Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can a compatible USB computer print monochrome Legal duplex jobs, hold them for PIN release and use 700 included sheets for a 25,000-page month?
Yes. The exact DN has standard automatic duplex, a 550-sheet tray and 150-sheet bypass, both with Legal support. Secure Print is included in the documented driver and panel routine. The May 2022 original detailed table recommends up to 30,000 monthly pages, separately from its 300,000 duty maximum.
Explore this need in the finder →Can Apple AirPrint and Mopria clients print through a B610/DN that uses the office Ethernet connection?
Yes on the documented shared-network arrangement with compatible clients and discovery enabled. Native mobile printing does not require the optional wireless adapter merely because a phone joins the office Wi-Fi. Advanced desktop paper, duplex and passcode options remain separate from this basic mobile route.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the B610/DN provide the glass and single-pass duplex feeder needed to scan original Legal documents?
No. B610 is print-only; the family scanner and feeder belong to B615. A color touchscreen, USB memory printing or a shared cloud-connector list does not give B610 a physical scanner. Select a separately confirmed multifunction configuration for original-document capture.
Explore this need in the finder →A document printer with a clear release point
The Xerox VersaLink B610/DN fits a workgroup producing monochrome paperwork from computers on a wired network. Its included Secure Print routine lets a user send a sensitive document and release it with a passcode at the machine. USB computer printing provides another documented route.
The deciding limitation is the hardware scope. B610 is a print-only LED model, while B615 supplies the related multifunction scanner. A color touchscreen and a long list of apps do not change that distinction. Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi Direct also require the optional wireless adapter.
The current US manufacturer shop marks the B600/B610 family discontinued. This earlier model reference explains the documented DN arrangement; check the exact electrical edition, service condition and compatible software of an individual unit.
Make confidential release part of the normal queue
Secure Print is useful when the printer serves several people and documents should not sit unattended in the output tray. The compatible computer driver associates a passcode with the submitted job. At the panel, the user opens the personal and secure jobs area, enters the code and releases the intended document.
Personal Print has a different purpose. It stores work under a user folder without the Secure Print passcode, so another user can print or delete it. A watermark is also only page content, rather than a release control.
The optional hard drive needs its own assessment. The detailed specification identifies disk overwrite as dependent on that equipment, while listing Secure Print among the included functions. Buying storage, card authentication or fleet-management software is a separate decision from using the documented base release routine.
Keep Legal handling separate from maximum capacity
The base DN includes a 550-sheet main tray and a 150-sheet bypass, totaling 700 ordinary sheets at the specification's 75 gsm basis. Letter, Legal and A4 fit both paths, and the guide independently confirms automatic duplex for those sizes.
The bypass can support a different ordinary stock or an occasional envelope routine while the main drawer remains loaded. Envelopes need their instructed orientation, type and size settings, and have their own stack limit. The 150-sheet ordinary-paper rating is not an envelope capacity.
The optional 2,000-sheet high-capacity feeder handles Letter and A4. It does not add that quantity of Legal storage. Extra 550-sheet drawers, finishing equipment, a mailbox and a cabinet have different combination limits and change the machine's height and working space.
For an office regularly switching between Letter and Legal, the useful question is which supported sizes can remain loaded in the installed trays. The largest family capacity headline alone does not answer that question.
Use mobile access through the actual network
Native AirPrint and Mopria can provide a mobile-printing route through the included wired printer interface on a suitable shared network. A phone using office Wi-Fi does not mean the printer itself needs a Wi-Fi radio.
Discovery and the correct protocols still matter. AirPrint requires its supported network arrangement; the mobile client must be able to find the printer. Keep this basic native route separate from the desktop driver's advanced paper and passcode controls.
The optional wireless adapter provides a different arrangement for Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi Direct. NFC pairing is not a substitute for that missing radio. Likewise, an old cloud-service listing does not guarantee the service or a particular app remains available for a present workflow.
Use the dated B610 figures for workload planning
The May 2022 US detailed table declares up to 65 one-sided Letter pages per minute, 63 A4 and 54 Legal. Automatic-duplex output has separate figures. These are manufacturer declarations, rather than measured timing or print-quality results.
The same table recommends average monthly output up to 30,000 pages and separately declares a 300,000-page duty maximum. The higher number should not become the routine workload target. Plan refill frequency, consumable changes and service access around the documents actually produced.
US standard, high-capacity and extra-high toner use different part numbers and declared yields. The imaging drum is separate. Regional brochure ordering codes differ, so match replacements to the actual US machine rather than selecting a cartridge solely by a family name.
Choose the printer body you will actually install
The detailed table gives the unpackaged base as 16.8 by 18.3 by 17.5 inches and 49.2 lb. Allow additional room for open drawers, bypass feeding, Legal extensions, output collection and maintenance.
If original-document capture is essential, a confirmed multifunction configuration is the appropriate comparison. If the work is mainly monochrome computer output, the B610/DN's relevant combination is its included paper capacity, automatic duplex and deliberate passcode release, without assuming every accessory shown in the brochure is part of the base.

Paper, software and setup details
Print-rate conditions
The May 2022 US detailed table declares one-sided monochrome output up to 65 Letter, 63 A4 and 54 Legal pages/min under ISO/IEC 24734. Automatic-duplex output is separately 58.5 Letter, 56 A4 and 30.1 Legal. The shared guide gives A4 duplex 52.2; the exact B610 detailed-table basis is used here. Recommended average monthly throughput is up to 30,000, distinct from the 300,000 maximum duty. Older distributor 25,000/275,000 figures do not override this dated original table. No measured speed, quality or reliability claim.
Paper handling
The base DN includes one 550-sheet main tray and a 150-sheet bypass, totaling 700 ordinary sheets at the detailed specification's 20 lb, 75 gsm basis. Letter, Legal and A4 fit both included paths and are independently confirmed for automatic duplex in the guide. Ordinary-paper capacity is not a count for envelopes or heavy media. The optional 2,000-sheet high-capacity feeder accepts Letter/A4, rather than adding Legal storage. Extra drawers, mailbox, stapler, cabinet and caster base are separate equipment with combination limits. The guide gives media-specific duplex weights; the detailed table gives a maximum two-sided range up to 176 gsm, not permission to duplex every stock type. For Number 10 envelopes in the bypass, use short-edge feeding, flaps down and right, the appropriate driver size/type and supported stock. Monarch/DL have a separate permitted alternate orientation. Keep the envelope stack at or below 16.5 mm, approximately 10–20 depending on construction. Avoid padded, windowed, clasped, heat-activated or press-and-seal envelopes; this is a one-sided routine.
Scanning arrangement
B610 is a print-only monochrome LED model. The exact family table puts the glass, automatic duplex feeder, color scanning, copying and fax in B615 X/XL, with scan/fax not applicable to B610. A color touchscreen, a cloud connector list or shared printer/MFP guide language does not add scanner hardware.
Computer and mobile connections
Included Gigabit Ethernet and USB3 TypeB computer printing; front TypeA USB memory printing is separate. Install a compatible desktop driver for the documented size, duplex, envelope and Secure Print routines. Native AirPrint and Mopria can use the wired printer interface on the suitable shared network with the appropriate mobile client and discovery enabled. AirPrint requires IPP and Bonjour/mDNS, with same-subnet access or properly configured discovery routing. Those mobile routes are recorded separately from desktop paper and passcode controls. The 497K16750 wireless adapter is optional for Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi Direct; NFC pairing does not itself provide that radio. Wi-Fi Direct is disabled by default in the guide. No base Wi-Fi plan is recorded.
Supplies and declared yields
US sold replacement toner is 106R03940 at 10,300 pages, 106R03942 at 25,900 and 106R03944 at 46,700, declared under ISO/IEC 19752 with coverage and print-mode conditions. The inherited regional brochure instead lists 03941/43/45; do not substitute those ordering codes for the US table. Drum 101R00582 is a separate approximately 60,000-page part with job-length, size, orientation and machine-speed conditions. The detailed B610 sheet's box list describes a standard 10,300-page cartridge but mistakenly names B600 in its printer line; verify the actual supplied cartridge and remaining toner rather than assuming a fresh full unit. No price, cost per page or remaining-life calculation.
Software and support
Secure Print is included and holds a compatible computer job until its passcode is entered at the panel. In the supported driver select Printing Options, Job Type, Secure Print, type and confirm the passcode, then submit. At Home choose Jobs, Personal & Secure Jobs, your folder and the code, then release the desired job. Printed Secure Print jobs are deleted automatically. Personal Print does not use a passcode and any user can print or delete it. The optional Productivity Kit hard drive is not a prerequisite assumed for Secure Print; immediate disk overwrite specifically requires that kit. Shared-guide 250 GB and detailed-sheet 320 GB option descriptions differ; the latter specifies 497K18360. Cloud apps, accounts, licenses and historical OS lists need their own compatibility checks and do not add scanning.
Electrical edition and setup
This assessment uses the original US DN configuration and North American 110–127 VAC edition, separately listed from Europe/other 220–240 VAC. Confirm the exact rating label and installed package. The current US maker shop marks the B600/B610 family discontinued. Detailed-table unpackaged base body is 16.8 x 18.3 x 17.5 inches and 49.2 lb, different from the 61.6 lb carton and taller added-feeder/finishing arrangements. The shared guide instead gives a 17.3 inch base height; the detailed B610 table's larger basis is retained. Allow extra operating room for Legal extensions, bypass, drawers, output access, cables and ventilation.
