type in a compatible driver. The stated 60–200 gsm Tray 1 range does not mean every special medium supports every other paper routine.

N does not include automatic two-sided output. A used example might have the accessory installed, but verify the hardware and driver configuration rather than treating the suffix as proof. The D configuration includes the duplex unit and is the more appropriate family alternative when that function is essential.

Use USB for the documented application scanner

USB scanning starts in a compatible application. Open its TWAIN import or scanner interface, choose the required settings and select Scan. A preview can help position a glass original, but the guide says the feeder cannot prescan.

Load loose originals face up in the feeder with the top edge entering first, and bring the guides against the stack. The included feeder is rated for 50 sheets and supports Letter, Legal and A4 within its documented range at 60–90 gsm.

For an individual original, lift the feeder cover and place it face down at the back-left corner of the glass. The glass is included, but its exact size limit is not established by the reviewed sections. Legal support in the feeder does not establish Legal on the glass.

Color scanning is supported. Automatic capture of both original sides and a single-pass mechanism remain unestablished; the optional print duplex unit does not prove either scanning function.

Network scanning needs an appropriate mail server

The network route sends a scanned attachment through SMTP, the mail-sending service. Setup includes the sender identity and address, server address, port and timeout. This is a separate workflow from importing a USB scan directly into an application.

The lack of email authentication support is a material compatibility issue. Have the person responsible for the mail system confirm an acceptable setup. A working Ethernet print queue alone does not establish that scanned mail will reach its recipient.

The original software bundle and operating-system examples are historical. Confirm that the actual computer can run the needed print and scan drivers. A printed confidentiality watermark also does not establish passcode-held printing, and native AirPrint or Mopria support is unestablished here.

Envelopes require a different preparation routine

Suitable envelopes use Tray 1, address side only, face up, with the Envelope media setting. The guide permits up to ten depending on thickness. Long-edge flaps face left; short-edge flaps enter first.

Follow the illustrated opening sequence and raise both green fuser separator levers before the envelope job. Avoid the transfer belt. After printing envelopes, restore the levers to their original lower position before ordinary paper work.

Fax uses its configured telephone connection. Toner and the imaging unit are separate consumables with different yield conditions; verify the exact US part numbers. Finally, allow substantial loading and cover access around the 73 lb N body. Its published inch and millimeter depth figures disagree, so measure the actual installation space.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

Original User Guide section 2-4 explicitly declares one-sided Letter/A4 printing up to 20 monochrome pages/min and 5 color. Copying is separately up to 12 monochrome and 5 color copies/min. These are maker declarations, not measured rates. The 35,000-page maximum duty is separate from a recommended monthly workload, which remains unestablished.

Paper handling

The N base configuration includes Tray 1 with 200 ordinary sheets. Its documented range includes Letter, Legal and A4; no specific capacity paper-weight basis was established in the reviewed configuration table. The extra 500-sheet feeder is optional and has different Letter and A4 ordering options. It is not a 500-sheet Legal drawer. Automatic print duplex is optional on N, standard on D; no optional hardware is counted here. Tray 1 supports stated media weights 60–200 gsm, which is not an automatic duplex range. Envelopes print address side only, face up in Tray 1, up to ten depending on thickness, with Envelope media selected. Long-edge flaps face left; short-edge flaps enter first. Follow the original illustrated opening sequence, avoid the transfer belt, raise both green fuser separator levers before the envelope job and restore them afterward. Envelopes are not for Tray 2 or automatic duplex.

Scanning arrangement

The included 50-sheet ADF accepts ordinary Letter, Legal and A4 originals within 140 x 148 to 216 x 356 mm, 60–90 gsm. The glass and color scanning are included, but a glass-specific size limit was not established from the reviewed original sections. Its positive USB computer route therefore has an explicit glass route with sizes unspecified. Automatic two-sided feeder scanning and a single-pass mechanism remain unestablished. The optional print duplex unit does not establish those scanner functions.

Computer and mobile connections

Included USB 2.0 and 10/100 Ethernet computer printing use compatible host-based drivers. Direct computer scanning is documented via USB TWAIN/WIA. In the scanning application start the TWAIN driver, select settings and Scan; Prescan is available for glass previews but not the ADF. Load loose feeder originals face up, top edge first; the glass original lies face down at the back-left corner. Network scanning is a separate scan-to-email workflow using a configured SMTP server, sender address, port and timeout. The original Evaluator Guide explicitly says email authentication is not supported. Current server acceptance and software compatibility need checking; the network-print plan does not borrow USB application scanning. Built-in Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct and native AirPrint/Mopria paths remain unestablished.

Supplies and declared yields

The exact North American sheet and US Evaluator Guide list standard cyan 113R00689, magenta 113R00691 and yellow 113R00690 at 1,500 pages, and high black 113R00692, cyan 113R00693, magenta 113R00695 and yellow 113R00694 at 4,500, under their ISO/IEC 19798 declaration. The earlier 2007 brochure instead describes a 5% coverage basis; those declarations are not silently equated. Imaging unit 108R00691 has approximate 20,000 black or 10,000 color pages under a three-page Letter/A4 average-job basis, separately from toner. Supplied starter quantity, remaining life and current price per page are unestablished.

Software and support

Original driver examples cover older Windows and Mac systems; a historic OS list is not a current compatibility promise. Xerox Scan to PC Desktop Personal Edition is listed as a one-seat bundle. MFP ControlCentre is a Windows USB configuration/address-book utility. A printed CONFIDENTIAL watermark is not evidence of PIN-held job release; that function remains unestablished.

Electrical edition and setup

The original January 2009 North American configuration sheet explicitly identifies Phaser 6115MFP/N as 110 V. Verify the actual unit rating label; the family has separate voltage editions. Embedded 33.6 kbps fax uses its configured telephone line, separately from the computer cable. The N body is stated as 20.8 inches wide, 20.9 high and 73 lb; D is 78 lb. Printed depth 22.7 inches conflicts with 583 mm in the same table, so a precise depth matching value is withheld. Allow loading, open-cover, scanner-lift, ventilation and cable space. This is an earlier hardware reference based on original 2007/2009 material, without a current stock claim.
