Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can the standard N print Legal color over Ethernet with at least 500 included sheets?
Yes. Both included sources support ordinary Legal paper: a 500-sheet main tray plus 100-sheet MPT provide 600 nominal sheets. Use a compatible computer driver, configured network and matching paper settings; a precise paper-weight basis for that capacity is unestablished.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the standard USB-connected N automatically print both sides of Letter sheets?
No. The original configuration table leaves automatic duplex optional on N and includes it on DP. The documented odd-page, reinsertion and even-page procedure is manual two-sided work.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the N include numeric PIN release because its base memory is 256 MB?
No. The documented Secure Print routine requires the optional internal hard drive as well as a compatible driver and panel release. Base memory alone does not establish that disk-backed workflow.
Explore this need in the finder →Keep the N configuration distinct from the duplex models
The Xerox Phaser 6250N offers wired color printing with a useful split between a large everyday tray and a smaller multipurpose source. The US configuration includes a 500-sheet main tray and 100-sheet MPT, giving 600 nominal sheets. USB 2.0 and 10/100 Ethernet support documented compatible computer printing.
The N does not include automatic print duplex. That distinction matters more than a general family feature list: the original table includes automatic two-sided output on DP, DT and DX while listing an upgrade for N. A used N needs its actual installed options checked before being treated as an automatic duplex machine.
Use the standard sources for ordinary documents
Letter, Legal and A4 ordinary paper are supported in both standard sources. Their nominal combined capacity is useful when a shared office wants a substantial everyday supply without an added feeder. A precise paper-weight basis for the 600-sheet declaration is unestablished, so respect the tray fill limits as stock thickness changes.
The paper guide separates plain paper at 64–90 gsm from heavy plain at 85–130 gsm, with further categories for other media. Permission to feed a material does not mean it can use every source or a second-side routine. Match the physical stock to the panel type and the selected driver source.
An extra 500-sheet feeder and a 1,000-sheet feeder assembly are options. They are not included on this N, and the original tour says those assemblies cannot be stacked with one another. A family photograph or maximum-input figure should not replace an inspection of the actual drawers.
Manual two-sided work needs a deliberate reload
The manual gives separate routines for the MPT and main tray. With the MPT, print the odd-numbered pages with the printable face down and the top entering first. Reinsert that printed stack with side one facing up and the top toward the back of the MPT, then print the even-numbered pages from the same source.
The main-tray procedure starts with the printable face up and the top toward the front. Reinsert with the printed side down and the top still toward the front, then select that tray for the even pages. These orientations are different; a small trial job can establish the application's page order before a long run.
Follow the original stock and coverage guidance for manual second sides. This process requires the operator to handle the stack and does not supply an automatic duplex rate or unattended two-sided output.
Reserve the MPT for supported envelope jobs
The envelope instructions specify the MPT, no more than ten at once, with the printable side down and flap to the right when facing the printer. Use suitable laser paper envelopes without windows or metal clasps, and choose the matching envelope size, type and MPT source.
Envelope output is one-sided. The main tray's ability to hold Legal paper does not make it the documented envelope path, and a booklet setting does not authorize sending envelopes through an optional duplex unit.
Check software and disk-backed job features separately
The N includes 256 MB memory and documents USB, 10/100 Ethernet and a legacy parallel interface. Use a driver appropriate to the computer and correct network addressing. The historical driver and remote-printing descriptions do not establish native AirPrint or Mopria, or current operating-system compatibility.
Secure, Proof and Saved printing require the optional internal hard drive. The documented protected workflow uses a four-digit numeric password in the driver and release at the printer panel; the secure job is removed after printing. Other disk-held jobs can survive power-off. This is a different arrangement from a volatile RAM disk or an administration password.
The machine is print-only. Its single-pass catalog wording describes the color print engine, with no scanner, document feeder, copying or fax hardware supplied.
Keep speed, workload and supplies on their own terms
The original manual declares up to 26 Letter pages per minute in color or black-and-white, versus 24 A4. Those are manufacturer one-sided declarations, not measured results or duplex rates. The separate 100,000-page duty declaration does not establish a recommended monthly workload.
The 2005 US supply list declares standard black and each color at 4,000 pages, or high-capacity black and each color at 8,000, using approximately 5% coverage on an A-size page. This is not an ISO/IEC 19798 declaration or proof of supplied-cartridge yield. Imaging, transfer and voltage-specific fuser items are separate maintenance considerations.
The original US part list identifies this N as 110 V. Verify the machine label, software and physical condition, and leave working room for trays, output and service covers. Exact US N body dimensions remain unestablished in the read sections, so measure the actual unit for a tight installation.

Paper, software and setup details
Print-rate conditions
The original manual declares up to 26 Letter pages/min versus 24 A4, in color or black-and-white as confirmed by the US configuration table. The figures are maker one-sided declarations, not measured or ISO/IEC 24734 speed results, and not duplex rates. Recommended monthly volume is unestablished; the separate 100,000-page maximum-duty declaration is not used as an ordinary workload recommendation.
Paper handling
Included input is a 500-sheet main Tray 2 plus 100-sheet MPT, nominally 600 sheets; a precise paper-weight basis for that count is unestablished. Ordinary Letter, Legal and A4 are supported in both standard routes. The supported-paper table distinguishes plain 64–90 gsm from heavy plain 85–130 gsm, with separate special-media restrictions. Extra 500-sheet or 1,000-sheet feeder assemblies are optional and are not stackable with one another. Supported envelopes use only the MPT, one-sided, no more than ten at a time, printable face down with the flap to the right when viewed from the front. Use laser-suitable paper envelopes without windows or metal clasps and match the panel and driver settings.
Scanning arrangement
This is a print-only color laser without a scanner, original feeder, copying or fax. The single-pass wording in the old catalog describes its color print engine and does not establish any single-pass document scanning.
Computer and mobile connections
N and DP include USB 2.0 Type B, Ethernet 10/100Base-TX and a legacy parallel port. Compatible computer software and correct addressing are required for the selected route. Ethernet is not gigabit or a wireless radio. CentreWare IS is the documented browser management route. Native AirPrint and Mopria arrangements are unestablished in the read sources; do not treat old remote/email printing or a Mac driver as a current mobile protocol. Verify actual OS and firmware compatibility.
Supplies and declared yields
US standard black/cyan/magenta/yellow toner replacements 106R00671/668/669/670 are each declared at 4,000 pages; high black/cyan/magenta/yellow 106R00675/672/673/674 are each declared at 8,000. The 2005 US sheet states approximately 5% coverage on an A-size page, not ISO/IEC 19798. Actual yield varies with usage. Supplied cartridge yield is unestablished, and a separately listed Supplies Startup Kit is not proof of its inclusion. Imaging unit 108R00591, transfer roller 108R00592 and the voltage-specific fuser are separate maintenance items. No current costs, stock, promotion or service coverage are promised.
Software and support
N and DP both have 256 MB standard memory and no included hard drive. Secure, Proof and Saved printing require the optional internal hard drive; the 6250 protected-job routine is not the RAM-disk arrangement of some later models. The documented Secure Print workflow uses a four-digit numeric password and panel release, with the secure job deleted after printing. Other disk-held jobs can survive power-off. An administrator password is separate. Original driver menus include features requiring options, so a visible menu alone does not establish installed hardware.
Electrical edition and setup
Earlier US 6250N configuration, identified as 110 V by the original US part list. Verify the actual mains label and installed options. Exact US N body measurements and their weight basis are unestablished in the read original sections. Allow access to the front paper sources, output area and service covers. The N needs a duplex upgrade for automatic two-sided output; a driver menu alone does not establish installation.
