Phaser 6300DNIllustrated overview
A useful fit for

Compatible wired offices making ordinary two-sided Letter, Legal or A4 reports while keeping scanning on a separate device.

The main tradeoff

The hard drive for protected stored jobs and extra feeders are optional; recommended monthly volume and native mobile arrangements are unestablished.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can the standard DN print two-sided Legal color over Ethernet with at least 600 included sheets?

Yes. DN includes automatic duplex and both standard sources support ordinary Legal paper, giving 700 nominal sheets together. Use supported duplex stock within 65–163 gsm and the appropriate driver, tray, type and binding settings.

Does a standard USB setup include four-digit PIN-held printing?

No. The documented Secure Print routine needs the optional internal hard drive. The DN includes 256 MB memory and duplex hardware, which do not supply that disk-backed protected workflow.

Can its 100,000-page duty declaration satisfy a 5,000-page recommended monthly workload?

No. The recommended monthly maximum is unestablished in the read sources. Maximum duty is a separate declaration and does not qualify the selected ordinary recommended workload.

A standard duplex color configuration for compatible wired offices

The Xerox Phaser 6300DN combines automatic two-sided color printing with a 550-sheet main tray and 150-sheet multipurpose tray. That gives 700 nominal sheets without an extra feeder. The documented computer routes are USB 2.0 and 10/100 Ethernet, making it an older reference for offices with suitable software and separate scanning equipment.

DN includes the duplex hardware that the 6300N omits. It does not include the internal hard drive required for protected stored jobs, or the extra drawers shown on larger 6350 configurations. Checking those separate conditions is more useful than treating every feature in the family brochure as standard equipment.

Keep the included paper supply separate from maximum capacity

Both standard sources support ordinary Letter, Legal and A4. The nominal 700-sheet count has no precise gsm basis established in the read configuration table, so tray fill limits still control the physical load. Thickness and media category can reduce the usable stack.

The MPT's general range is 65–216 gsm, while the main tray supports 65–163 gsm. Automatic two-sided output has its own 65–163 gsm range on supported paper. The manual excludes envelopes, labels, transparencies, die-cut materials and thick card from that automatic route.

Additional 550-sheet and 1,100-sheet feeder assemblies are options on DN. The 2,350-sheet maximum is an expanded arrangement rather than the included supply. Inspect a particular machine's drawers before planning capacity around an illustration or a maximum figure.

Set loading, paper type and binding together

For preprinted stock used in automatic duplex, the MPT instructions place the first side face up with the bottom entering first. The main-tray instructions place the first side with odd-numbered pages face down and the top toward the back. Those loading directions differ from their corresponding one-sided routines.

Set the panel paper type to match the stock, then select the intended source and automatic two-sided setting in the compatible driver. Choose a long- or short-edge binding appropriate to portrait or landscape orientation. A short trial document can confirm the reading direction before sending a large batch.

The documented manual-feed prompt can reserve a special MPT load for a particular job. That can help keep letterhead separate from the ordinary shared supply, provided the user follows the panel prompt and matching software settings.

Envelope orientation changes with the format

The original guide permits envelopes only through the MPT, no more than ten at once. Number 10 Commercial, C5 and B5 load flap up with the top toward the printer's left. Monarch, A7, DL and C6 instead load flap up with the bottom entering first.

Select the corresponding envelope type and size at the panel and appropriate source or type in the driver. Use suitable laser paper envelopes that lie flat, avoiding windows, metal clasps and padding. Envelope work is one-sided even though the DN includes automatic duplex for supported ordinary paper.

Confirm the computer path and protected-job upgrade

USB uses a conventional A/B cable and suitable computer driver. Ethernet requires correct addressing and offers the documented CentreWare Internet Services browser management interface. Networking hardware and cables are not generally supplied; 10/100 Ethernet is neither gigabit nor a wireless radio.

The historical Mac and Windows software lists do not establish current driver availability or native AirPrint and Mopria. Confirm the actual computer or mobile workflow before relying on an older installation guide.

The standard DN has 256 MB memory but no internal hard drive. Secure, Personal, Proof and Saved printing require the optional disk. Secure Print uses a four-digit numeric password and panel release with a Print and Delete action. Other disk-held jobs can persist through power-off. A user-name list or an administration password is a separate feature.

Compare the original declarations with their conditions intact

The US configuration table quotes up to 26 color and 36 monochrome pages per minute without identifying paper size. The regional brochure quotes 25 and 35. Neither should become an established one-sided Letter figure without its precise basis, and neither is a measured or duplex result. Recommended monthly volume remains unestablished; 100,000 pages is a separate maximum-duty declaration.

US replacement toner declarations are 4,000 pages for standard black and each color, or 7,000 for the 6300 high-capacity versions, using approximately 5% coverage on an A-size page. The regional brochure instead uses A4 coverage. These are not supplied-cartridge yields or ISO/IEC 19798 results, and the 6350's 10,000-page high-capacity listings should not be substituted.

The US part list identifies 6300/DN as 110 V. Check the machine label and physical condition, allow working space for trays and covers, and measure the actual body for a tight location. The official End of Support list includes this family; an authenticated old operating guide does not promise current manufacturer service.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

The exact US configuration table declares up to 26 color and 36 monochrome pages/min without labeling paper size. The regional brochure instead quotes 25 color and 35 monochrome. Exact one-sided Letter fields remain unestablished in these read declarations; no A4 conversion or measured/ISO speed is claimed. The 100,000-page maximum duty figure is not a recommended monthly volume, which is unestablished.

Paper handling

DN includes a 150-sheet MPT and 550-sheet main tray, nominally 700 sheets; a precise gsm basis for the capacity count is unestablished. Both sources support ordinary Letter, Legal and A4. General media ranges are 65–216 gsm through MPT and 65–163 through main; automatic duplex is 65–163 on supported ordinary stock. The guide excludes envelopes, labels, transparencies, die-cut media and thick card from automatic duplex. Additional 550- and 1,100-sheet feeders are optional. Envelope jobs use only MPT, one-sided, no more than ten, with flap up and the format-specific orientation in the manual.

Scanning arrangement

The DN is a print-only color laser without a scanner, original feeder, copying or fax. Single-pass color-engine wording describes printing, not duplex original scanning. Output duplex and blank-paper feeders do not supply original capture.

Computer and mobile connections

Standard USB 2.0 Type B and wired 10/100Base-TX Ethernet support compatible computer printing with correct Xerox software and network addressing. USB uses an A/B cable; cables and networking hardware are not generally included. Ethernet is not gigabit or built-in wireless. CentreWare Internet Services is documented for browser management. Native AirPrint and Mopria arrangements are unestablished. Verify actual current OS and firmware compatibility before relying on historical driver lists.

Supplies and declared yields

The US sheet lists standard cyan/magenta/yellow/black 106R01073/074/075/076 at 4,000 declared pages each and 6300 high versions 106R01082/083/084/085 at 7,000 each. It uses approximately 5% coverage on an A-size page; the regional brochure uses an A4 coverage basis instead. Neither declaration is an ISO/IEC 19798 result or a promise of actual yield. Supplied cartridge yield is unestablished. The 6350 high-capacity 10,000-page cartridges are listed for 6350 only. Imaging unit, transfer roller and voltage-specific fuser are separate maintenance items; no current costs or old service entitlement are promised.

Software and support

The standard 6300DN has 256 MB memory and no included hard drive. Secure, Personal, Proof and Saved printing require the optional internal disk/Productivity Kit. Secure Print uses a four-digit numeric job password and panel release with Print and Delete; disk-held jobs can remain through power-off. Personal Print user-name selection and administrator passwords are different from a protected PIN job. A driver feature menu alone does not establish the required disk.

Electrical edition and setup

Earlier US 6300DN reference: the original US configuration sheet identifies 6300/DN as 110 V; verify the actual mains label. The regional exact DN body declaration is 429 mm wide, 580 mm deep and 457 mm high at 35 kg, with no explicit consumable-weight basis. Exact US body figures remain unestablished in the read US sheet, so numeric fit fields are left unknown. Measure the actual unit and allow extra paper, output, ventilation and service access.
