Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can an infrastructure Wi-Fi computer combine Legal color duplex, 300-sheet input and passcode release?
Yes, with the compatible driver and ordinary-paper conditions. The DNI includes the wireless adapter, the automatic duplex range covers Legal, and Secure Print uses a driver passcode released at the button panel.
Explore this need in the finder →Can I use basic Wi-Fi Direct printing without integrated scanning?
Yes. The included adapter supports the separately enabled Wi-Fi Direct peer route for compatible printing. This basic route does not promise every desktop driver paper, duplex or passcode control. The printer itself has no scanner.
Explore this need in the finder →Can the wireless DNI scan both sides of an original to my computer?
No. Wireless is a computer connection, not a scanner upgrade. The Phaser 6510 is print-only and has no glass or document feeder.

The Xerox Phaser 6510/DNI is an earlier color LED printer with automatic ordinary-paper duplex and an included wireless network adapter. It fits a compatible office printing routine that needs infrastructure Wi-Fi while keeping scanning, copying and fax at another device.
The included adapter is the practical difference from the wired DN. The N also differs because it requires manual sheet turning. The DNI combines wireless and automatic duplex, but does not include the optional additional paper drawer. Xerox's US page says the family is no longer sold as new, so inspect the actual unit and verify its electrical edition and available drivers.
Pick the network arrangement deliberately
Infrastructure Wi-Fi joins the printer to an appropriate office router or access point. USB Type B provides a direct computer cable connection, while gigabit Ethernet connects through a network switch or router. The guide describes infrastructure wireless as providing the same network services as the wired connection, subject to its configuration.
Wi-Fi Direct is a separate peer connection, disabled by default. Enable it and follow the compatible device's connection instructions when that basic route is appropriate. A direct connection does not, by itself, establish every advanced desktop driver control in a mobile app.
AirPrint and Mopria support basic shared-network printing with suitable devices. AirPrint needs IPP and Bonjour enabled and the appropriate subnet discovery. The printer may use Ethernet or infrastructure Wi-Fi while the mobile device joins the same suitable network. Check app settings independently when the exact paper size, duplex layout or protected-job function matters.
Use ordinary duplex within its size and stock limits
The included main tray holds 250 sheets and the bypass 50, totaling 300 ordinary sheets on the detailed specification's 20 lb/75 gsm basis. Both accept Letter, A4 and Legal, and the automatic duplex range covers those ordinary sizes. Select the appropriate paper type and size in the driver as well as at the printer.
Plain duplex stock is listed at 75–105 gsm, with separately specified lightweight card stock through 176 gsm. Envelopes and labels follow different one-sided routines. The ability to feed a particular sheet does not make that sheet suitable for automatic turning.
Envelopes can use Tray 1 or the bypass, with a maximum of five envelopes in the bypass. Number 10 envelopes enter short edge first with flaps down and to the right. Other formats have their own orientation choices. The optional 550-sheet drawer raises total ordinary input to 850 only when installed.
Protected printing uses the computer driver and button panel
Secure Print starts by choosing that job type in a compatible Xerox computer driver. Enter and confirm a passcode, select the remaining print settings and send the document. At the printer, press Print Menu, select Personal & Secure and the user name, then enter the code with the arrow buttons.
Select the intended job and choose Print or Delete. This is the Phaser's two-line button display, not the neighboring WorkCentre's touchscreen. Personal Print does not use a passcode, so a stored or waiting job is not automatically the protected routine.
The wireless adapter changes the connection choices. It does not add a document glass, feeder, standalone copying, computer scanning or native fax. The WorkCentre 6515 in the shared brochure is a separate multifunction model.
Assess workload, maintenance and physical access together
The maker declares up to 30 one-sided Letter pages per minute in color or monochrome. A4 and automatic-duplex figures are separate. The regional detailed sheet recommends up to 3,000 regular monthly pages, while the surviving US page shows a different 4,000-page summary. The 50,000-page maximum duty rating is a separate ceiling.
The detailed box list declares included toner at 1,500 black and 1,000 pages per color under ISO/IEC 19798. Replacement capacities differ, and four drum cartridges plus a waste cartridge have separate service lives. Confirm compatible regional supplies and the installed unit's condition rather than estimating current page cost from cartridge yield alone.
The DNI-specific body is about 16.5 inches wide, 19.6 deep and 13.7 high at 52.5 pounds, without the extra drawer. Its depth differs from the DN/N table. Leave additional space for covers, output and the protruding Legal tray extension. Choose a supported MFP for originals or a configuration with more included input when those needs control the decision.

Paper, software and setup details
Print-rate conditions
Maker-declared one-sided print speed is up to 30 Letter pages/min for color or monochrome. The US brochure lists 28 A4 pages/min, while the guide gives 28.6; A4 figures and separate duplex images/pages rates are not substituted for Letter speed. The regional detailed sheet recommends up to 3,000 regular monthly pages; the US legacy page shows a different 4K summary. The conservative detailed recommendation is retained separately from 50,000 maximum duty.
Paper handling
Included ordinary input is 250 sheets in Tray 1 plus 50 in the bypass, totaling 300 on 20 lb / 75 gsm stock. Both sources accept Letter, Legal and A4; the automatic duplex range also covers those sizes. Plain duplex stock is 75–105 gsm, with separately listed media through 176 gsm. The optional 550-sheet drawer raises maximum input to 850. Envelopes use Tray 1 or bypass as a separate one-sided routine; bypass limit is five envelopes. Legal tray extension protrudes.
Scanning arrangement
The Phaser 6510 is a color print-only printer. It has no scanner, glass, feeder, copying or native fax. The WorkCentre 6515’s document hardware and generic app descriptions do not establish capture functions on this Phaser.
Computer and mobile connections
The DNI includes USB Type B, gigabit Ethernet and the wireless network adapter for infrastructure Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi Direct. Infrastructure Wi-Fi provides the documented network services; Direct is a separately enabled peer connection. Basic AirPrint/Mopria shared-network plans remain separate from compatible desktop driver paper, duplex and PIN controls. No complete advanced peer-driver combination is inferred.
Supplies and declared yields
The detailed box list declares included black toner at 1,500 and each color at 1,000 average standard pages under ISO/IEC 19798. Replacement capacities are black 2,500/5,500 and color 1,000/2,400/4,300. US part numbers include black 106R03476/106R03480, standard CMY 106R03473–106R03475, high CMY 106R03477–106R03479 and extra-high CMY 106R03690–106R03692; confirm regional compatibility. Four separate drums have approximate 48,000-page declarations and waste cartridge 108R01416 has 30,000, with the US brochure’s average three-page A4/Letter job basis. These are maker declarations, not current page-cost estimates.
Software and support
Compatible Xerox drivers provide job-type controls. Secure Print sets a passcode on the computer, then requires Print Menu > Personal & Secure, user selection and passcode entry using the printer arrow buttons before release. Personal Print explicitly has no passcode. The two-line button display is different from the WorkCentre touchscreen. No exact passcode length or optional storage requirement is invented; verify current drivers for the intended operating system.
Electrical edition and setup
Earlier US DNI configuration; Xerox says the family is no longer sold as new. The specific DNI body is 16.5 in wide, 19.6 deep and 13.7 high at 52.5 lb without the optional drawer. The guide rounds weight to 53 lb. DN/N variant tables have a smaller 19 in depth, so their depth should not replace the DNI measurement. Allow extended-tray and cover access. Separate 120 V and 220–240 V electrical classes are listed; verify the actual unit label.
