Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can a USB-connected computer make color Legal duplex documents and use PIN release with 700 included sheets?
Yes with the compatible Xerox computer driver. The exact DN configuration includes automatic duplex, both included input paths accept Legal, and Secure Print holds supported jobs for a passcode. Capacity is 700 ordinary sheets at 75 gsm; the manufacturer’s 55-page/min figure separately describes one-sided Letter output.
Explore this need in the finder →Can a supported Apple device print in color through an office network when the C600 uses Ethernet?
Yes, using AirPrint on the documented shared network with IPP/Bonjour and suitable discovery enabled. The printer’s own wireless adapter is an optional addition. Native application controls are separate from full computer-driver duplex and Secure Print settings.
Explore this need in the finder →Will a base C600/DN provide Wi-Fi printing without an accessory?
No. Both original configuration and connection instructions identify the wireless network adapter as optional. AirPrint over a shared network and NFC tap-to-pair do not establish a built-in Wi-Fi radio in the base printer.

The Xerox VersaLink C600/DN is useful when a wired office wants color documents, automatic two-sided printing and controlled collection of sensitive jobs. Its included main tray and bypass hold 700 ordinary sheets between them. Both accept Letter, Legal and A4, so longer documents do not require an optional input drawer.
The tradeoff is straightforward: this is a printer, without a scanner or copier. The C605 pictured in the same family literature has different hardware. Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi Direct also require an optional adapter. A team needing a complete scan-and-copy station should consider a documented multifunction configuration instead.
The current United States Xerox shop marks C600 discontinued. Treat it as an earlier reference and check the actual electrical edition, condition, software support and installed accessories.
Match the paper and color controls to the job
The brochure identifies a Hi-Q LED print head, making this a toner-based color LED machine. The detailed specification declares up to 55 one-sided Letter pages per minute in either color or monochrome, with separate A4 and Legal figures of 53 and 45. Duplex output has different rates: 52 Letter, 50 A4 and 26 Legal pages per minute. These are manufacturer declarations, not measurements from this site.
For a routine color handout, choose the actual paper source, type and size in a compatible driver before choosing the two-sided page layout. Long-edge and short-edge turning produce different reading orientations. The DN configuration includes the duplex hardware; the original configuration table distinguishes it from C600N.
The guide gives Windows PostScript and Macintosh drivers the widest range of color controls. Listed choices include automatic color correction and conversion to black-and-white, alongside controls for lightness, contrast and saturation. Some controls are unavailable in PCL/PCL6 or depend on the configuration. Check the actual driver rather than assuming every installation exposes the same options.
Legal paper extends the tray into the working area
The included main drawer holds 550 sheets and the bypass 150 at the detailed specification's 20 lb, 75 gsm basis. Their 700-sheet total is ordinary-paper capacity. Heavy media and envelopes have separate loading instructions.
Letter, Legal and A4 are explicitly supported in both paths and for automatic duplex. Plain duplex stock uses 75–105 gsm in the guide, while selected lightweight cardstock and glossy types reach 176 gsm. Acceptance of heavier stock for one-sided output does not make it suitable for automatic duplex.
To load Legal in the main drawer, remove the paper, release the adjustment latch and extend the tray until it locks. The protective cover fits over the extended section. The tray then protrudes from the front of the printer, which matters on a shelf or beside a walkway.
Additional drawers, a 2,000-sheet feeder, cabinet, finisher and output mailbox are options. The detailed table and user guide limit the high-capacity feeder to Letter or A4. Its larger capacity should not be counted as included Legal capacity.
Hold confidential jobs with Secure Print
In Windows Printer Properties or the supported Mac Xerox Features controls, select Secure Print as the job type. Enter and confirm the passcode, check the remaining settings and send. At the printer, open Jobs and Personal & Secure Jobs, select your folder, enter the code and select the document. The original guide says a Secure Print job is deleted automatically after printing.
Personal Print and Sample Set are different workflows. Personal Print does not use a passcode, and other users can print or delete it. Sample Set releases a sample before the remaining copies. Neither name is a substitute for confidential passcode release.
Secure Print appears among included functions. The optional hard-drive condition on disk overwrite belongs to a separate feature; added storage, card readers and server-managed solutions require their own configuration checks.
Share Ethernet with supported mobile devices
A supported phone or tablet can use the office's shared network to reach an Ethernet-connected printer through AirPrint or Mopria. AirPrint depends on IPP, Bonjour and suitable discovery between the devices. Mopria requires the compatible print service and a reachable shared-network printer.
This arrangement does not add Wi-Fi hardware to the C600/DN. Direct USB computer printing is another connection entirely. Mobile application controls also differ from full computer drivers, so verify any specific duplex or held-job routine before depending on it.
Budget space and separate toner from maintenance parts
Recommended average monthly output reaches 17,000 pages. The 120,000 duty declaration is a different maximum. The detailed unpackaged base measurements are 16.9 by 18.4 by 17.5 inches and 64.8 lb, before working clearance and optional equipment.
The specification distinguishes supplied toner, replacement capacities, four imaging drums and the waste cartridge. Toner yields follow ISO/IEC 19798; maintenance-life estimates have different conditions. Confirm the exact regional cartridge numbers and the condition of separate maintenance parts rather than treating a toner replacement as a complete refresh.

Paper, software and setup details
Print-rate conditions
The exact detailed specification declares ordinary one-sided color and monochrome printing up to 55 Letter, 53 A4 and 45 Legal pages/min. Its separate automatic-duplex rates are 52 Letter, 50 A4 and 26 Legal. The original guide gives A4 52 and a generic standard-features row 45; the explicit detailed paper-size table governs the numbers here. Recommended average monthly output reaches 17,000 and is not a minimum. Maximum duty of 120,000 is a different, nonsustained declaration. No measured-performance claim.
Paper handling
Included main tray 550 and bypass 150 total 700 ordinary sheets at 20 lb, 75 gsm. Both accept Letter, Legal and A4; the guide explicitly lists those automatic-duplex sizes. Plain duplex stock is 75–105 gsm, with selected lightweight cardstock and glossy stock 106–176 gsm. One-sided heavier media does not automatically qualify for duplex. Legal extends the main tray forward using its release latch and protective cover. Optional additional 550-sheet drawers, 2,000-sheet feeder, finisher, mailbox and cabinet are separate. The high-capacity feeder accepts only Letter/A4; an inconsistent brochure range is not used. Envelopes print one side. In the bypass, No.10 loads short edge first, flaps down and right. Select Envelope and exact size in panel/driver. Bypass stack height is 16.5 mm, approximately 10–20 depending on stock; the distinct main-tray envelope instruction allows up to 50 at 45 mm height.
Scanning arrangement
The original exact C600 column identifies printing and mobile connectivity, with scanning and fax not applicable. It has no glass, feeder, copying or color scanning. The neighboring C605 100-sheet single-pass feeder and its scan/cloud/fax workflows are not C600 hardware.
Computer and mobile connections
Included USB3 Type B computer printing and Gigabit Ethernet. A compatible computer driver is required for the documented full job controls. Front Type A flash-drive printing is a separate routine. Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi Direct require optional wireless adapter 497K16750. NFC tap-to-pair does not establish an included wireless radio. Native AirPrint and Mopria can use the documented shared office network with an Ethernet-connected printer, separately from direct USB computer printing.
Supplies and declared yields
The exact detailed specification declares supplied starter toner at black 10,000 and each cyan, magenta and yellow 6,000 standard pages. US replacement standard black 106R03899 and CMY 106R03896/97/98 are each 6,000. High black 106R03903 is 12,200 and CMY 106R03900/01/02 are 10,100. Extra-high black 106R03919 is 16,900 and CMY 106R03916/17/18 are 16,800. Toner declarations follow ISO/IEC 19798 and vary by image, coverage and print mode. Separate CMYK drums 108R01485/86/87/88 are approximately 40,000 and waste cartridge 108R01416 is 30,000 under different job/media/speed conditions. The brochure contains visibly misaligned supply codes and an older 50,000 drum figure; its inconsistent table is not used for these numbers. No current price or cost-per-page claim.
Software and support
For Secure Print, open Printer Properties in Windows or Xerox Features on a supported Mac driver, choose Job Type, Secure Print, enter and confirm the passcode, then send. At Home, Jobs, Personal & Secure Jobs, select your folder, enter the code and select the job; it is deleted automatically after printing. Personal Print and Sample Set use no passcode and can be released or deleted by other users. The optional HDD condition on Immediate Disk Overwrite is separate from included Secure Print. AirPrint requires enabled IPP/Bonjour and suitable subnet discovery; Mopria requires its compatible print service and shared network. Native mobile plans do not inherit full-driver paper-specific duplex, envelope or PIN controls. The guide gives the widest color controls to PostScript Windows and Mac drivers, with listed controls unavailable in PCL/PCL6. Historical cloud names do not guarantee present services or OS support.
Electrical edition and setup
The exact original guide configuration table establishes C600DN automatic duplex and optional added trays, storage, radio and finishers; C600N is different. The detailed North American edition lists 110–127 V versus Europe 220–240 V, and the guide independently lists the 120 V electrical arrangement. Verify the actual rating label and edition. The current United States manufacturer shop marks C600 discontinued. Unpackaged base body in the detailed table is 16.9 x 18.4 x 17.5 inches and 64.8 lb. The guide rounds dimensions differently at 16.8 x 18.3 x 17.3 inches; the larger exact detailed-table values are retained. Packaged 77.2 lb is not body weight. Allow the extended Legal tray, open bypass, service doors, cables and ventilation.
