A useful fit for

A compatible wired computer workflow needing A3 or Tabloid color documents, standard two-sided output and passcode-held jobs.

The main tradeoff

The body is large and heavy, higher-capacity feeders and full PhaserMatch are options, and native mobile protocols remain unverified.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can the base Ethernet DN print two-sided color A3, hold jobs by PIN and provide at least 600 included sheets?

Yes with its compatible PostScript driver and supported duplex stock. Both included inputs accept A3, totaling 650 ordinary sheets; the guide provides automatic-duplex procedures for MPT and drawers. The internal hard drive is standard and supports four-digit Secure Print. Optional extra feeders are not counted.

Does the 150,000-page duty specification establish suitability for a recurring 10,000-page monthly requirement?

The reviewed material does not establish that recommended recurring volume. Its 150,000-page value is a maximum duty, and no separate recommended monthly range is confirmed. A selected workload requirement needs that recommendation rather than a substitution from the duty headline.

Can it also scan color Legal originals from a feeder while serving the same computer?

No. It is a print-only model without document-capture glass or an original feeder. Color printing, calibration targets and network management do not add scanner hardware. A multifunction alternative is needed for this capture routine.

DN supplies the core wired large-format workflow

The Xerox Phaser 7760DN is an earlier print-only color laser printer for compatible computer workflows that need A3 or Tabloid output. Its base package includes automatic two-sided printing, USB, Gigabit Ethernet and an internal hard drive for held jobs.

It is also a substantial machine: the original base specification is 202 lb. Its suitability depends on the actual paper, software and available space, rather than the largest capacity or finishing arrangement shown in family advertising.

Start with the two included inputs

DN provides a 150-sheet multipurpose Tray 1 and a 500-sheet Tray 2, totaling 650 ordinary sheets. Both explicitly support Letter, Legal, A4, A3 and Tabloid. The multipurpose path additionally supports larger formats and certain banner jobs.

Automatic duplex is standard, and the guide gives loading procedures for both the multipurpose tray and drawers. Use the specified 75–169 gsm stock and permitted types, and observe the 17-inch maximum paper length for automatic duplex. A longer banner or 12 x 18-inch sheet cannot borrow that two-sided capability simply because it fits the printer in another mode.

For preprinted paper, the correct facing and leading edge depend on the tray and feed direction. Set the loaded size, media type, source and binding choice in the compatible driver. These details matter more than assuming that every large sheet follows the same route.

Expansion and color software depend on configuration

The 1,500- and 2,500-sheet high-capacity feeders are optional on DN, while GX and DX include their respective expanded arrangements. Their trays also have different size limits. The two large Letter/A4 trays in the 2,500-sheet arrangement should not become equivalent capacity for A3.

A finisher is another option. The original guide says adding one to DN also requires one of the high-capacity feeders. A pictured stapling or booklet tower therefore describes a larger installation, with additional space and hardware, rather than an included DN feature.

DN includes PhaserCal calibration software and the built-in TekColor correction choices. Full PhaserMatch 4.0 is optional on DN and standard in the expanded GX/DX packages. Those controls are documented tools, not evidence of a measured color-accuracy advantage.

Use the driver and held-job procedure deliberately

The included hard drive supports Secure Print. A compatible PostScript driver assigns a four-digit numeric password; the panel's Walk-Up Features and Secure Print Jobs menus release the selected job. The Print and Delete action removes it after printing.

Personal Print is a separate feature and should not be treated as the same password-protected release routine. Original driver procedures describe specific Windows and Macintosh arrangements. For optional PhaserMatch on the original Mac workflow, the guide specifically calls for LPD/LPR rather than any available connection.

USB and Ethernet printing do not establish native AirPrint, Mopria or an included wireless radio. Verify the software actually needed for a present installation. This is also a print-only machine: a color-calibration instrument does not give it a document scanner, copy glass or original feeder.

Compare the selected mode and the actual maintenance needs

The original advanced guide gives maximum Letter/A4 rates of 35 color and 45 monochrome pages per minute. The evaluator distinguishes Standard mode from Enhanced mode, whose declared rate is lower. These figures are not measured throughput for a particular large-format or two-sided job.

The 150,000-page monthly duty is a maximum, with no verified recommended recurring range here. Toner declarations use five-percent coverage of an A-sized page, which should not become expected life for dense A3 graphics. Imaging, transfer, waste and fuser maintenance remain separate considerations.

Envelopes use the multipurpose tray only, with the printable face down and flap up entering first. Match their actual type and size, and keep them out of automatic duplex. For a supported wired large-format print workflow, DN provides a clear base package; document capture, native mobile access or expanded finishing needs a separately confirmed solution.

Paper, software and setup details

Print-rate conditions

The original Advanced Features Guide explicitly gives maximum Letter/A4 rates of 35 color or 45 monochrome pages/min. The Evaluator Guide associates full rated speed with Standard 600 x 1200 dpi mode; Enhanced 1200 x 1200 dpi is separately up to 22 pages/min in either color or monochrome, while Photo mode has another declaration. These are manufacturer ratings, not measured job throughput, two-sided speed or a universal large-format rate. The 150,000-page monthly duty is a maximum, with no established recommended recurring monthly range in the reviewed material.

Paper handling

DN includes a 150-sheet multipurpose Tray 1 and 500-sheet Tray 2, totaling 650 ordinary sheets. The exact paper tables list Letter, Legal, A4, A3 and Tabloid for both included inputs. Paper construction, weight and fill limits affect actual capacity; the ordinary-sheet headline is not an envelope or heavy-card capacity. Tray 1 additionally handles larger 12 x 18-inch and supported banner work, while Tray 2 stops at the stated 17-inch length. Automatic duplex is standard and the guide gives both MPT and drawer procedures, with paper length 148–432 mm and supported 75–169 gsm types. The five ordinary sizes fit those documented routes; longer banners and 12 x 18-inch sheets must not borrow the duplex capability. Extra 1,500- or 2,500-sheet feeders and finishers are optional on DN. Suitable envelopes use MPT only, one-sided, print face down with the flap up and entering first; match panel and driver Envelope type, exact size and source.

Scanning arrangement

This is a print-only color laser printer. It has no included document scanner, copy glass, original feeder or fax. A spectrophotometer used in the color-calibration workflow measures printed targets; that does not make the printer a document scanner.

Computer and mobile connections

USB 2 computer printing and Gigabit Ethernet are standard. Compatible computer plans retain the actual driver and media settings. Native AirPrint, Mopria and an included Wi-Fi radio are unverified; Ethernet or the old walk-up Windows driver is not proof of a native mobile protocol. The original Macintosh guide supports USB and network arrangements, but specifically requires LPD/LPR for PhaserMatch corrections if that optional software is used. A normal USB printing plan does not promise the separately constrained PhaserMatch workflow.

Supplies and declared yields

The US Evaluator Guide lists black 106R01163 at up to 32,000 pages and cyan 106R01160, magenta 106R01161 and yellow 106R01162 at up to 25,000 each, on approximate 5% coverage of an A-sized page. These replacement declarations are not a verified supplied-cartridge yield, an ISO test assignment or expected life for dense large-format graphics. Imaging unit 108R00713 is listed up to 35,000, waste cartridge 108R00575 up to 27,000 and transfer roller 108R00579 up to 100,000 pages, with usage affecting life. The voltage-specific fuser and belt cleaner are separate maintenance items. No current price, remaining life or ownership-cost claim is made.

Software and support

All configurations include an internal hard drive. Secure Print in the compatible PostScript driver uses a four-digit numeric password, with release under Walk-Up Features and Secure Print Jobs; Print and Delete removes the job after output. Personal Print is a different job type and does not give the same passcode condition. DN includes PhaserCal calibration software and built-in TekColor corrections. The full PhaserMatch 4.0 package is optional on DN and standard on GX/DX. Its profile controls are documented features, not an independently tested color-accuracy result. Verify actual current driver and software compatibility rather than treating the old operating-system list as a guarantee.

Electrical edition and setup

The original table gives the base body 25.4 inches wide, 28.5 deep and 19.4 high, weighing 202 lb. Extra feeders and finishers add their own height, footprint and weight; none is included in those body figures. Leave additional loading, output, door and service clearance. The original electrical specification distinguishes 110–127 VAC/60 Hz from 220–240 VAC/50 Hz editions; check the actual label. The original US guide separately lists US and Canadian service part numbers. This is an earlier 2006 model reference using a March 2011 evaluator update, not a current offer, warranty or software-service promise.
