Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can Ethernet combine Tabloid color duplex, PIN release and 600 included sheets for 20,000-page months?
Yes. DN includes automatic duplex, a standard hard drive and 620 ordinary sheets at 20 lb/75 gsm. Tabloid fits both input sources and the 75–256 gsm duplex range. Secure Print uses a compatible driver and 4–10 digit release code; 20,000 is within the explicit 30,000-page recommended ceiling.
Explore this need in the finder →Can USB provide automatic A3 color duplex and a declared 45 ppm one-sided Letter rate?
Yes. A3 is documented in the ordinary input and duplex ranges, and the US table explicitly declares 45 one-sided Letter pages/min in color or monochrome. That Letter rating is separate from the larger-paper and two-sided rates; verify the compatible driver.
Explore this need in the finder →Can DN supply 2,000 included ordinary Legal sheets without an added paper module?
No. DN includes only 620 ordinary sheets. GX includes a different three-tray module and 2,180 total sheets; DN cannot inherit that equipment from the family specifications or a photograph.

The Xerox Phaser 7800DN is a print-only color LED printer with automatic duplex, a standard hard drive and wired computer connections. Its 100-sheet Tray 1 and 520-sheet main tray provide 620 ordinary sheets, supporting Letter, Legal, A4, A3 and Tabloid. It suits a workflow that needs larger color documents and confidential-job release without the taller GX paper module.
The deciding limits are configuration and media path. DN does not include the GX's three extra drawers or PhaserMatch measurement package. Wireless, finishers and the Extra Heavy Duty Media Kit are also separate options. The color touchscreen does not add scanning, copying or fax.
Separate ordinary duplex from the heaviest media
Standard automatic two-sided printing supports ordinary sheets within 128 by 140 mm through 322 by 457 mm and 75–256 gsm. Letter, Legal, A4, A3 and Tabloid fit that documented range. Match size, stock type and binding in a compatible driver before printing.
Tray 1 handles single-sided media up to 350 gsm, but that maximum does not apply to duplex. Automatic two-sided printing on 257–300 gsm stock requires the optional Extra Heavy Duty Media Kit and Tray 1. The main paper drawer has its own 75–256 gsm limit.
Envelopes use Tray 1 and print on one side. The guide specifies paper envelopes and excludes windows, metal clasps, padding, heat-activated glue and press-and-seal flaps. For the documented formats up to 320 mm, load closed flaps facing down, long edge first with flaps leading, then select Envelope in the driver. Do not extend that instruction to an unverified format.
Check the installed input and finishing hardware
The 620-sheet input declaration uses 20-pound, 75 gsm stock. A different weight or specialty medium changes the practical stack allowance. Both included sources support the five ordinary sizes above, while longer banners depend on Tray 1 rather than the main drawer.
Additional paper modules are optional on DN. Office and Professional finishers also require a suitable tray module, so adding stapling or booklet hardware is more involved than checking a driver box. The normal assessment here covers the included printer configuration; verify every actual accessory in an older listing.
Use the hard drive for the documented confidential-job routine
Unlike earlier Phaser models that need an optional Productivity Kit, the 7800 specification includes at least a 160 GB hard drive and 2 GB memory. Secure Print is a documented computer-driver job type with a four-to-ten-digit passcode.
At the touchscreen, touch Jobs, Personal and Secure Jobs and the assigned private folder. Enter the same code, select the job and touch Print. The guide says the job is deleted from the hard drive after printing. Sample Set and Saved Job have different retention and release behavior, so select the job type that matches the task.
Verify that the actual machine's drive and compatible driver work correctly. General network security and disk-overwrite settings serve different purposes from the operator's release passcode.
Connect a computer without assuming a mobile service
USB 2.0 provides a direct computer connection. Included Gigabit Ethernet serves a configured network and provides access to CentreWare Internet Services for printer settings and status. The guide specifies Category 5 or better network cable and initial printer configuration before driver installation.
External wireless hardware is optional. Historical PrintBack and PC Mobile Express Driver descriptions do not establish native AirPrint or Mopria. Check current software support for the intended operating system, especially if the workflow depends on PostScript, advanced color settings or held jobs.
Keep speed, workload and maintenance figures distinct
The US table declares up to 45 one-sided Letter pages per minute in color or monochrome, separately 26 Legal and 22 Tabloid/A3. Two-sided rates occupy a separate table. These are manufacturer declarations, not measured results. Recommended monthly output is up to 30,000 pages; the 225,000-page duty figure is explicitly a peak that should not be sustained.
US supplied toner is declared at 24,000 black and 6,000 pages for each color. High-capacity replacement colors are 17,200 each under ISO/IEC 19798. Imaging, waste, filter and belt-cleaner maintenance items have separate lifetimes and conditions.
The original US listing establishes the 110 V DN. Its unpackaged body is 25.3 by 27.5 by 22.8 inches and 178.6 pounds. Check the actual label, condition and accessories, and allow extra loading, cover, output, ventilation and service clearance.

Paper, software and setup details
Print-rate conditions
The exact US detailed table declares up to 45 one-sided Letter/A4 pages/min in color or monochrome, separately 26 Legal and 22 Tabloid/A3. Its automatic-two-sided figures are separately 45 Letter/A4, 17 Legal and 15 Tabloid/A3 with the maker label ppm; no sheets/images conversion is inferred. The regional prior sheet gives A4 rather than Letter, so the explicit US sheet supports the Letter fields. Recommended monthly volume is up to 30,000; maximum duty 225,000 is explicitly not sustained regular output. These are manufacturer declarations, not measured performance.
Paper handling
DN includes a 100-sheet Tray 1 and 520-sheet Tray 2, totaling 620 at 20 lb/75 gsm. Both positively support ordinary Letter, Legal, A4, A3 and Tabloid. Automatic duplex is standard for those sizes within 128 x 140 to 322 x 457 mm and 75–256 gsm. Tray 1 single-sided stock reaches 350 gsm, while automatic duplex at 257–300 gsm needs the optional Extra Heavy Duty Media Kit and Tray 1; 350 gsm simplex is not a duplex promise. Envelopes use Tray 1 only and one-sided; labels are one-sided, transparencies use Trays 1–2 one-sided. Added tray modules and finishers are excluded from standard input; finishers need a suitable tray module installed.
Scanning arrangement
A color LED print-only printer. It has no scanner, flatbed, original-document feeder, copying or fax. The color touchscreen and optional color-measurement instrument do not establish document scanning.
Computer and mobile connections
Included USB 2.0 supports direct compatible computer printing; 10/100/1000 Ethernet supports a configured network and CentreWare Internet Services. The guide specifies Category 5 or better cable for the network and initial printer setup before installing drivers. External wireless hardware is optional. Native AirPrint/Mopria are unestablished; historical PrintBack and the PC Mobile Express Driver do not establish a native mobile workflow or current cloud-service availability.
Supplies and declared yields
US supplied toner is declared at 24,000 black and 6,000 pages for each color. Standard replacement colors 106R01563/564/565 are 6,000 each; high-capacity black 106R01569 is 24,000 and colors 106R01566/567/568 are 17,200 each. Toner uses ISO/IEC 19798 and varies with image, coverage and print mode. Imaging unit 106R01582 at 145,000, waste cartridge 108R00982 at 20,000, suction filter 108R01037 at 120,000 and IBT cleaner 108R01036 at 160,000 have separate maintenance conditions. Do not treat maintenance ratings as toner yields or promise current prices or stock.
Software and support
Standard 2 GB memory and at least 160 GB hard drive, with Adobe PostScript 3, PCL 5c/6 and PDF Direct 1.6. Secure Print is an included documented computer-driver job type: set a 4–10 digit passcode, then touch Jobs, Personal and Secure Jobs, the assigned private folder, enter the same code and select Print. The job is deleted from the hard drive after printing. Saved Job and Sample Set are different routines. PhaserCal is included; PhaserMatch 5.0 with PhaserMeter is optional on DN. Verify current computer/software compatibility and the actual installed drive.
Electrical edition and setup
Earlier exact US 7800/DN is identified as 110 Volt in the original US configuration list. The US detailed sheet explicitly gives an unpackaged body of 25.3 by 27.5 by 22.8 inches and 178.6 lb, separate from the 232 lb packaged unit. Verify actual voltage label, condition and accessories. Allow additional tray, cover, output, ventilation and maintenance space; a finisher requires extra equipment and substantial width.
